00:00As far as the government is concerned, it's now up to the International Criminal Court or ICC to do something about the dare that former President Rodrigo Duterte issued against them.
00:12Although the Marca's administration maintains that it will not cooperate with ICC's investigation, this may all change if a request is made by Interpol.
00:23Why? PTV's Fizel Partilia explains in this report.
00:30We will not stop the ICC. We will not help them. But if they allow us to talk to the ICC, it's up to them. We don't have a decision yet.
00:46President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. stands firm on non-cooperation with the International Criminal Court in conjunction with the investigation into the bloody illegal drugs campaign under administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
01:01However, the government will not stop Duterte after he challenged the ICC to expedite the investigation on his war on drugs.
01:10Reports indicate that between 6,000 to 30,000 people died during Duterte's anti-illegal drugs campaign.
01:17Should the ICC refer the case against Duterte to the International Criminal Police Organization or Interpol and request a red notice from the Philippine authorities, President Marcos Jr. stated,
01:30We have obligations to Interpol and we have to live up to those obligations. We'll see. We'll see how far it goes. We'll see what the ICC does.
01:44Solicitor General Menardo Guevara said cooperating with Interpol is an obligation while cooperation with the ICC is a political decision.
01:53Interpol is considered one of the most important organizations in the world helping countries combat international crime.
02:01It is not new for the Philippine National Police to cooperate with Interpol, which was also key in the arrest of former Bamban Mayor Alice Guo.
02:10If there is a warrant to arrest and Interpol asks for our assistance, then like I said, the PNP, particularly the Philippine National Police, is bounded by the security protocol with respect to assistance to be provided with our foreign counterparts.
02:30The Philippines withdrew from the ICC in 2019.
02:33Amid this, President Marcos Jr. emphasized the investigation into extrajudicial killings will continue in the country.
02:41The Department of Justice will review Duterte's statements and assess whether they can be used to file charges against him.
02:49The question on EJK has not yet been answered. Who has been, who is responsible?
02:54And we had some of the mothers of some of the victims that were there and up to now they have not seen the justice for the murders of their children.
03:06And that's still, so that is the DOJ's responsibility to continue to examine all bits of comments, of statements, of testimony and eventually of evidence to see if that justifies a case to be filed.
03:26From PTV Manila, Kleza Fardilia, Balitang Kambansa.
