00:00The energy and enthusiasm among wannabe lawmakers, first-timers of re-electionists, was in full display on day one of the poll body's registration of candidacy.
00:10And as Armela Las Moras reports, a good number of re-electionists already have in mind the pieces of legislation they seek to pursue should they make it to the winning circle.
00:20Festive, lively and vibrant are the prevailing mood here at the Office of the Commission on Elections, National Capital Region in San Juan City.
00:36This is the designated place for the filing of certificates of candidacy for those aspiring for a seat in the House of Representatives.
00:44From 8 o'clock in the morning up to 5 o'clock in the afternoon, several congressional aspirants and re-electionists came one by one.
00:51Some of those who filed their COCs earlier include incumbent lawmakers seeking for re-election like Navotas Loan District Representative Toby Chanco,
01:00Caloocan City 2nd District Representative Mitch Kahayunuy, Quezon City 1st District Representative Arjo Atayde, and Quezon City 5th District Representative P.M. Vargas.
01:10Chanco, who also serves as the campaign manager of the administration's Alianza para sa Bagong Pilipinas,
01:16also shared the instructions of President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr. for aspirants running in next year's midterm elections.
01:23I think the basic, basic line is the line for the candidates who are senators of Alianza.
01:33To remain upright and ensure the love for the country. Those are the two criteria.
01:40Of course, for the senatorial balls and for us congressmen, it's the support for the legislative agenda.
01:47Other COC filers also shared pieces of legislation in mind they wish to pursue should they get a chance to serve again.
01:55We just signed in the IRR yesterday of the Eddie Garcia bill.
01:59And moving forward, definitely that is my responsibility coming from there. That is my family.
02:04So definitely, we won't stop thinking of ways to help them as well.
02:09Next Congress, on our legislation, I will take a look first on the family concern.
02:18I am supporting that we amend the Family Code, especially when it comes to the legitimacy of the child.
02:27To ensure order and everyone's safety, strict security measures are in place and in play in the area.
02:33Here at Comelec NCR, it is expected that 200 to 300 aspirants will file their certificates of candidacy within the eight-day filing period.
02:42This is historic in San Juan because for more than three decades, the filing of the COC for congressmen in the NCR was in the family building in Entramuros, Manila.
02:54We transferred our office here last year.
02:57So this is the first time that we will be holding our reception of the COCs for the congressmen in NCR here in San Juan for the first time.
03:05In Tacloban City, House Speaker Martin Romualdez also filed his COC for re-election for the 1st District of Leyte.
03:13Speaker Romualdez said, the continued support of our countrymen serves as his inspiration to run again.
03:19For her part, former President and now Pampanga 2nd District Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, on the other hand, clarified she will not run as senator.
03:28Instead, she reiterated her plans for re-election to continue serving her constituents in Pampanga.
03:34Melales Moras from the National TV Network for a new and better Philippines.
