00:00All right, we mentioned the second was more from Dan Campbell about when to get guys out of the game. And look, I don't think this is a federal case. Some people are comfortable with it. The football team's playing so damn well. But I do know it's something we wanted to address. Here is the second portion when Dan Campbell later circled back to the question of why starters are in the game so late.
00:30All right, so there's where he came back to it.
00:46Yeah, I mean, there were a couple of things in his explanation in the first part of it, too.
00:50It's, you know, he wants to make sure he doesn't stop good momentum.
00:55Right. Well, they scored seven straight touchdowns in any point in time, you could have said you could have done after 42. And I think everybody would have been OK. You could have done after 35, frankly, but it was still early in the second half when he did that.
01:11So when he scored 42 and your six straight drive with a touchdown, I feel like if you want to take guys out there, no one's going to complain about it.
01:19And you still have your momentum, good momentum because you finished on a high note, which is what he wants to do.
01:24If the message is that you don't want to send the message of being fearful of injuries.
01:31I mean, that's just a matter of how you address the team and he addressed the team, however, he does, and he's amazing at it, that's why it's hard to question it.
01:37But for me, it would have been easy to do. OK, you guys deserve a break.
01:41Let's let's get these other guys a chance to play. You know, it's kind of like in college when you get up big and you bring in the other guys, it's because you want to see what these young you give these young guys experience.
01:50Right. Yeah. But in the pros. It's a different game because you're just you're trying to finish the game.
01:56And I guess inherently the message is we don't want the starters to get hurt, but I mean, everybody knows it.
02:02Yeah, I guess I just don't have as much of an issue with it because I just I don't have a huge issue.
02:06I'm just but I would disagree with a little bit with it.
02:08I made a point here with him is the way he runs this team.
02:13They've taken on this identity. And I think if he changes what he thinks he should be doing, I don't want them to lose their identity.
02:20And anyway, I don't want it to impact, you know, their approach towards a game of football in any way.
02:25But two, four, eight, five, three, nine, ninety seven, ninety seven.
02:28Let's get back to the people. Chris is next.
02:30Hi, Chris. Hey, guys, love the show.
02:33Thank you. So my champ is definitely Dan Campbell because he's crazy.
02:39He's crazy like a fox because people criticize him for doing things that aren't logical, like going forward and forth down.
02:46But I think there's more to it than logic, because like Phil Jackson, they called him the Zen master, had the team like meditating and visualizing.
02:53And they were talking about manifesting that turnover during the TV interview.
02:57And all of a sudden, when you succeed on going forward and forth down and things that don't make any sense, seemingly.
03:03Now you've got the team believing that they can do impossible things.
03:07Like when somebody goes to one of those self-help gurus and they walk across the hot coals and they go, wow, I can't believe I just did that.
03:13Now you've got the whole team believing they can do seemingly impossible things and they're all playing like superheroes.
03:19So for me, it's Dan Campbell. I take him over Belichick.
03:22I take him over anybody. I've never had so much fun watching the Lions.
03:26And the cool thing is, is that he's doing it.
03:28And I bet you they don't even have to sit on meditation cushions in a lotus position.
03:34That is a good thing. Chris, you know, it's interesting because I don't know that I really too much disagree with anything you're saying.
03:41But the one thing I will say is that when you said you take him over this guy, you take him over that guy, those guys did finish the job.
03:48Campbell has yet to do it. It feels, you know, it feels like it's it's.
03:53Look, I don't want to count our chickens, right?
03:56There's a lot of football to be played. Seasons are long and they're on one of these win streaks.
04:00It feels like they're never going to lose again. But things can change in a hurry.
04:04And I just I want this football team. God, we need them to finish the deal so bad.
04:10Yeah, it's almost like a magic spell. And I just hope the spell is never broken.
04:14No, I hear you. I hear it, Chris. Thank you for the phone call.
