00:00Hello there, welcome to your Wednesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Rain will be replaced by brighter skies tomorrow and a few showers.
00:08However, for the time being we do have two rain warnings.
00:11One from Manchester to Plymouth covering the West Midlands as well as some parts of Wales away from the West.
00:16Expect some heavy rain through Wednesday evening.
00:19Now this warning expires at 9pm but before that there could be some delays on the roads,
00:24with public transport, certainly tricky driving conditions with spray as well as surface water.
00:29And a similar situation across northern counties of England.
00:32However, this one goes out till midnight because the whole system is moving its way northwards as well as eastwards.
00:38All courtesy of some bands of cloud and rain, which will be heavy at times,
00:42eventually clearing towards the north-east and then a better day around on Thursday.
00:47We'll see that rain clear towards the far north-east of Scotland and then a few showers will move in from the west,
00:53but they will be fairly scattered, temperatures still above average for this time of year.
00:57On Friday this band of rain will eventually bring some stronger winds.
01:01A wind warning on Friday across the far north-west of Scotland.
01:05And these bands of cloud and rain push ever eastwards as well.
01:09Now for the time being, here's that rain.
01:12It's the wet weather extending from central southern England up across most of the country, covering Scotland as well.
01:18Notice some brighter echoes representing some intense downpours.
01:24So through the evening we watch as this whole system moves its way eastwards.
01:28So there will be a clearance through evening time across Northern Ireland, south-west Wales and the west country.
01:34But notice there will be some heavier pulses of rain across the eastern side of Scotland,
01:39down towards the south-east of England as we head through to around midnight.
01:43Eventually though, through the night, most of the rain becomes confined to Scotland
01:48as we lose the intensity and the distribution of the rain further south.
01:52Those clear skies then emerge across the Midlands, covering the Isle of Man down towards central southern England.
01:58Temperatures towards the east, still 14 or 15 Celsius.
02:02A keen breeze across the far north-east of Scotland,
02:05and the wind will pick up across Channel and Irish coast as we head into Thursday morning.
02:10At least though, you'll see some sunshine to start the day.
02:13The cloud across eastern counties of England will tend to clear,
02:16and we'll hang on to more cloud across central and northern areas of Scotland as the rain becomes confined to the far north.
02:22At the same time, a few showers will file in across the Irish Sea, Northern Ireland,
02:27up towards the western side of Scotland, and one or two could move in across the west country as well as Wales.
02:33But for many areas, it's a bright afternoon with some sunshine,
02:36although there could be a bit more cloud from time to time across east Anglia as well as the south-east.
02:41Temperatures then, well in shelter across eastern Scotland, 17 or 18.
02:4518 down this eastern strip with the wind coming in from the south-west,
02:4817 across Wales, 15 or 16 for Northern Ireland.
02:51So wherever you are, it's a pleasant afternoon, a few showers, at least though, there will be some sunshine.
02:57Now through Thursday evening and overnight, any showers tending to fade away, a quieter evening.
03:02It's going to feel a bit chilly into Friday morning, temperatures a bit lower,
03:05but notice this next band of cloud and rain moving in.
03:09Could see some high spring tides associated with it as well.
03:13So strong winds, outbreaks of rain pushing steadily eastward,
03:16hanging on to brighter skies towards more eastern counties.
03:20And here's your outlook through Saturday.
03:22Those showers could linger across eastern counties before clearing,
03:25many areas having some fine weather with some sunshine before all change yet again on Sunday.
03:31We see this deep area of low pressure move in.
03:34Expect some very strong winds, gales if not severe gales.
03:37Warnings go out from northern Scotland, down across Scotland, Northern Ireland,
03:41the tip of Wales and the far north-west of England.
03:44We'll keep you posted here on all our social media channels. See you later.
