A grey and cloudy start for many, with some mist and fog patches, particularly across southern regions. High pressure bringing benign conditions throughout the day for much of southern England. However, low pressure to the north, brings strong and gusty winds to much of northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Into the afternoon, areas of drizzle for Northern Ireland. As well as persistent rain and drizzle for western Scotland and the Scottish Isles, with gale force winds at times in coastal regions. - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the morning of 01/11/24. 00:00Hello, good morning. The first day of November brings something a little colder into the
00:05far north of the UK as wet and windy weather sinks south across central Scotland. The winds
00:12change direction, northerly winds bring a chill in the air first thing and a few showers
00:17but otherwise brighter skies actually compared to the last few days. Meanwhile, we've got
00:21this rain pushing south into central Scotland, later it will move into Fife, Edinburgh, the
00:27Lothians as a diminishing area of light and patchy drizzle. Some drizzly showers for Northern
00:34Ireland, North West England, North Wales as well, a lot of cloud elsewhere. Some mist
00:38patches in the south first thing, they tend to lift. 13 or 14 Celsius, not quite as mild
00:43as recent days but still a lot of cloud and light winds in the south so not a particularly
00:50chilly one. Now, in the far north, we'll keep that chilly air going into Friday night and
00:56Saturday. In fact, it sinks a bit further south. On the whole, it's a colder night compared
01:01with recent nights, temperatures in many places dipping into the single figures, low single
01:05figures in the far north and northeast. But the front that I mentioned that's sinking
01:11south, that pivots and so it's going to bring a lot of cloud across Scotland first thing
01:15Saturday, eastern England as well and some light showers here. It then starts to move
01:20north again so returning the rain to Shetland and Orkney before eventually clearing and
01:26bringing milder air across much of the UK. So, by Saturday afternoon, it's grey skies
01:30for most, a few drizzly showers in the northeast and the east as well as the south but many
01:36places staying relatively settled and high pressure remains in charge for the start of
01:42next week. With that high sitting to the east, we're going to have a southerly airflow. That
01:46means it's going to stay mild but also means we might see some cloud breaks more extensively
01:51across southern parts of the UK for the start of next week.
