00:00Hello it's Martin Dempster the Scotsman Golf Correspondent here coming to you from Wentworth

00:08Club in Surrey venue for this week's BMW PGA Championship. The opening round has just drawn

00:17to a conclusion, fantastic day weather wise here at the Surrey venue and on a course that's

00:26maybe not played as difficult as it has in recent years. I think the fairways are a bit softer,

00:32the rough's not as thick as it's been, we've had some low scoring. Pride of place has gone to

00:39Englishman Matthew Baldwin, he shot a 700 par 65 to hold a one-shot lead. At one point it looked

00:49as though Scotland's Grant Forrest could be the pace setter in this Rolex series event. He was

00:57seven under with three holes to play but dropped a shot at the 16th and then was really angry with

01:03himself after taking a double bogey seven at the 18th as he had to settle for a four under par 68.

01:12Nonetheless that was a decent effort that's going to leave him handily placed and that's also the

01:17case with Scottish number one Bob McIntyre. He opened with a five under par 67 and sits alongside

01:25a number of former winners in Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Matteo Manassero and American Billy Horschel.
