00:00Hi guys, welcome to the latest LP Eats burger review episode.
00:10Now today, heading across Preston to a place called Grill Shack on Deakdale Road.
00:15Really keen to try this place, got a lot of recommendations for it, feeling hungry today
00:19so yeah, very keen to see what kind of stuff they're serving up.
00:23Grey skies unfortunately so yeah, not getting that late summer spurt of sun but never mind,
00:29we move.
00:30So yeah, let's head on over to Grill Shack, see what it's like, get some grub.
00:41Hi guys, welcome back to our review of Grill Shack.
00:43Now last time I left you, we were just heading over the city from our offices in the media
00:49factory at the university over to Deakdale Road to try Grill Shack.
00:53Now I was really excited about this place, it was kind of somewhat a bit different, we've
00:57not quite had one of this kind of type so far, so really excited to try it out.
01:02Headed over, first things first, so the thing that really catches your eye about this place
01:06is the kind of modern neon signage outside, it's one of those kind of very hip and glitzy
01:12eye-catching kind of places which you kind of see more and more in city centres these
01:18days.
01:19So yeah, nice start to it all, very welcoming, very glitzy and glam so headed in to see if
01:25the food could kind of match the exterior of this place and yeah, the vibe was good,
01:30loads of people in there, dead busy, something which I noticed was that the phone was kind
01:34of ringing off the hook so that's always nice to see because yeah, shows it's popular.
01:38So yeah, for the vibe I'm going to give them a 4 out of 5, it was really good in there.
01:42Service took a slightly longer than you'd want but they were making everything fresh
01:46so not really a complaint, it's just a comment, you know, they make it fresh, it's not just
01:50sat there under a heat lamp so positive I guess.
01:53On to the burger itself, now I was hungry, I was really, really hungry so I thought right,
01:57I'll get the burger, I'll double it up, I'll get the cheeseburger, make it a double cheeseburger,
02:01get some fries and you can get doner meat as well for a quid so I thought yeah, I'll
02:05do that, why not, you only live once, let's go for it.
02:08So went for that and got this heaving takeaway container of seriously hefty grub.
02:16Now that was a good thing, like I say, I was really hungry on this day so brilliant news
02:20for me but just for anyone else looking for something, this thing is going to fill you
02:24up, it's going to satisfy you, it was brilliant.
02:27So the meat, the burgers were like, almost like spicy, they weren't kind of like classic
02:32ground beef, they were more like McDonald's patties but spicier and way better than McDonald's,
02:37that kind of vibe though and the whole burger itself actually reminded me of McDonald's,
02:41actually one of my colleagues was there when I was eating and she was like, oh that smells
02:45so much like McDonald's, I was like, it really does but it's like McDonald's plus, it was
02:50next level compared to anything you'll ever get at Maccy's so positive on that front.
02:53The meat itself, slightly thinner patties, not got that natural juiciness but they were
02:57very tasty, nice and seasoned nicely, bit of spice to them as well so that was a positive,
03:02two of them which is always good, like I said I doubled up so that was good.
03:05I'm going to give them a 3.5 out of 5 for the meat, as for the moisture, like I say,
03:12the patties themselves weren't, it feels like I'm complaining but it's not, they weren't
03:16the classic thick, juicy, biting some, you've got napkins everywhere because of how much
03:21juiciness are in them so the moisture wasn't 100% there but the salad was really good so
03:26that brought a lot to it, there was sauce on the salad, there was a nice bit of cheese
03:29as well, none of it was dry without it being moist if you know what I mean, it wasn't one
03:34or the other but it wasn't a bad thing either, I didn't notice it thinking, oh god this needs
03:39a bit of something so I'm going to give them a 3.5 out of 5 on that front as well.
03:43Now we're coming to the things which really make Grillshack stand out, one, the extras,
03:48I know I went for the extras, I went for the fries and the doner but the doner was outstanding,
03:55brilliant, just what you want from doner meat, it was spicy, it was fresh, it was juicy,
04:02it was, everything about it was just bang on, perfect, loads of sauce on there, chilli
04:07sauce, garlic sauce, brilliant, my mouth's watering just thinking about it, 10 out of
04:1110, 5 out of 5, brilliant, the chips, crispy without being like, you know when you get
04:15hard chips sometimes, they're crispy all the way through, these didn't have that, they
04:19had that fluffiness in the middle still, that was great, they were seasoned really nice
04:23as well, they weren't just plain chips, they had a bit of almost like a salt and pepper
04:26chip vibe to them-ish, they were great, brilliant, salad on the burger was great, 5 out of 5
04:33for the extras at Grillshack, they knocked it out of the park, just brilliant, no notes
04:38whatsoever, perfect, as for the value, 5 out of 5 as well, this whole thing, which
04:43is massive, cost me £6, zero complaints whatsoever, that is a bargain, that might be the biggest
04:48bargain I've ever encountered during this LP Eats series and the previous LP Eats series
04:53which we did on kebabs as well in this city, so just such good value for money, check it
04:57out yourself, it's, yeah, such kind of like good value for money when you're getting that
05:03much change from a tenner and you're getting that much food, so seriously impressive marks
05:07on that from, which I believe gives them a total score, let me just check my notes,
05:12of 21 out of 25, which is seriously good scores, especially from when you compare it to like
05:18those inner city glitzy places which are almost like sit down meal burger places, for like
05:24your proper classic takeaway burger spot to be scoring that high, I think so impressive,
05:29I love this spot, I hope I get a chance to go back at some other point because I loved
05:34it, it was great, just what you want from a lunchtime meal, filled me up, satisfied,
05:38didn't cost me that much cash, what's this complain about, really really good score from
05:42Grillshack, loved it, I'll definitely be heading back there, you should check it out yourself as
