08 December - National weather forecast presented by Kathryn Chalk
Transcript
00:00Good afternoon, well it's going to be another very windy day out there as storm Darra has
00:05cleared its way south and eastwards. Taking a look at the bigger picture then, this is
00:09the storm that is clearing its way through but we still have a real squeeze in those
00:14isobars indicating some strong and gusty winds but higher pressure is toppling through as
00:20we go Monday and into Tuesday too with still some strong winds across the south coast.
00:27So through this afternoon we have a wind warning still valid, we've got gusts of up
00:31to 35 possibly 45 mph inland and along the exposed coast we could see gusts of 50 to
00:3860 mph. It's going to be a damp afternoon as well to come across many parts of central
00:44England into north eastern England and across the south east perhaps with some heavy showers
00:49developing. Further towards the west though, lighter winds compared to Saturday and drier
00:54too. We may see some sunshine especially across south western parts of Wales and south
00:59west England. The best of the sunshine though across northern Ireland and western Scotland
01:04here with lighter winds too. As for temperatures we could see highs of up to 10 or 11 degrees
01:11across the south west but underneath all this cloud, rain and strong northerly winds it's
01:17actually going to be feeling colder than what the numbers are showing here. So as we go
01:23through Sunday evening the winds will gradually start easing, cloud will gradually start spilling
01:28in further towards south western parts of England with outbreaks of rain on and off.
01:34The best of the clear skies though across northern Ireland and Scotland and here underneath
01:39the ridge of higher pressure temperatures will quickly fall away underneath the light
01:43winds too and we could see a touch of frost but perhaps even some freezing fog patches
01:49across Scotland. Further towards the south temperatures generally holding up with a lot
01:53of cloud around and still holding on to that brisk wind. So as we start Monday morning
01:59then we have higher pressure dominating across northern parts but we still have a real squeeze
02:05in the ice bars further towards the south so it is still going to be quite a blustery
02:09day as we go through Monday. But a bright start across Scotland with a touch of frost
02:15and across northern Ireland too. Further towards England and Wales we still hold on to quite
02:21a lot of cloud, outbreaks of rain and drizzle at times but hopefully less a little bit settled
02:27compared to what we've seen over the weekend. Otherwise temperatures are going to be feeling
02:32cold across Scotland but otherwise highs of up to 8 or 9 degrees across parts of England.
02:40So as we look ahead to the week then we do have higher pressure building in, the winds
02:45will be easing as well but we still hold on to quite a lot of cloud. But for more details
02:50on that make sure to hit subscribe on YouTube so you don't miss any updates and I'll see
02:54you soon. Bye bye.
