00:03The autumn is here but the sun is still shining and people are thinking about going for a pint.
00:07We're out in Wolverhampton speaking to people about the price of the pint because
00:10research has shown in the last two years, so 2022 and 2024,
00:14the average price of a pint in Wolverhampton has gone up by about £1.50.
00:18So your average pint now costs about £4.50 which
00:22seems like a lot. We're speaking to people to see what they think.
00:25There are still places you can go to, we've just been to the vineyard to speak to
00:29about what they think about it. The manager says that you can get a pint for
00:33I think around £2.35. So we've been to speak to people to see
00:36what they think about the price of the beer, whether they think it's a good thing or a bad thing.

00:43So what's your reaction when you find out that the average price of a pint has gone up by £1.50?
00:47I'm a little bit disgusted by it to be honest with you.
00:51How so?
00:52Well you know inflation hasn't gone up, nothing else has gone up,
00:55once upon a beer going up so much.
00:57I feel like the cost of living is really sort of having a pinch then.
00:59Yeah it's really having a pinch yeah.
01:01When you go out on a night out, how much of a pinch are you finding these days?
01:04Are you finding that you're obviously having to spend more?
01:07Yeah a hell of a lot more yeah.
01:08On average how much do you think you're spending?
01:10On a night out?
01:11Yeah.
01:12Probably £30-40.
01:14And with that, what do you think can be done to help people with the cost of a beer?
01:20Make it cheaper.
01:22Reduce taxation, that sort of thing.
01:24Reduce taxation, reduce... why are they even taxing?
01:29A pint would be probably a pound for them to tax, you know what I mean?
01:32So why? What's the point?
01:34Because the government want to make money off you, that's what it comes down to.
01:41Right so what do you think when you hear that the price of beer has gone up in Wolverhampton

01:47Um it is... with the cost of living it can be very hard with the cost of living
01:56but you can find it easy if you go out with like family and friends.

02:10There's ways around it with night out with like family and friends and that.
02:14And where do you like to drink in Wolverhampton in particular?
02:16The Billy Wright, mainly.
02:18What is it about the Billy Wright? Is it more affordable to drink in there?
02:21It's a friendly atmosphere and more lively in there.
02:26And what do you think can be done to sort of reduce the price of beer these days?
02:34Things like taxation?
02:35Yeah taxations mainly. Taxation would be the one.
