00:00True to form, politicos seeking office for the first or umpteenth time saved their most for last.

00:07On the deadline of signing up for a shot in next year's midterm polls,

00:11re-electionists, those seeking higher office, and party-list groups seeking representation

00:16rushed to the poll body's sign-up sites with full support from family and fans.

00:21And as our Luisa Erispe threshes out, who showed up today in this report.

00:27On the last day of COC filing for the 2025 national and local elections,

00:32controversial faces and names emerged and filed their candidacies as senatorial aspirants and nominees of party-lists.

00:40One of them is KOJC leader Pastor Apolo Kibuloy, who filed his COC as senatorial aspirant.

00:47But instead of personally filing his COC, he submitted a special power of attorney

00:53through his legal counsel to file his candidacy as he is still behind bars,

00:58facing several charges filed against him in court.

01:01His focus, why he ran, is because of God and the Philippines that we love.

01:08It means the focus of his platform of government is God-centered, Philippine-centered, and Filipino-centered.

01:21The pastor filed his COC under the Workers and Peasant Party or WPP.

01:26But when the senatorial slate of the WPP also filed their candidacies today,

01:31they were surprised to find disgraced Pastor Kibuloy in the list with them.

01:49Another one on the list who filed today was former Executive Vic Rodriguez.

01:54His agenda are transparency and accountability to fight corruption.

01:59He filed his candidacy as an independent candidate, but gestured a trademark post of Duterte administration.

02:06According to him, he was endorsed personally by the former president.

02:11President Duterte and I are in favor of a government with transparency, accountability, peace, and security.

02:21And just before I go here, I was endorsed by President Duterte as among his candidates, but I'm not running under PDP.

02:30The senatorial aspirant and former executive secretary said,

02:34he will be the face of the real opposition once he wins a seat in the Senate.

02:39There is no opposition. Many are posturing for opposition, but there is no real opposition.

02:47What about the Liberal Party, sir? Do you consider them opposition or not?

02:52Do you? Do you?

02:55In our present day and setting, do you consider anyone an opposition now?

03:00Aside from them, also on the list of those who filed today are Representative Dante Marcoleta,

03:06who is now a senatorial aspirant, former Senator Kiko Pangilinan,

03:11who came with Megastar back up, and former Senator Laila Dalima.

03:15But today's buzzer beater for the filing of senatorial aspirant was game and variety show host and actor,

03:22Wilfredo Willy Revillame, who filed his candidacy with the aim to help the poorest of the poor.

03:28He said he aims to be an independent candidate and was not endorsed by former President Duterte.

03:34Meanwhile, aside from senatorial aspirants, there are some known names who filed the CONAS for party list,

03:42such as Arte party list, who was supported by Beauty Queen Ms. Shansi Susu,

03:47Agri party list, an incumbent in Congress, same with Sagip party list,

03:52and there were others aiming for a seat in the plenary for the first time.

03:56Our four pillars of our CLIC party list, let me tell you, what is CLIC, the acronym?

04:04CL is Computer Literacy, that's the first pillar.

04:09The second pillar is Innovation.

04:12The third pillar is Connectivity.

04:15The last pillar is Knowledge.

04:17Based on Comalec's collated data, for the eight days of COC filing,

04:21there are 184 senatorial aspirants and 190 party lists who filed their candidacy.

04:28Comalec is expected to release the final list of candidates on November 2024.
