00:00He is currently the host of the 2nd International Health and Wellness Tourism Congress of the Philippines.

00:05This is a good opportunity for the country to be recognized in this industry.

00:13More than the world-class destinations that the country has,

00:16the Department of Tourism continues to strengthen other aspects of the tourism of the Philippines.

00:22This is the position of the Philippines as a health and wellness tourism hub in the Asia-Pacific region

00:26that is expected to help the country's economy.

00:29According to Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco,

00:32it is a great thing to be the host of the 2nd International Health and Wellness Tourism Congress

00:36for the country to be recognized in this industry.

00:39More than 38 countries are included in the gathering.

00:42First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos also joined to support the program.

00:47Our culture and traditions are also included in this.

00:52We have this Filipino ancient healing technique called Hilot

00:57which is one of the highlights of this Congress.

01:00Perfectly paired with our world-class health care facilities and health care personnel.

01:07Prices in the country are also competitive with the care of the Filipinos.

01:12Aesthetic and dental tourism are also included here

01:15and wellness tourism destinations such as spas and nature retreats.

01:19With the existence of this International Health and Wellness Tourism Congress,

01:24we can give our countrymen the opportunity to have more jobs in tourism

01:31and of course, our private tourism stakeholders will have more income.

01:35Based on the government's data,

01:3680,000 to 250,000 foreign tourists visit the Philippines every year

01:43for health and wellness tourism.

01:45According to the DOT,

01:45the Philippines is the 3rd country in the Asia-Pacific region

01:47and the 24th country to reach the Medical Tourism Index worldwide.

01:51According to Agoragroup, a market research company,

01:53it is possible for the country to reach half a million international patients by 2030.

01:58The DOT also plans to increase it to 1 million in the next few years

02:03by expanding the market that the country has.

02:06According to Agoragroup,

02:07the Philippines has the ability to be a major player

02:10if it learns to have a world-class infrastructure,

02:13accreditation based on the global standard,

02:16continuous empowerment of medical professionals,

02:18holistic or overall wellness experience,

02:21and to have a public and private partnership.

02:24Because we believe in the potential that the Philippines has for health and wellness.

02:29It's not only about medical facilities,

02:32but the health and wellness offering is an all-encompassing offer

02:37that extends beyond only medical facilities.

02:40The DOT hopes to attract more health and wellness tourists

02:44from all over the world.
