00:00:00How about testing your observation skills? Each next level is trickier than the previous.
00:00:05Remember to note down your score. You'll get one point for each correct answer.
00:00:09You'll find your results at the end of the video.
00:00:12Level one, newbie!
00:00:15Which person is different from the others?
00:00:26Right, this one with shorter hair.
00:00:29Try to figure out which emoji is the odd one.
00:00:40The one at the bottom. Not only does it feel hot, it also looks pretty angry.
00:00:46I challenge you to find a cat that is different from the rest.
00:00:59Right, it's the one closer to the bottom facing away from you. Which image is the odd one?
00:01:14This little rebel is turned in the opposite direction. Have you noticed anything wrong with this picture?
00:01:29The ball. It's for playing soccer, not basketball. Which cow is different from the others?
00:01:46This one, moo. How about these burgers? Does any of them stand out?
00:01:59Ah, this burger is smaller than the rest. There's something wrong in this picture. What exactly?
00:02:15It's the river. It just seems to disappear under the bridge. Which emoji is the odd one?
00:02:29The one missing its mouth. There's something that doesn't seem quite right in this picture, but what?
00:02:48Its colors are a bit messed up. Which emoji is different than the others?
00:02:59It's the one with both its eyes open. These smiley faces look cool, all but one.
00:03:18This emoji isn't actually all that smiley. There's something wrong with this keyboard. Can you figure out what exactly?
00:03:29There are two eights on it and no nines. Which pooch is the odd one?
00:03:50This doggie seems to be friendlier than the rest.
00:03:53Well, this level didn't seem too hard to me, but are you up for some real challenge?
00:04:12Right, it's the one with the heart-shaped pit. Which emoji is different from the others?
00:04:23This little guy is just a wannabe. It isn't a unicorn, it's a horse. Can you find the odd emoji?
00:04:43The one at the bottom seems to be even more in love than the rest. One of these music notes is different. Which one?
00:04:53Ah, now I see it. What's wrong with this picture?
00:05:13The calendars claim it's August 2018, but the computer is sure it's still August 2017.
00:05:21Can you spot a teddy bear without a hat?
00:05:35There's something strange about this picture, but what exactly?
00:05:39One of the birds doesn't have a reflection. Ew, creepy. Which sheep is different from the others?
00:05:56This one. Don't you think there's something wrong in this image?
00:06:17I've got only one question. How did this massive ship get inside?
00:06:23Which emoji is the odd one?
00:06:33This one. Its zipper is on the left, not on the right. Look at this picture closely and find what's wrong here.
00:06:42The clock showed different time. And now, find two things missing in this image.
00:06:57The bus lacks side mirrors and windshield wipers. Try to figure out which emoji is the odd one.
00:07:14This is a left hand, while the others are right ones. Which couple is different from the others?
00:07:29The one in the middle. There, the man is still hiding the ring behind his back.
00:07:42One guy is somehow different from the rest. Which one?
00:07:46It's the guy wearing a watch on his wrist. To tell you the truth, I even paused the video once or twice to figure out the answer, but there's still level 3 ahead. Level 3, mind-boggling.
00:08:09Find the penguin whose bill is missing.
00:08:20Here it is. Now I see why this level is called mind-boggling.
00:08:25Which magician is different from the others?
00:08:27Look at this one. His robe is not blue, but green. What's wrong with this picture?
00:08:42Electric trains have doors on both sides of the car. How fast will you find an extra pom-pom?
00:08:58This red ball is neither a nose nor a pom-pom. Can you spot an apple in this image?
00:09:14Ah, this is where it's hiding. Something is wrong in this picture, but I can't figure out what exactly.
00:09:30The ferry lights on the tree are shining, but they aren't plugged in. Which emoji is the odd one?
00:09:55Unlike the others, these arrows are all pointing in one direction. Find two identical snowmen as fast as you can.
00:10:13Here they are, the coolest ones. Can you spot a rabbit among these cats?
00:10:24This bunny is a guru of disguise. A candy cane is hiding among these gift boxes. Do you see it?
00:10:44Nice try, but I'm too attentive to fail that. Which image is different from the rest?
00:10:54This dog is definitely a different breed. Find the odd emoji.
00:11:14This guy is way more evil than the others. One cat is somehow different, but can you figure out which one it is?
00:11:24This one, because it's not a cat, but an owl. There's something wrong in this image, but to figure out what, you need to be very attentive.
00:11:41This guy is wearing swimming goggles. One elephant is different from the others. Which one?
00:11:57The one at the bottom. This level has indeed messed with my mind. And now, are you looking forward to finding out your results?
00:12:15If your score is 0-15 points, you need to pay more attention to small details. As soon as you start working more on your observation skills, your results will get much better.
00:12:27If you've got 16-30 points, you have a sharp eye. If you practice more, you'll become a pro in no time.
00:12:35If you have 31-45 correct answers, you can spot the tiniest details and figure out the answers to the trickiest riddles. Nothing can escape your eagle eye.
00:12:46Believe it or not, this optical illusion will let you know if you should drive in the rain or not. Take a look at this image. Try to find the sequence of numbers hidden inside it.
00:13:04Okay, go! Did you say 3,452,839? If you did, then your contrast sensitivity is on point.
00:13:21The so-called contrast sensitivity helps you to clearly see the outline of small objects. If this feature is not well developed in your system, then you shouldn't really drive in the rain or even when it's foggy out.
00:13:38Take a look at this image. What animal is not depicted here? A rabbit, a duck, or a snail? The picture definitely doesn't depict a snail. Way to go if you got that right!
00:14:02How many different scenes can you spot in this image? Three? Four? Take a guess. It's only two. You should be able to see the chalice in the first scene. And then, when you change your focus, you should be able to spot the profile of two faces with a white background.
00:14:31Okay, take a look at both images. Can you tell if the circle on the right is larger than the circle on the left? Believe it or not, these two circles are actually the exact same size!
00:14:49This illusion is known as the Ebbinghaus illusion, and it was discovered by a German physiologist in the early 1900s. One of the possible explanations for why our brain glitches when looking at this image is due to the size of the external circles. Since the circles on the right are much bigger, they make the one from the right look smaller than the one on the left.
00:15:11Can you stare at this parrot's eye for 15 seconds? Just keep staring at it. I'll tell you when you can close your eyes. You're about to witness a great example of an afterimage. Three, two, one, and close your eyes.
00:15:41Can you see a red parrot? Isn't it amazing that even though this parrot is black and white, you have the illusion of seeing the color red? Again, this is just your brain trying to guess the color of something.
00:16:01Behind all of these little black dots, there's an image. Are you part of the 1% of people that can see it? It's a minion! Congrats if you spotted that!
00:16:23Here's another one in this style. Can you see what's hidden here? It's a ninja turtle! Honestly, did you need to be a bit of a ninja to see that one?
00:16:43And what about this one? My my, it's Homer Simpson! So now there's something hidden behind black stripes. How's your x-ray vision working?
00:17:10You got it if you said it's one of the dragons from How to Train Your Dragon. That's cute.
00:17:20Can you tell which circle in this image is the darkest one?
00:17:30Uh oh, that was totally a trick question! All the circles are exactly the same color. This is a classic example of the saturation optical illusion. It shows how our brain perceives color in a very subjective way. The lighting and background of an object influence how we see it. So when the gray circle is put against a darker background, we tend to believe it's brighter than its true color. And vice versa.
00:17:58This illusion is called the impossible triangle. But wait, what makes it so impossible? You only have a few seconds to figure that out.
00:18:15The so-called Penrose Triangle is also known as the impossible triangle because it could never exist in reality. This magical triangle defies the laws of Euclidean geometry. If you follow the ball sliding on the surface of the triangle from the top point, you'll notice something strange.
00:18:34It looks like the left side of the triangle is extending away from the viewer while the right side is closer to you. The Penrose Triangle is the type of geometrical figure that can only exist as an optical illusion. Because this is what it looks like if we dismember it. Not a triangle at all, huh?
00:18:58Take a look at this image. Which line do you think continues the black one? The red line or the blue line?
00:19:05As much as it looks like it's the blue line, it's actually the red line. This illusion was first talked about in the 1960s, and it's called the Poggendorf illusion. This is a classic example of how our brain perceives geometric shapes and depth.
00:19:27According to scientists, our brain tries to perceive two-dimensional pictures with three-dimensional properties. This is why it distorts the depth between lines in this image. Pretty intense, huh?
00:19:38Take a look at this staircase. Now let's flip the image upside down. It still looks like a staircase, but instead of going from right to left, it looks like it's going from left to right. Don't blink though. If you blink, the illusion will disappear and you will be left with the original image.
00:20:00This illusion is known as Schroeder's staircase, and it was invented by a German scientist, Heinrich Schroeder, back in 1858. It's really simple, but it talks about the same principle we saw in the previous illusion.
00:20:20If we dismember the staircase, you'll notice that the image is actually flat. What our brain perceives as a three-dimensional image is just a combination of shadow and light. This means that the 3D itself is already an optical illusion.
00:20:37This happens because our brain captures images and tries to fit them into what it already knows. It sees a shadow in a 2D image and it understands it as depth. Basically, it creates an unreal perspective of the object in front of our eyes. In this case, we call it a three-dimensional perspective.
00:20:57These circles seem to be moving pretty much everywhere they're told. Do you believe they are really moving, or could we say that they're stationary?
00:21:17I know it's hard to believe, but they're not moving an inch. This illusion has baffled the Internet, but this is what's going on behind the scenes. There's a very, very thin inner and outer edge to these circles, and these edges are a different color than the bulk of the circle.
00:21:35To create the illusion, animators make these outer edges move, but since there's a variation in color, our brain interprets it as the entire circle moving. That's why even if we block the arrows, we still have the impression that the circles are moving.
00:21:51Take a look at this image. It looks like the square in the middle is breathing, right? Like it's growing in size and then shrinking. What if I told you that it's just rotating, but not changing in size?
00:22:05Here's what's happening. This illusion is called motion binding. It happens when our brain tries to predict the movement of one of the elements in the image. Crazy stuff!
00:22:25Let's try another one. Stare at the cross in the middle of this image for 10 seconds, starting now.
00:22:33Did all of the colors from the image fade away and all you could see was a white page? Bizarrely, our brain just erases all the nuanced colors and leaves you with a white screen.
00:22:56First up, we have what looks like a gray bar moving up and down on an orange background. But if you stare at this little black dot, you may see the gray bar turn into a different color. What color did you see?
00:23:11Did you say blue? Yep, that was it!
00:23:18There's a graphic city with a dot in the middle of it. Stare at this dot for around 10 seconds, starting now.
00:23:27Wow, what just happened? Even after the picture turns black and white, our brain is still able to perceive the original colors. This is another example of an afterimage.
00:23:42Wow, what just happened? Even after the picture turns black and white, our brain is still able to perceive the original colors. This is another example of an afterimage.
00:23:55After we've fed our brain with a fixed image of something, when we turn it black and white, our brain is still trying to guess the colors of it.
00:24:04Lily was walking home from school one day when a huge portal opened up before her. She was curious, so she decided to walk through it.
00:24:15The portal took her straight to the castle of the Great Zormir, a cool magician that had harnessed the power of thousands of Philosopher's Stones.
00:24:23As soon as Lily crossed the portal, he closed it. He told the girl that she had been chosen to take part in a great quest and that she could only leave the castle if she agreed to play his game.
00:24:36She had to answer all of his riddles correctly, and only then he would let her go.
00:24:42For the first riddle, he showed her this image and asked her to figure out what word was hidden in this illusion. Can you help her out?
00:24:52It's the word sun. Way to go, both of you.
00:25:01Zormir liked to play with trickery and illusion, so for his next trick, he called a chef.
00:25:07The guy walked in with a cart filled with Spanish empanadas, and Lily's mouth started watering.
00:25:13He told Lily that she had to eat all of the empanadas, except one, and that she should choose wisely, because that special empanada was poisoned.
00:25:23Take a look at the image. Can you help Li choose which one she shouldn't eat?
00:25:27Let's see. That one on the bottom left corner looks suspicious. It has a green fog coming out of it. It's probably from some heavy type of poison, isn't it?
00:25:46Lily got out of that one okay.
00:25:49Next, Zormir showed Lily a strange painting. He changed the image on the painting to show one of his illusions. Can you figure out which word is hidden here?
00:26:06It's the word never.
00:26:09To get to the next level, Lily had to guess the answer to this simple riddle.
00:26:13Lily had to guess the answer to this simple riddle.
00:26:16What has keys but can't open locks, and speaks without a mouth?
00:26:20It took the girl a while to figure it out, but she got it right.
00:26:24Do you know what she answered?
00:26:34It's a piano.
00:26:37Lily was taken to an empty room in the castle. It had nothing except four doors.
00:26:43The great Zormir told Lily that she had to find a time machine behind one of these doors, and left her a clue.
00:26:50Trust only one of the inscriptions, and it will lead you to the treasure.
00:26:55On each door, there was a sign. The sign on door A said, it's behind B or C.
00:27:03The sign behind door B said, it's behind A or D.
00:27:08Door C said, it's in here. And door D claimed, it isn't here.
00:27:15Can you guess which door Lily opened?
00:27:27Let's see how this would work.
00:27:29If the time machine was behind door A, then both B and D would be true.
00:27:34But if it was behind door B, then both A and D would be true.
00:27:39If it was behind door C, then A, C, and D are all true.
00:27:44But if the time machine was behind door D, then the statements on all the other doors were false, except for that on door B.
00:27:52This matched the rules, so it was behind door D.
00:27:56Lily opened the door and found the time machine.
00:27:59Next to it, there was a super modern digital lock, asking for a code of access.
00:28:05The catch was, as well as numbers, there were emojis.
00:28:09Lily had no idea which combination to press, but she saw that Zormier left a clue on a paper note.
00:28:172 plus 2. 3 plus 3. 7 plus 7. Can you help Lily out here?
00:28:30This is a tricky one.
00:28:33What she needed to do is overlay the numbers on top of each other.
00:28:37Once she's done that, she should flip the numbers on the second row.
00:28:41This way she'd get the image of a fish, of the number 8, and of a triangle.
00:28:46So the correct combination to unlock it was the fish emoji, the number 8, and a triangle. Yikes.
00:28:53The great Zormier had set the time machine back to prehistoric times.
00:28:57So Lily was zapped straight back to the ancient past.
00:29:01Take a look at the image. Can you spot the other time traveler in the picture?
00:29:14Ah, that's the one right there. He's holding a flashlight.
00:29:19I mean, those certainly didn't exist back in the day.
00:29:22Lily went to talk to the other time traveler to see if he knew how she could get back to her normal timeline.
00:29:28He would only answer her question if she answered his riddle correctly.
00:29:32He asked her,
00:29:34What has a heart that doesn't beat, and a bank that doesn't hold a cent?
00:29:47She was extremely confused at this point.
00:29:50She was extremely confused by this one, but she answered,
00:29:54A deck of cards.
00:29:57The guy was impressed and told Lily that to go back to her normal timeline,
00:30:01she had to figure out what was hidden in another of Zormier's illusions.
00:30:05Can you guess what word is hidden here?
00:30:15It's the word dog. Way to go.
00:30:20Lily got back to her normal timeline, but instead of going back to the castle,
00:30:25she found herself stranded on a deserted island.
00:30:28There was a note from Zormier saying,
00:30:30The game is just getting started. You need to find the slang's witch and ask for her help.
00:30:36Take a look at the image. Can you find something that might help Lily find the witch?
00:30:49Ah, you sure have an eye for detail.
00:30:51There are four pieces of torn paper that together form a map.
00:30:55The map leads the way to the witch's abode.
00:30:58Walking through the forest on her way to the witch's house, Lily runs into a bear.
00:31:04She has to make a quick decision.
00:31:06She can either run away from the bear as fast as she can,
00:31:09or she can raise her hands and walk steadily backward until the bear is out of sight.
00:31:14What is Lily's best option?
00:31:20If she ran, the bear might feel under attack and end up hurting her.
00:31:25She should choose the second option.
00:31:27Finally, that looks like a witch's house.
00:31:31She knocks and the witch lets her inside.
00:31:34She asks the witch for help, but the witch is worried about something else.
00:31:39Earlier that day, she was working on a new love potion with the help of her elves.
00:31:43When she noticed that her precious hawk feather was missing,
00:31:47she asked if Lily could find out which elf had taken it.
00:31:50Lily said yes, and began to interview the elves.
00:31:53Arion said that he was giving apples to the fairies halfway through the making of the potion,
00:31:58and that before that, he made sure that the witch had every ingredient she needed for the spell.
00:32:03Elowen said he was at another cauldron,
00:32:06and that he had found the witch's love potion.
00:32:08Elowen said he was at another cauldron, testing an anti-aging potion.
00:32:11He also said he was sure to see the feather before the witch started the job.
00:32:15He also said he was sure to see the feather before the witch started the job.
00:32:20Ellaria was sorting out the bad herbs from the herbs all afternoon,
00:32:24and didn't notice anything weird going on in the house.
00:32:27Lily took some time to think about the elves' testimony,
00:32:31and finally figured out the answer.
00:32:33Can you tell who did it?
00:32:38It wasn't any of the elves.
00:32:41Lily noticed that the feather had fallen down,
00:32:44and was stuck in a crack on the floor.
00:32:47The witch must have let it fall down and didn't notice it on the floor.
00:32:51The witch was happy with Lily's help,
00:32:54and told her she would help Lily run away from the great Zormir.
00:32:58She opened three portals,
00:33:00and let Lily choose the one she wanted to go through.
00:33:03The first portal was the one where the witch was hiding.
00:33:05She let Lily choose the one she wanted to go through.
00:33:08The first portal would lead Lily to New York City.
00:33:11The second portal would lead her directly to her school.
00:33:14And the last portal would lead her to a beautiful island in the Bahamas.
00:33:19Take a look at the image.
00:33:21Which portal should she choose?
00:33:31Well, it could be fun to visit New York City,
00:33:33but there's a huge snowstorm going on.
00:33:36And why would anyone want to go to an island surrounded by sharks?
00:33:40Lily should just go back to school.
00:33:42She skipped enough classes.
00:33:45They say seeing is believing.
00:33:48But is it really so?
00:33:50Optical illusions have a mind-boggling way to trick our brains.
00:33:53They use a combination of colors, light, or particular patterns
00:33:57that can make us see things that aren't there.
00:34:00Today, we're taking our brains for a test drive to see how these illusions work.
00:34:05If you look at this image attentively,
00:34:08you'll notice a moving square that appears to be changing tones.
00:34:11What shades do you see?
00:34:13Dark, then light, then dark again.
00:34:15Wrong. The square doesn't change color at all.
00:34:18The creator of this illusion is a Japanese psychologist and artist,
00:34:22Akiyoshi Kitaoka.
00:34:24According to him, you can see your own brain changing its guess
00:34:27about the color of the square.
00:34:30Color is already an illusion created by our brains.
00:34:33It happens so that the color is created inside our visual systems.
00:34:37What our eyes perceive as blue is actually a wavelength
00:34:41that is reflected as that color.
00:34:43Neuroscientists say that about 50% of our brain
00:34:47is involved in the vision process.
00:34:49Visual signals are dispersed to more than 30 areas of our brain.
00:34:53Each area has a special function to process color,
00:34:55motion, depth, and form.
00:34:58All this information is combined, and voila!
00:35:01We can distinguish shape and color.
00:35:04Funnily enough, neuroscientists still don't understand
00:35:07the details of how all this happens.
00:35:09And neither do we, but we sure give it a try.
00:35:12Moving on, let's take a look at this staircase.
00:35:15It looks pretty simple, right?
00:35:17Well now, let's flip the image upside down.
00:35:20It still looks like a staircase,
00:35:22but instead of going from right to left,
00:35:23it looks like it's going from left to right.
00:35:26But don't blink.
00:35:28If you blink, the illusion will disappear,
00:35:30and you will be left with the original image.
00:35:32Whoa, I think my brain just got really tired.
00:35:36This illusion is known as Schroeder's staircase,
00:35:39and it was invented by a German scientist, Heinrich Schroeder,
00:35:42back in 1858.
00:35:44It's really simple, yet it reveals a fundamental mechanism
00:35:47of how our brain works.
00:35:49Let's understand why.
00:35:50If you sort of disassemble the staircase,
00:35:53you'll notice that the image is flat.
00:35:55What our brain perceives as a 3D image
00:35:57is just a combination of shadow and light.
00:36:00This means that the 3D itself is already an optical illusion.
00:36:05This happens because our brain captures images
00:36:08and tries to fit them into what it already knows.
00:36:11So it sees a shadow in a 2D image,
00:36:13and it understands depth.
00:36:15Basically, it creates an unreal perspective
00:36:17of the object in front of our eyes.
00:36:20In this case, we call it a three-dimensional perspective.
00:36:24In 2020, Japanese mathematician Kokichi Sugihara
00:36:29took this illusion one step further.
00:36:31Let's take a look.
00:36:33At first glance, it looks just like a regular staircase.
00:36:36Again.
00:36:38But now, let's place an object at the top of the staircase
00:36:41and flip it at a 100-degree angle.
00:36:43I can't believe my eyes with this one.
00:36:46The object that appeared to be on top
00:36:47suddenly looks like it's at the bottom of the staircase.
00:36:50No wonder this work won Best Illusion of 2020.
00:36:53According to Sugihara,
00:36:55with this illusion, we are literally witnessing
00:36:57the way our brain tricks us into perceiving unreal things.
00:37:01At the heart of the illusion is a simple trick.
00:37:04The stairs aren't really stairs.
00:37:06They continue to be a flat 2D surface,
00:37:08making clever use of angles and shading
00:37:11to trick our brains.
00:37:13The 2D image was printed
00:37:14and glued into a basic 3D structure.
00:37:17But there is no real depth in the stairs,
00:37:19just the illusion of it.
00:37:21Got it?
00:37:23Look at this image for a moment
00:37:25and tell me how many bars you can count.
00:37:27This illusion has left the internet baffled.
00:37:30People have counted as many as 11 bars,
00:37:33but most count about 7 to 8 bars.
00:37:36According to the creator of this image,
00:37:38there are only 6 complete bars.
00:37:40Try counting from top to bottom
00:37:42and you'll notice that the upper bars are real.
00:37:44But by the time you get to the 6th bar,
00:37:47things start to get blurry and confusing.
00:37:49That's because the last 2 bars are incomplete,
00:37:52so when you try to count them,
00:37:54they appear to multiply and only leave you more confused.
00:37:57If you trace your pointer down the 7th and 8th bar,
00:38:00you'll be able to see that they are incomplete.
00:38:03They were only put there to confuse you.
00:38:07Can you tell if the dark blue lines
00:38:09are parallel to each other
00:38:11or whether they're inclined?
00:38:12They sure look crooked,
00:38:14but in reality, they're not.
00:38:16This classical optical illusion
00:38:18was first described over 100 years ago,
00:38:21but it wasn't until the 1970s
00:38:23that it got its current name.
00:38:25The cafe wall illusion.
00:38:27A guy named Steve Simpson
00:38:29noticed a similar effect on the wall of a cafe in Bristol,
00:38:32and here we are.
00:38:34Now, let's see how this works.
00:38:36First, let's blur the image a little bit.
00:38:39Oh, a little bit more.
00:38:40There you go.
00:38:42This way, you'll be able to see
00:38:44that the dark blue lines are parallel to each other.
00:38:46If you look closely,
00:38:48the little black and white bricks
00:38:50at the intersection of wide lines
00:38:52are what made this illusion possible.
00:38:54In addition to that,
00:38:56the curved elements inside the blue lines
00:38:58help to make the elusive effect even stronger.
00:39:00We'll understand why in a little bit.
00:39:03Up next,
00:39:05look at this black square
00:39:07crisscrossed with perpendicular white lines.
00:39:08If you look attentively,
00:39:10you'll notice that the white dots
00:39:12situated at the intersection of the grid
00:39:14shift their color from white to gray and black.
00:39:17When you concentrate on a particular dot,
00:39:19you'll see that it's white,
00:39:21but as soon as your attention wanders,
00:39:23the dot turns gray.
00:39:25That's the Herman grid illusion.
00:39:27Amazing, isn't it?
00:39:29We can take this illusion one step further
00:39:31by positioning white dots
00:39:33at the intersection of gray lines.
00:39:35All of them are placed on top of the black background.
00:39:38If you look at this image for long enough,
00:39:40you'll notice black dots
00:39:42starting to pop up at the intersections of the grid,
00:39:44creating a scintillating effect.
00:39:47Another name for this illusion
00:39:49is a simultaneous light contrast illusion.
00:39:51As you perceive the dots as white at one moment,
00:39:54and then, almost immediately,
00:39:56you see them as black.
00:39:58So, why do our senses
00:40:00let us down by making us see gray
00:40:02or black instead of white?
00:40:04This illusion demonstrates
00:40:05one of the most important principles
00:40:07of human perception.
00:40:09You don't always see things
00:40:11for what they really are.
00:40:13The retinal cells in our eyes
00:40:15act as light receptors.
00:40:17When only one cell receptor gets illuminated,
00:40:20it perceives more light
00:40:22than when its colleagues are also illuminated.
00:40:24This prevents the firing of nearby receptors.
00:40:27With the Herman grid illusion,
00:40:29the white lines are arranged
00:40:31in such a way that there's more light
00:40:33around the intersections
00:40:35Thus, the dots at the intersections
00:40:37are more inhibited
00:40:39and you see darker spots.
00:40:41This next illusion
00:40:43is called the Pac-Man chaser.
00:40:45You'll see why.
00:40:47Stare at the central cross for 5 seconds.
00:40:52The image appears to be in motion,
00:40:54doesn't it?
00:40:56And you might also see a green disc appear
00:40:58in between the lilac spheres
00:41:00from time to time.
00:41:02Now, this image allows us to witness
00:41:03two illusions simultaneously.
00:41:05Even though the image appears
00:41:07to be in continuous motion,
00:41:09nothing here is moving.
00:41:11We promise.
00:41:13This phenomenon is known
00:41:15as the phi phenomenon.
00:41:17It happens when stationary objects
00:41:19are placed side by side
00:41:21and illuminated rapidly
00:41:23one after the other,
00:41:25creating an illusion of movement.
00:41:27Now look at the center of the image again.
00:41:29Can you see the green disc?
00:41:31This illusion is called an afterimage
00:41:33of an item with something else
00:41:35as the original item disappears.
00:41:37But why is it green, you might ask?
00:41:39That's because green
00:41:41is lilac's complementary color.
00:41:43If we were to change the color
00:41:45of the disc to blue,
00:41:47then the color of the gap
00:41:49changes to yellow,
00:41:51which is blue's complementary color.
00:41:53Neat, right?
00:41:55This fresh set of optical illusions
00:41:57will definitely challenge
00:41:59your visual perception.
00:42:01If your brain isn't happy
00:42:03you can watch this astonishing
00:42:05illusionary art with you.
00:42:07Ready?
00:42:09Go full screen
00:42:11and let's get started.
00:42:13Take a look at this pair of circles.
00:42:15It's not an illusion.
00:42:17They're identical
00:42:19and they do rotate.
00:42:21But they don't actually move
00:42:23across the screen.
00:42:25The arrows confuse your brain,
00:42:27so it seems that the circles
00:42:29are shrinking
00:42:31and even moving back and forth.
00:42:33If you manage to focus your gaze
00:42:35so that they stop moving,
00:42:37you're a wizard.
00:42:39What about this shining star?
00:42:41Is it static or dynamic?
00:42:52Although the star seems to be pulsing,
00:42:54its size doesn't change at all.
00:42:57But its popping color
00:42:59creates an illusion of movement.
00:43:01Let's move on to our next one.
00:43:03Check this out.
00:43:05Can you spot any movement?
00:43:15This picture is static.
00:43:17But if you take your time
00:43:19to look at these flowers carefully,
00:43:21your brain will definitely convince you
00:43:23that they're moving.
00:43:25What about this picture?
00:43:34The direction of this pattern
00:43:36makes the brain think that the circle
00:43:38is rotating to the left.
00:43:40But it's a lie.
00:43:42The same goes for this cute pattern.
00:43:53Can you see it spinning around?
00:43:56What about this picture?
00:43:58Can you spot any movement?
00:44:04Well, in this case,
00:44:06it's not surprising
00:44:08because this image is animated.
00:44:10An optical illusion
00:44:12is not always an optical illusion,
00:44:14so be careful.
00:44:16Let's take a look at the next one.
00:44:26This star seems to be dancing
00:44:28because its asymmetrical shape
00:44:30confuses your brain's expectations.
00:44:31Maybe it's time to ask ourselves,
00:44:33what else is my brain
00:44:35lying to me about right now?
00:44:38What can you say
00:44:40about this beautiful pattern?
00:44:42Is it just a basic optical illusion
00:44:44or an animated video?
00:44:54That's right.
00:44:56It's an animation.
00:44:58Here's our next one.
00:44:59If you focus all your attention
00:45:01on the middle of this picture,
00:45:03it will soon begin to move.
00:45:13But in fact,
00:45:15it stays the same.
00:45:17Don't let your brain play tricks on you.
00:45:19Your perception of this image
00:45:21may change if you blink a bunch of times
00:45:23and shake your head.
00:45:25Moving on,
00:45:27take a look at this tricky pattern.
00:45:29Is this image static?
00:45:39Yes, it truly is.
00:45:42Some optical illusions work
00:45:44by fooling around with contrasts
00:45:46in our field of vision.
00:45:56These two circles
00:45:57consist of small rotating striped circles.
00:46:00They appear to change
00:46:02the direction of rotating
00:46:04thanks to how our brains
00:46:06deal with information
00:46:08immediately within our focus.
00:46:10It's different from the way
00:46:12it processes peripheral information.
00:46:14You can see it when you focus
00:46:16on one circle and then on another.
00:46:18Are you dizzy yet?
00:46:20Let's move on to the next one.
00:46:22Zigzag is a great tool
00:46:24to create a bunch of optical illusions
00:46:25when a particular zigzag pattern
00:46:27is animated.
00:46:29Is it?
00:46:37Nope.
00:46:39It's a static picture.
00:46:41Be careful with zigzags.
00:46:43The next optical illusion
00:46:45will make you see with your eyes closed.
00:46:47All you have to do
00:46:49is stare at this Marilyn Monroe's nose
00:46:51at the center of this portrait.
00:46:53Continue staring at the same spot
00:46:55for 30 seconds
00:46:57and try not to blink.
00:46:59Ready?
00:47:017, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
00:47:06Now take a look at your ceiling
00:47:08and blink a bunch of times.
00:47:10Close your eyes.
00:47:12Can you still see the portrait?
00:47:14Don't worry.
00:47:16It'll disappear in a few seconds.
00:47:18This optical illusion
00:47:20is called an afterimage.
00:47:22It appears after you've stared
00:47:23for 30 seconds.
00:47:25Then you close your eyes
00:47:27or look at a white piece of paper afterwards.
00:47:29Overstimulation makes the rods
00:47:31and cones in your eyes
00:47:33lose sensitivity.
00:47:35That's why for a short period afterward
00:47:37you interpret colors
00:47:39as their paired primary color.
00:47:41Now let's take a look
00:47:43at this tricky pattern.
00:47:45Is this image static or dynamic?
00:47:54It's not an optical illusion.
00:47:56This pattern is animated.
00:47:58If you managed to guess,
00:48:00great job!
00:48:02Now let's take a look at this one.
00:48:04Do these spheres move across the screen?
00:48:15Nope, they don't.
00:48:17If you were careful enough
00:48:19you noticed the top moving
00:48:21when you squinted and concentrated
00:48:23your eyes.
00:48:25This optical illusion is static.
00:48:36But if you take your time
00:48:38and focus on the center of the screen
00:48:40it will begin to rotate.
00:48:42Let's move on to our next one.
00:48:44This optical illusion
00:48:46will make you feel like a magician
00:48:48and level up your concentration skills.
00:48:50At this point you probably see
00:48:51these static circles begin to move,
00:48:53pop and spin slightly.
00:48:55But which way?
00:49:05There's no right answer here.
00:49:07The largest circle
00:49:09probably spins to the left.
00:49:11But if you switch your focus
00:49:13to the center of the image
00:49:15the same circle will begin
00:49:17to spin to the right.
00:49:19The movement will change
00:49:21depending on what you're focusing on.
00:49:23Arrows inside these colorful circles
00:49:25may confuse your vision.
00:49:35Try not to look at them
00:49:37and you'll notice that the circles
00:49:39inside this illusion
00:49:41aren't changing their shape
00:49:43or moving at all.
00:49:45It's pretty clear that this crazy watermelon
00:49:47isn't spinning.
00:49:49Isn't it?
00:49:52Nope.
00:49:54If you screw up with your eyes
00:49:56you can verify this
00:49:58by focusing your gaze on the sphere.
00:50:00See?
00:50:02It doesn't move anymore.
00:50:04This figure can begin to move
00:50:06like a snake
00:50:08and the black points will begin
00:50:10to blink white.
00:50:18But don't let your brain fool you
00:50:19this image is still the same.
00:50:21Are you dizzy yet?
00:50:23Let's experiment with disappearing dots.
00:50:26Focus on the central green dot.
00:50:28Try not to blink for a while.
00:50:40You will see one or more
00:50:42of the yellow dots disappearing
00:50:44and then reappearing randomly.
00:50:46Here's another illusion.
00:50:48Here's another illusion
00:50:50with disappearing dots.
00:50:52Thousands of people worldwide
00:50:54complained that this simple optical illusion
00:50:56had made them question reality.
00:50:58There are 12 black dots
00:51:00at the intersections of this image
00:51:02but your brain won't let you
00:51:04see them all at once.
00:51:06Well, how many dots did you count?
00:51:08There are 12 black dots in this image
00:51:10and it's a fact
00:51:12but most people can't see
00:51:14all 12 dots at once.
00:51:16When you're focusing on that black dot
00:51:18in the center of your field of view
00:51:20your visual system
00:51:22is automatically filling in
00:51:24what's going on around it.
00:51:26And this regular pattern of grey lines
00:51:28on a white background
00:51:30makes your brain suggest
00:51:32that there are no black dots at all.
00:51:34This is because
00:51:35your brain suggests
00:51:37that there are no black dots at all.
00:51:39That's why you miss
00:51:41the intermittent black dots
00:51:43or they disappear and reappear
00:51:45as your eye jitters around.
00:51:47This cute animation
00:51:49is also very tricky.
00:51:51It pictures a moon
00:51:53and six stars surrounding it.
00:51:55There's also a dotted circular layer
00:51:57moving in the background.
00:51:59Try not to move your head at all.
00:52:01If you manage to focus your eyes on the moon
00:52:03and stay perfectly still
00:52:05how many of them did you make disappear?
00:52:16There's no one correct answer here.
00:52:18The number of disappeared stars
00:52:20depends on your perception.
00:52:22This tricky wheel
00:52:24can make your brain think
00:52:26that it rotates, but it's a lie.
00:52:36You may notice that the wheel
00:52:38changes the direction
00:52:40when you tilt your head
00:52:42to the right or to the left.
00:52:44This trick will make your hands melt like water.
00:52:46Don't worry, it's not forever.
00:52:48Keep staring at the centre of the screen
00:52:50for 30 seconds.
00:52:52Try not to blink.
00:53:06Now, take a look at your hands.
00:53:08Are they melting?
00:53:10You can also look at some text
00:53:12and notice that your vision is wavy.
00:53:14Take a look at this tricky optical illusion.
00:53:16What can you say about this wheel?
00:53:18Is it static or dynamic?
00:53:20Is it moving?
00:53:22Is it moving?
00:53:24Is it moving?
00:53:26Is it moving?
00:53:28Is it moving?
00:53:30Is it moving?
00:53:32Is it moving?
00:53:33Is it static or dynamic?
00:53:44It's static.
00:53:46Your brain plays tricks on you.
00:53:48Now let's give your eyes a little break
00:53:50by changing the task.
00:53:52Can you spot an odd monkey out?
00:53:54Here it is.
00:53:56Can you find a different monster out?
00:54:08This guy in the right corner
00:54:10doesn't look as happy as the others.
00:54:12There are many zeros in here.
00:54:14Can you also see another hidden number?
00:54:16Can you also see another hidden number?
00:54:18Can you also see another hidden number?
00:54:20Can you also see another hidden number?
00:54:21Can you also see another hidden number?
00:54:32Here it is.
00:54:34Does this pattern consist of red apples only?
00:54:46Nope.
00:54:48Here's one tomato.
00:54:49Can you find two similar emojis
00:54:51among this variety?
00:55:02Here they are.
00:55:04What about this set of emojis?
00:55:06Can you see two identical emojis?
00:55:17Here they are.
00:55:19Take a look at these emojis.
00:55:21Are they all different?
00:55:31Nope.
00:55:33These two emojis are similar.
00:55:35How many emojis can you find
00:55:37among this variety?
00:55:47There are three.
00:55:49What about this collection?
00:55:51Can you spot any identical emojis here?
00:56:02This task is tricky.
00:56:04All these emojis are different.
00:56:06If you managed to crack our trick,
00:56:08good job!
00:56:10Take a look at this set.
00:56:12Can you find a pair of identical emojis?
00:56:20Nope.
00:56:22It's impossible
00:56:24because these two are similar.
00:56:26Does this cat crowd have any odd details?
00:56:36This guy over here is not a cat.
00:56:38It's a rabbit.
00:56:40Can you find a four-leaf clover in here?
00:56:50Here it is.
00:56:52Lucky you!
00:56:55How many shades of grey
00:56:57can you count in this bar?
00:57:05The correct answer is
00:57:07eleven.
00:57:09Nah, just kidding.
00:57:11The bar in the middle is one constant colour.
00:57:13The background makes you see
00:57:15more than one shade of grey here.
00:57:17You can see it if you cover the spaces
00:57:19in the bar.
00:57:21Can you tell which of the surfaces is darker?
00:57:23Is it A or B?
00:57:32Surface A only seems obviously darker.
00:57:34In reality,
00:57:36they are exactly the same colour.
00:57:38Cover the middle of the drawing
00:57:40with your hand to check it.
00:57:42Scientists still can't explain this illusion.
00:57:44One theory says
00:57:46this might be because
00:57:47of the photoreceptors in your eyes.
00:57:49The most active cells
00:57:51reduce the activity in neighbouring ones
00:57:53and this creates a contrast
00:57:55that's not in fact real.
00:57:57Now, find the darkest square in this picture.
00:58:06Whichever square you chose,
00:58:08you can't be right.
00:58:10They're all the same colour,
00:58:12just set against different backgrounds.
00:58:14Moving on,
00:58:15pick either white or black pieces.
00:58:17I'll let you choose.
00:58:25Well, you can't pick black or white here
00:58:27because the pieces are all the same colour.
00:58:29The background
00:58:31and the way you perceive light
00:58:33explains this illusion.
00:58:35How many colours do you see here?
00:58:37I clearly see four.
00:58:39Hmm.
00:58:41It's actually two,
00:58:43red and green,
00:58:45one shade of each.
00:58:47You get the illusion
00:58:49there are different colours here
00:58:51because some of them are surrounded by white
00:58:53and some by green boxes.
00:58:55By the way,
00:58:57white isn't a colour in scientific terms.
00:58:59It's the presence of all colours.
00:59:01That's why we don't count it as one.
00:59:03Here's another one for you.
00:59:04Which side is darker?
00:59:13Nope, it's not the right side.
00:59:15It's one shade of red
00:59:17that seems darker on the right
00:59:19because of the black background.
00:59:21Oh no,
00:59:23this table is tilting to the right
00:59:25and about to turn over.
00:59:27Or is it?
00:59:34No worries.
00:59:36It's perfectly stable.
00:59:38The slanted lines create this tilting effect.
00:59:40Both rectangles are parallel.
00:59:42You can check it with a ruler.
00:59:44How many faults do you see in this square?
00:59:53The correct answer is zero.
00:59:55This square by Walter Ehrenstein
00:59:57is perfect.
00:59:59It seems curved
01:00:01because it's placed inside a pattern
01:00:02of symmetric circles.
01:00:04Would you prefer a rectangular or square table?
01:00:14No matter which one you chose,
01:00:16just take any.
01:00:18They're of exactly the same shape and size.
01:00:21Here's a classic Ponzo illusion.
01:00:23Which of the green lines is longer?
01:00:33It's the one in the foreground.
01:00:35Just kidding, they're the same length.
01:00:37This illusion works
01:00:39because your brain interprets the image
01:00:41with perspective.
01:00:43And it's just a simple 2D image.
01:00:45How about a ride?
01:00:47Do you think this Ferris wheel
01:00:49is moving clockwise or counterclockwise?
01:00:58Sorry guys,
01:01:00the ride is closed today.
01:01:02This is an illusion.
01:01:04Here's an easy one for you.
01:01:06Try to quickly say the color of these words.
01:01:16Hey, it takes forever to focus on the colors
01:01:18without reading them.
01:01:20The right half of your brain
01:01:22is trying to name the colors
01:01:24and the left half is trying to make you say the words.
01:01:26This is known as the Stroop effect
01:01:28and it's used as a test for jobs
01:01:30where concentration is a must.
01:01:32Do you think there are grey dots
01:01:34at the intersections in this grid?
01:01:42The correct answer is zero.
01:01:44This is a Hermann grid illusion.
01:01:46Your brain makes you think
01:01:48there are grey dots at the intersections
01:01:50because of the dark surroundings.
01:01:52If you look closer,
01:01:54all the dots are gone.
01:01:56Another good old classic,
01:01:58Necker cube.
01:02:00This was discovered in the 19th century.
01:02:02It's either on the wall
01:02:04or on the block.
01:02:12Is it the back wall or the side wall?
01:02:14There's no correct answer,
01:02:16so keep guessing.
01:02:18Is this just a set of some geometrical shapes
01:02:20or does it have a secret message?
01:02:30Eureka!
01:02:32Are you up for a helicopter ride?
01:02:34Pick the one with a longer line on top.
01:02:44It's impossible.
01:02:46They're equal in length
01:02:48and the surroundings make you believe otherwise.
01:02:50Time for some magic.
01:02:52You can turn this negative photo
01:02:54into a full-color image
01:02:56with the power of your brain.
01:02:58Stare at the dots at the center of the girl's face
01:03:00for about 30 seconds.
01:03:02Quickly turn your eyes to the center X
01:03:04of the white image on the right of the woman's face.
01:03:07Blink several times.
01:03:09Do you see the image of a girl in full color?
01:03:11If not,
01:03:13try staring at the negative image a bit longer
01:03:15or sit closer or further from your computer monitor.
01:03:17This illusion works
01:03:19when your rods and cones get overstimulated.
01:03:21The cells viewing the darkest part of the image
01:03:23are least affected by this.
01:03:25When you look away,
01:03:27they react the strongest
01:03:29and you can see the reverse of the original image.
01:03:31Some optical illusions with a double meaning
01:03:33can tell a lot about your personality.
01:03:35What do you see here?
01:03:44If it's a profile of a man to you,
01:03:46you're pretty realistic
01:03:48and take things for what they are.
01:03:50You trust others
01:03:52and easily rely on them at work
01:03:54and in your personal life.
01:03:56You mix with new people easily.
01:03:58If you notice the word liar,
01:04:00it's a subtext in everything.
01:04:02It's not easy for you to trust others.
01:04:04Even when things are going just fine,
01:04:06you're always looking for some surprises coming your way.
01:04:09How many pandas do you see in this image?
01:04:20If it's just two,
01:04:22you're an ambitious person focused on your goals.
01:04:24When you have a plan,
01:04:26nothing can take you off your course.
01:04:28You're direct
01:04:30If you saw five pandas or more,
01:04:32you're a really creative person.
01:04:34You always see the little things
01:04:36others might not notice.
01:04:38You get inspiration when you least expect it,
01:04:40even from basic everyday events.
01:04:43What does this one look like to you?
01:04:53If you see a huge eye on the ground,
01:04:55you're a settled person
01:04:57who's pretty content with their life.
01:04:58You have your home,
01:05:00job, and favorite places
01:05:02and wouldn't give up this comfort
01:05:04for some unknown path.
01:05:06If you see a landscape with some deep green abyss
01:05:08or a volcano crater,
01:05:10you long for adventures.
01:05:12You can't wait to explore the world
01:05:14and your biggest fear is settling down
01:05:16and not getting the chance to travel.
01:05:18Time for the next illusion.
01:05:28Those who see a face of a young girl here
01:05:30are pretty emotional and sentimental people.
01:05:32You miss someone or something
01:05:34that made you really happy
01:05:36and still can't let go.
01:05:38Try to accept the best is yet to come
01:05:40into your life.
01:05:42Those who see a young man
01:05:44staring at a landscape here
01:05:46are at the crossroads of their lives.
01:05:48You realize you need some changes to be happier,
01:05:50but you don't know what to start with.
01:05:52All roads are open to you.
01:05:54Just take that first step.
01:05:56Here's a really tricky one.
01:05:58If it looks like a landscape
01:06:00with a horseman to you,
01:06:02you're more extroverted than introverted.
01:06:04You enjoy your alone times,
01:06:06but mostly need the company
01:06:08of others to share with.
01:06:10You're fun, easygoing,
01:06:12and a great team player.
01:06:14If you see a wolf here,
01:06:16you must be more introverted
01:06:18than extroverted.
01:06:20You feel comfortable in your own company
01:06:22and aren't afraid to listen to yourself.
01:06:24You aren't afraid of responsibility
01:06:26and prefer to get all the credit
01:06:28for what you've done.
01:06:30You'll have 5 seconds for each.
01:06:32Let's go!
01:06:34What comes to your mind
01:06:36when you look at this picture?
01:06:44If you noticed one big tiger first,
01:06:47you're pretty happy with your life right now
01:06:49and wake up with a smile.
01:06:51You like your job
01:06:53and have some great friends
01:06:55and a loving family.
01:06:56And just enjoy every day.
01:06:58In case you spotted a landscape
01:07:00with a tree and a little tiger first,
01:07:02you've had some problems in the past
01:07:04that you've managed to solve.
01:07:06But now you're cautious about everything
01:07:08and can't let yourself run around carefree.
01:07:12How about this one?
01:07:22If you saw a beautiful golden landscape
01:07:24with some waterfalls,
01:07:26you probably feel a bit bored at the moment.
01:07:28Everything seems to be fine,
01:07:30but you're missing some bright emotions
01:07:32and adventures.
01:07:34Start with the little things,
01:07:36cook a new meal,
01:07:38or buy some clothes you'd never wear before.
01:07:40If you saw a young girl here first,
01:07:42looks like you've been a bit overwhelmed lately.
01:07:44You're trying to be one step ahead
01:07:46of everyone else at work
01:07:48with your hobbies and personal life.
01:07:50It's okay to give yourself a break
01:07:52and just live your life
01:07:54at your own pace sometimes.
01:07:56If the animals hiding in the landscape
01:07:58have caught your eye,
01:08:00you're pretty happy with everything in your life,
01:08:02but your mind often wanders somewhere else.
01:08:04You run different scenarios in your head
01:08:06of you living a different life
01:08:08that could be even better.
01:08:10Try doing one of the things
01:08:12you've been dreaming about for so long.
01:08:14Moving on,
01:08:16what does this one look like to you?
01:08:17If it's definitely a guitar,
01:08:19you're someone who likes to have a good laugh.
01:08:21Your positive energy
01:08:23spreads onto others easily.
01:08:25That's why you're the heart of any party.
01:08:27You mix with new people well
01:08:29and have like a billion friends.
01:08:31If you're positive
01:08:33it's a landscape with trees
01:08:35reflected in the water,
01:08:37you feel cautious
01:08:39about letting new people
01:08:41too close to you.
01:08:43You might just want to
01:08:44but when you're ready
01:08:46to accept those new people
01:08:48into your life,
01:08:50you build strong bonds
01:08:52and will never let them down.
01:08:54How about this one?
01:09:04Those who see a huge yellow-eyed fish here
01:09:06respect the rules
01:09:08and feel uncomfortable
01:09:10breaking any of them.
01:09:12You prefer to stay out of trouble
01:09:14so you'd never try anything unconventional.
01:09:16You follow the majority
01:09:18and if something goes wrong
01:09:20you're relieved to share the fault
01:09:22with everyone else.
01:09:24If you're one of those people
01:09:26who see a huge ship in this image,
01:09:28you never follow the crowd
01:09:30even if it's going the right way.
01:09:32You're a rebel at heart
01:09:34and you believe rules are meant to be broken.
01:09:36You like to take a chance
01:09:38and often win.
01:09:40Next,
01:09:42is this one all plain to you
01:09:44or is it just me?
01:09:52Those who see a bunch of sheep
01:09:54and a wolf here
01:09:56adapt to changes in life easily.
01:09:58You accept the fact
01:10:00that nothing lasts forever
01:10:02and always look on the bright side
01:10:04to find the positive in everything.
01:10:06This helps you move on
01:10:08and save your energy
01:10:10for more important things than worries.
01:10:12Those who see a big wolf
01:10:14find it easy letting go of people,
01:10:16places, and situations.
01:10:18You don't like change,
01:10:20it confuses you.
01:10:22Even if things aren't perfect,
01:10:24you'd rather leave them the way they are
01:10:26because you're used to them.
01:10:28Sometimes you just have to let things go
01:10:30their own way.
01:10:32It'll save you a lot of nerves.
01:10:34How about this one?
01:10:42If you see a polar bear here,
01:10:44you're an emotionally stable person.
01:10:46You know you can't plan everything in life,
01:10:48so you accept its surprises
01:10:50and find joy in them.
01:10:52You know you won't make fun memories
01:10:54if you stay on a perfectly smooth road.
01:10:56If you clearly see a hand in this image,
01:10:59you love to plan everything in your life.
01:11:01You can't stand it
01:11:03when something doesn't go
01:11:05as you expected it to.
01:11:07You always think of all the possible outcomes
01:11:09before taking even the smallest decision,
01:11:11like what to buy for dinner.
01:11:12Try being more spontaneous.
01:11:14You might like it.
01:11:16Now, taking it one level up,
01:11:18can you see the hidden meaning here?
01:11:29If this one looks like a lake
01:11:31and some swans to you,
01:11:33you're a realist who's mostly in a good mood.
01:11:35You don't expect too much
01:11:37from anything or anyone.
01:11:39You're kind and forgiving
01:11:40and can explain and accept any behavior.
01:11:42It helps you protect yourself
01:11:44from disappointments.
01:11:46If you saw a band playing in the mountains,
01:11:48you're more comfortable
01:11:50in the world of your own dreams
01:11:52than in reality.
01:11:54You have your vision
01:11:56of how things should work out,
01:11:58and you feel sad when other people
01:12:00aren't as brave, nice, and caring
01:12:02as you expect them to.
01:12:04Try taking it easier on them.
01:12:06How about this one?
01:12:11If the first thing you saw here
01:12:13was a vase,
01:12:15you don't like to stay in the spotlight.
01:12:17You're a talented and creative person,
01:12:19but you're a bit shy
01:12:21and don't like it
01:12:23when other people are staring at you.
01:12:25That's why you prefer to express yourself
01:12:27through writing, drawing,
01:12:29or similar arts that don't take you
01:12:31directly on stage.
01:12:33If you clearly saw two profiles
01:12:35in this one,
01:12:37you love attention so much
01:12:38that you make a little show
01:12:40out of everything.
01:12:42You can make a loud joke
01:12:44or start singing
01:12:46as you go grocery shopping.
01:12:48You have plenty of energy,
01:12:50and the only way
01:12:52to let it all out
01:12:54is to get on stage
01:12:56and get all the eyes
01:12:58looking at you.
01:13:00This one looks pretty abstract.
01:13:02What do you think about it?
01:13:04Those who are sure
01:13:06it's an old man
01:13:08are funny.
01:13:10You plan your budget
01:13:12and never buy things
01:13:14you didn't plan to.
01:13:16You know your priorities well,
01:13:18and you don't feel like
01:13:20you're depriving yourself
01:13:22of anything.
01:13:24Saving makes you happy.
01:13:26Those who spotted a horse
01:13:28in this image
01:13:30are trying to stick to a budget,
01:13:32but it doesn't always work out.
01:13:34You could be saving
01:13:36for a new car
01:13:38moving on.
01:13:40What can you say about this drawing?
01:13:49If you saw an old man's profile
01:13:51here first,
01:13:53you believe that you can achieve
01:13:55anything in life
01:13:57if you give it your all.
01:13:59You're patient and stubborn
01:14:01in a good way.
01:14:03You set goals
01:14:05and fulfill them
01:14:06If you saw a man on a horse,
01:14:08a river,
01:14:10and a figure on the ground,
01:14:12you believe in destiny.
01:14:14You think lots of things
01:14:16are just meant to be.
01:14:18You aren't lazy or anything,
01:14:20but you're sure sometimes
01:14:22success is just a matter of luck.
01:14:24When you have an uneasy choice to make,
01:14:26you prefer to wait it out
01:14:28and let the problem solve itself.
01:14:30Next please!
01:14:32This one feels so cold.
01:14:34What do you see here?
01:14:37If it looks like a snowy mountain to you,
01:14:39comfort is your priority.
01:14:41Your home means the world to you,
01:14:43and you don't like to move
01:14:45from place to place.
01:14:47You can't focus on anything
01:14:49or get details done in a mess.
01:14:51You're ready to spend money and effort
01:14:53on nice little details.
01:14:55In case you saw a huge face first,
01:14:57and no, it's not me,
01:14:59you prefer to invest
01:15:01in memories and emotions.
01:15:03You'd love to sleep under the stars
01:15:04as long as it takes you
01:15:06to a new place
01:15:08with people you love.
01:15:10You don't buy too many things
01:15:12because they make moving problematic.
01:15:14All you really need
01:15:16fits in one backpack,
01:15:18and you're happy it's so.
01:15:20What comes to your mind
01:15:22when you look at this image?
01:15:29If it's definitely a zebra to you,
01:15:31you enjoy arranging surprises
01:15:32for your loved ones.
01:15:34You prefer giving to receiving,
01:15:36and you'd go to the end of the world
01:15:38to make your family and friends happy.
01:15:40Their happiness
01:15:42is the best feedback to you.
01:15:44If you see some trees here,
01:15:46looks like you prefer getting gifts
01:15:48to giving them to others.
01:15:50You never show it even if you aren't
01:15:52100% happy with a gift,
01:15:54and it makes people feel
01:15:56like they know you so well,
01:15:58and they made your day.
01:16:00So you're doing a good thing your way.
01:16:02Wow, you'll have 5 seconds
01:16:04for each of the illusions.
01:16:06Get ready for your mind to be bent.
01:16:08Can you tell which of the two
01:16:10yellow lines is longer?
01:16:12Seems obvious to me.
01:16:16Oh wow, I was wrong.
01:16:18None of them is longer.
01:16:20They are exactly the same length.
01:16:22This is a Ponzo illusion,
01:16:24not a Ponzi scheme.
01:16:26Your brain judges an object's size
01:16:28based on its background.
01:16:30Here, your brain decides
01:16:32that it has to be longer
01:16:34to catch up with the line that's closer.
01:16:36Here's another one for you.
01:16:38Do you think these lines
01:16:40are parallel to each other?
01:16:44Yep, they perfectly are.
01:16:46Again, your brain judges them
01:16:48based on their surroundings.
01:16:50All those short intersecting lines
01:16:52make you believe the longer lines
01:16:54are messed up.
01:16:56What about the red lines in this image?
01:16:58Are they straight or curved?
01:17:02This is the Herring illusion.
01:17:04The seemingly curved lines
01:17:06are perfectly straight
01:17:08and parallel to each other.
01:17:10The background makes you think otherwise.
01:17:12How many colors can you see here?
01:17:18Did you get red, purple, and green?
01:17:20In that case, you're all wrong.
01:17:22If you zoom in on this illustration,
01:17:24you can see all the spheres
01:17:26are of the same color.
01:17:28The stripes in the foreground
01:17:30make you believe the spheres
01:17:32are of the same color.
01:17:34If you zoom in on that foreground
01:17:36from the image,
01:17:38you'll see all the spheres are beige.
01:17:40Welcome to Ames room.
01:17:42Nothing is impossible here.
01:17:44Which of these two people
01:17:46do you think is larger?
01:17:51An Ames room only seems to be
01:17:53a normal rectangular construction.
01:17:55It has slanted walls
01:17:57and an inclining ceiling and floor.
01:17:59The right corner is closer to you
01:18:00than is used to rectangular rooms,
01:18:02so it corrects the image for you.
01:18:04The room seems normal,
01:18:06and the people inside seem weird.
01:18:08How many prongs
01:18:10do you think this trident has?
01:18:16The correct number is 3.
01:18:18Nah, just kidding.
01:18:20That would be too obvious.
01:18:22The empty space between the prisms
01:18:24forms the central prong.
01:18:26Take a closer look at the top of the prongs.
01:18:28There are just two openings.
01:18:30What's hiding here?
01:18:35The secret here
01:18:37is to shake your head back and forth,
01:18:39or you can zoom out on the image.
01:18:41When you see the tiny version of it,
01:18:43it's obvious there's a cat
01:18:45hiding behind all those lines.
01:18:47Now, focus on one point of this image
01:18:49for at least 15 seconds.
01:18:51Don't think of anything else,
01:18:53just keep looking.
01:18:55Can you see the image disappearing?
01:19:01It happens
01:19:03because the neurons in your brain
01:19:05filter information.
01:19:07They decide what's essential
01:19:09and what's useless.
01:19:11When you focus on one point,
01:19:13your brain receives no new information.
01:19:15Your peripheral vision
01:19:17takes new data
01:19:19from the surrounding white background
01:19:21and adapts the graphic to it.
01:19:23Here's the next illusion for you.
01:19:25Can you tell if the circles are moving
01:19:27or not?
01:19:28Can you tell if the circles are moving
01:19:30or standing still?
01:19:36This image isn't animated.
01:19:38It's an example of a peripheral drift illusion
01:19:40that makes you see still images
01:19:42as moving ones.
01:19:44When you stare at one part of the image
01:19:46without blinking,
01:19:48that part stops moving.
01:19:50Can you count all the black dots
01:19:52in this image?
01:19:543, 4, 6?
01:19:56There are 12 of them,
01:19:58but you can't see them all at once.
01:20:00That's because your peripheral vision
01:20:02fails you at tasks like this.
01:20:05What do you see in this image?
01:20:11If you're sure there are some lines
01:20:13and a light blue circle in the middle,
01:20:15you're wrong.
01:20:17The background is entirely white.
01:20:19You see the non-existent
01:20:21light blue circle
01:20:23and your brain adds color
01:20:25into the bare negative spaces.
01:20:27What about this one?
01:20:29What colors are these funky shapes?
01:20:34Just like in the previous illusion,
01:20:36they're all empty and white.
01:20:38That's a watercolor illusion.
01:20:40Your brain fills in the shape
01:20:42that has a bright line
01:20:44and a darker line at its borders
01:20:46with a brighter color.
01:20:48Now, can you tell if this image is 3D?
01:20:53It's perfectly flat.
01:20:55The white shade in the middle
01:20:57creates the bulge effect.
01:20:59If you move closer,
01:21:01you'll notice it's spread its luminance.
01:21:03The task here is simple.
01:21:05Follow this spiral
01:21:07from the beginning to the end.
01:21:10Gotcha!
01:21:12You can't do it
01:21:14because this spiral isn't a spiral.
01:21:16It's made up of concentric circles.
01:21:18Your brain fills in the gaps for you
01:21:20because it's confused
01:21:21by the background.
01:21:23Can you tell which rectangles are darker?
01:21:29Believe it or not,
01:21:31the rectangles under columns A and B
01:21:33are the exact same color.
01:21:35The surrounding black and white bars
01:21:37make you believe column A is way darker.
01:21:40Can you find the right shadow
01:21:42for this fun couple?
01:21:48No, it's this one.
01:21:49Only one of the locks is unlocked.
01:21:51Can you spot it in 5 seconds?
01:21:58Good job!
01:22:00This drawing is missing one piece.
01:22:02Pick the right one
01:22:04out of the 3 possible options.
01:22:10Well done!
01:22:12There's a little mouse
01:22:14hiding somewhere between the mushrooms.
01:22:16Your task is to find it.
01:22:20There it is!
01:22:22Cute little thing.
01:22:24One of these jellyfish can't swim
01:22:26because it's an air balloon.
01:22:28Can you see it?
01:22:34Well, it does look a lot like a jellyfish.
01:22:37What's that chirping?
01:22:39All birds but one are having a chat.
01:22:41One of them doesn't speak their language.
01:22:49It's a snail right here.
01:22:51I'd love to have some coffee.
01:22:53Please help me find it.
01:23:00Yay, it was hiding here all the time.
01:23:03All penguins look alike,
01:23:05but one is more special than the others.
01:23:07Can you spot it?
01:23:13This little guy right here
01:23:15has slightly different eyes.
01:23:17Let's take it one level up.
01:23:19Can you find the odd one out here?
01:23:26You could be a detective
01:23:28with your sharp eyes.
01:23:30One of these plants is slightly different
01:23:32from the others.
01:23:34You have 5 seconds to find it.
01:23:39Here it is!
01:23:41All these moons must produce
01:23:43a lot of light.
01:23:45Pick the odd one out.
01:23:50I knew it!
01:23:52How about a little safari?
01:23:54The zebra on the right
01:23:56is different from its pal on the left
01:23:58in 5 ways.
01:24:00Can you name them all?
01:24:05I only found 3 differences.
01:24:07Oh, now I see.
01:24:09How about these lions?
01:24:16Again, there are 5
01:24:17not-so-obvious differences between them.
01:24:19Did you get them all?
01:24:21What about these antelopes?
01:24:28Oh, I didn't see the red nose.
01:24:31What a beautiful and peaceful landscape!
01:24:34It's different from the one on the left
01:24:36in 5 ways.
01:24:38Name them all.
01:24:43Well done!
01:24:45Here are 2 scenes
01:24:47of busy city life for you.
01:24:49The task remains the same.
01:24:55I only managed to find
01:24:573 differences here.
01:24:59Let's go see some waterfalls.
01:25:01Something is wrong
01:25:03with the second image.
01:25:08I got it!
01:25:10What about you?
01:25:12The fall is my favorite season.
01:25:14Can you notice 5 ways
01:25:15that don't match?
01:25:21Fantastic!
01:25:23It's beach time,
01:25:25but you can't relax
01:25:27until you find 5 differences here.
01:25:33Wow!
01:25:35Enjoy your well-deserved rest!
01:25:37All right, enough.
01:25:39Moving on!
01:25:41What you see in the next images
01:25:43can tell a lot about your personality.
01:25:46If it's a woman reading a book to you,
01:25:48you're a practical
01:25:50and goal-oriented person.
01:25:52You work a lot,
01:25:54you're great at planning
01:25:56and know how to keep your emotions under control.
01:25:58Those who notice Salvador Dali's face
01:26:00first of all are artists at heart.
01:26:02Even if your job doesn't have to do
01:26:04with creativity,
01:26:06you find your own ways
01:26:08to express yourself through drawing,
01:26:10writing, or music.
01:26:12If you noticed an armchair first,
01:26:13you look for easy and obvious solutions
01:26:15in your life.
01:26:17You always surprise everyone else
01:26:19with your unique vision of the world.
01:26:21How about this one?
01:26:23What do you see here?
01:26:27If they're women with umbrellas to you,
01:26:29you've plenty of friends
01:26:31because you're open-minded
01:26:33and mix with new people easily.
01:26:35You enjoy spending time
01:26:37surrounded by others
01:26:39and share everything with them.
01:26:41If it's a sad man's face to you,
01:26:43sometimes you need to stop
01:26:45and think about life.
01:26:47At these moments,
01:26:49you prefer to be alone.
01:26:51You don't have that many friends,
01:26:53but you're loyal
01:26:55and always ready to help them.
01:26:57All right,
01:26:59what can you say about this image?
01:27:01If it's a man sitting down
01:27:03by the water to you,
01:27:05you must be smart and careful
01:27:07with what you do and what you say.
01:27:09You always think twice
01:27:11before making an important decision
01:27:13If you see a face here,
01:27:15you're more emotional than rational.
01:27:17You'll always pick a new and unknown path
01:27:19and never think for too long
01:27:21when you have to make a decision.
01:27:23It's easy to make you cry or smile,
01:27:25but you get over things quickly as well.
01:27:27Here's another illusion for you.
01:27:34If it looks like a couple
01:27:36of playful squirrels to you,
01:27:38you must be a natural explorer.
01:27:40You don't feel happy staying in one place
01:27:41and are always the first
01:27:43to try new things and visit new places.
01:27:45You're active, charismatic,
01:27:47and fun to be around.
01:27:49If you clearly see a woman's face here,
01:27:51you prefer to stick to the plan
01:27:53and don't like surprises.
01:27:55You're a natural leader
01:27:57and great at delegating tasks to others.
01:27:59They respect you and follow your lead.
01:28:01What about this one?
01:28:07If it looks like a lifeless,
01:28:09forested area to you,
01:28:11you're more involved with sciences
01:28:13than at arts.
01:28:15You can fix any gadget
01:28:17or at least carefully follow
01:28:19the instructions to one of those.
01:28:21Your mind is a well-organized chamber.
01:28:23If you instantly saw animals here,
01:28:25you must be into arts and creativity.
01:28:27You don't even know manuals exist.
01:28:29You like to live in the moment
01:28:31and always listen to your heart.
01:28:33How many colors do you see here?
01:28:35If your answer is 3,
01:28:37you're not wrong.
01:28:39Do you think it's 17?
01:28:41This image went viral just recently.
01:28:43The explanation to this mystery
01:28:45is at least a century and a half old.
01:28:48It was discovered by an Austrian math
01:28:50and physics professor, Mach.
01:28:52He noticed you can easily distinguish
01:28:54between similar colors
01:28:56of slightly contrasting shades
01:28:58when they're close to each other.
01:29:00When you set them apart,
01:29:02the difference is barely noticeable.
01:29:04The professor thought it had something to do
01:29:06with the construction of the eyeball
01:29:08and the tissue the retina is made of.
01:29:09The band's effect
01:29:11was later named Mach bands
01:29:13in his honor.
01:29:15Years later,
01:29:17when they had better technology,
01:29:19scientists found the professor
01:29:21was basically right.
01:29:23Your retina is similar to a cinema screen.
01:29:25It captures light that's projected
01:29:27through the pupil.
01:29:29Receptors are all over that screen.
01:29:31Some of them are more active
01:29:33under bright light
01:29:35and send a whole lot of signals
01:29:37to the brain.
01:29:39Nerves are trying to solve this problem.
01:29:41They send stronger signals
01:29:43to make the difference more obvious
01:29:45at the border of different shades.
01:29:47Your brain then notices a clear boundary.
01:29:50This explains why you can see
01:29:52the difference between similar shades
01:29:54when they're next to each other.
01:29:56The transition between colors
01:29:58can look like a separate color.
01:30:00Some people can't see the difference
01:30:02between contrasting colors in the picture
01:30:04because of how their brains are built.
01:30:06The color rendering abilities,
01:30:07brightness, and contrast
01:30:09of your laptop or smartphone screen
01:30:11is another reason.
01:30:13Then there's also the amount of lighting
01:30:15in your house or office.
01:30:17Plus, you don't have the same optics
01:30:19in your eyes that screen light
01:30:21as anyone else.
01:30:23You also have a unique level
01:30:25of pigment density
01:30:27that affects how your eyes absorb light.
01:30:29You can even have more than regular
01:30:31three cone cell types
01:30:33and see more colors than others.
01:30:35And some people are more affected
01:30:37than others.
01:30:39That's why there's no correct answer
01:30:41to how many colors the image contains.
01:30:43Sometimes, uncertainty
01:30:45can make different people
01:30:47see one thing differently.
01:30:49The dress that was somehow
01:30:51gold and white, blue and black,
01:30:53blue and white, and blue and blue
01:30:55at the same time
01:30:57became a real sensation.
01:30:59The picture was taken on a cell phone
01:31:01in a really weird lighting
01:31:03and overexposed.
01:31:05You can't tell if it was taken
01:31:07by natural light.
01:31:09It's not clear if the light illuminates
01:31:11the dress from the front or the back.
01:31:13If it were backlit,
01:31:15there would have to be a shadow.
01:31:17Parts of the dress itself were in shadow.
01:31:19That shadow was reflecting
01:31:21off the dress itself,
01:31:23complicating things even more.
01:31:25Confused? Me too.
01:31:27When your brain doesn't have
01:31:29enough information,
01:31:31it fills in the gaps
01:31:33by making its own assumptions.
01:31:35It mostly makes them based
01:31:37on facts about lighting conditions
01:31:39and someone else's,
01:31:41a totally different one.
01:31:43People who thought it was in a shadow
01:31:45believed the dress was white and gold.
01:31:47Same with those who thought
01:31:49it was in natural light.
01:31:51Shadows and blue sky
01:31:53overrepresent blue light
01:31:55and make things seem yellowish.
01:31:57Oh, and the retailer of the dress
01:31:59officially confirmed it was
01:32:01black and blue,
01:32:03and that it was sold out
01:32:05in the first 30 minutes of business
01:32:07because it was sold out.
01:32:09The color of retro sneakers
01:32:11happened a few years later
01:32:13for the same reason.
01:32:15Are they teal and gray?
01:32:17Or maybe pink and white?
01:32:19You can't be sure with weird
01:32:21camera quality,
01:32:23flash, and funky lighting.
01:32:25When you zoom in on the picture,
01:32:27you can notice the hand
01:32:29is unnaturally bluish.
01:32:31So, depending on how sensitive
01:32:33your eyes are to light
01:32:35and how your brain fills
01:32:37in the light.
01:32:39Do these strawberries look red to you?
01:32:41In fact, they're gray and green.
01:32:43The picture has been drained
01:32:45of any red.
01:32:47Your brain still makes you see it
01:32:49because of something known as
01:32:51color constancy.
01:32:53Your brain can sometimes ignore
01:32:55information from the color
01:32:57of the light.
01:32:59It knows what strawberries are,
01:33:01and it also knows they're
01:33:03supposed to be red,
01:33:05so it helps you see them as such.
01:33:07People on the Internet thought
01:33:09they were pits, not hills.
01:33:11Only when they flipped the pic
01:33:13over, people could see dunes
01:33:15in the indefinite pattern.
01:33:17Turns out your brain thought
01:33:19the sun was in the 1 o'clock
01:33:21position. It means it's supposed
01:33:23to be casting shadows from
01:33:25the upper right. In reality,
01:33:27it was casting shadows
01:33:29from the upper left.
01:33:31So, turning it upside down
01:33:33makes things more usual
01:33:35to your brain.
01:33:37You can't see them all at once.
01:33:39All the dots are perfectly visible,
01:33:41but you can see each of them
01:33:43only when you look directly at it.
01:33:45Your peripheral vision
01:33:47isn't that perfect.
01:33:49Your brain has to fill in the blanks.
01:33:51The white between gray lines
01:33:53makes it think the dots
01:33:55are lighter than they are,
01:33:57so it decides to pretend
01:33:59there's just grayer
01:34:01and the dots aren't there.
01:34:03Although one of them looks
01:34:05twice the size of the other,
01:34:07invented by an American
01:34:09ophthalmologist in the 1940s.
01:34:11You'd have to look into
01:34:13a pinhole at a room that
01:34:15seems to be a regular square
01:34:17but is a trapezoid.
01:34:19The walls and ceilings
01:34:21are tilted, and this makes
01:34:23your eyes see one person
01:34:25tower over another even
01:34:27when they move around.
01:34:29If you have a toy train track
01:34:31at home, you can see
01:34:33how the next illusion
01:34:35works in reality.
01:34:37Here's another one.
01:34:39That's because your brain
01:34:41compares the two sides
01:34:43of the pieces that are
01:34:45next to each other.
01:34:47It compares the right side
01:34:49of the track that's on the left
01:34:51to the left side of the track
01:34:53that's on the right.
01:34:55When you compare squares A
01:34:57and B in the checker
01:34:59shadow illusion,
01:35:01you can tell square A
01:35:03is much darker than square B.
01:35:05Your brain expects the
01:35:07pieces are of the same color.
01:35:09You can compare them
01:35:11with a color selector
01:35:13in any photo editing program.
01:35:15In the Ebbinghaus illusion,
01:35:17the two circles in the middle
01:35:19of their circle sets
01:35:21are of the same size.
01:35:23Turns out the way you
01:35:25perceive the size of things
01:35:27is all about context.
01:35:29The circle surrounded
01:35:31by larger ones seems smaller,
01:35:33and the one in the company
01:35:35of smaller circles
01:35:37is there at the cross
01:35:39in the middle of the dot ring.
01:35:41As one lilac dot disappears
01:35:43for a moment,
01:35:45a green dot takes its place.
01:35:47It also gradually wipes away
01:35:49other lilac dots one by one
01:35:51as it moves around the circle.
01:35:53This is the after-image effect
01:35:55in action.
01:35:57The rods and cones adjust
01:35:59to the constant disappearance
01:36:01of lilac dots.
01:36:03They replace it with a color
01:36:05from the opposite end
01:36:07of most common types
01:36:09of optical illusions.
01:36:11To create one,
01:36:13you have to build a pattern
01:36:15of high-contrast colors.
01:36:17They activate neural signals
01:36:19at the same time.
01:36:21This is how the fake motion
01:36:23effect appears.
01:36:25Café wall illusion
01:36:27was first described
01:36:29in the late 19th century.
01:36:31The tile pattern of a café wall
01:36:33had straight parallel lines
01:36:35and grout in between them.
01:36:37These lines react to dark
01:36:39and light colors.
01:36:41Some parts of the grout lines
01:36:43seem brighter than others.
01:36:45Where there's contrast,
01:36:47there appears to be asymmetry.
01:36:49Right now,
01:36:51you're going to test
01:36:53your observation skills.
01:36:55This test has four levels,
01:36:57and each one's trickier
01:36:59than the last.
01:37:01Find a pen and a piece of paper
01:37:03to write down your score.
01:37:05For each correct answer,
01:37:07write 3 for the third
01:37:09and 4 for the last one.
01:37:11The results will be
01:37:13at the end of the video.
01:37:15Level 1
01:37:171. So,
01:37:19how many legs can you see
01:37:21in this picture?
01:37:23Right. There are 12 legs,
01:37:256 wearing dress shoes,
01:37:27and 6 with high heels.
01:37:292. There's an animal
01:37:31in this picture
01:37:33that's trying really hard
01:37:35to blend in.
01:37:37It's a piglet,
01:37:39but its nose gives it away.
01:37:413. Can you find
01:37:43three animals hidden
01:37:45in this picture?
01:37:47Right. Three ducks are
01:37:49hiding among the tree branches.
01:37:514. What's wrong
01:37:53with this image?
01:37:55Two moons? Really?
01:37:575. Can you spot
01:37:59anything strange
01:38:01in this picture?
01:38:03A snake is pretending
01:38:05to be a giraffe here.
01:38:07It's just another
01:38:09regular day at the supermarket.
01:38:11Or is it?
01:38:13It would be
01:38:15if the lady on the left
01:38:17wasn't wearing skis.
01:38:197. How about this image?
01:38:21Is everything correct here?
01:38:23Not really.
01:38:25There's something wrong
01:38:27with the exit sign.
01:38:298. Why is this laundry trip
01:38:31going to end badly?
01:38:33Because who on earth
01:38:35washes white shirts
01:38:37every day?
01:38:399. This picture
01:38:41looks weird,
01:38:43but why?
01:38:45The mouse is chasing
01:38:47the cat,
01:38:49not the other way around.
01:38:5110. Can you spot
01:38:53the odd image?
01:38:55Yep, it's the sprinkled
01:38:57donut in the corner.
01:38:59Well, that was easy.
01:39:01Okay, I'm up for
01:39:03some challenges now.
01:39:05Level 2.
01:39:07This one seems
01:39:09to be more pleased
01:39:11with life than the others.
01:39:1312. There are
01:39:15four mistakes in this picture.
01:39:17Try to find all of them.
01:39:19Well, let's see.
01:39:21A globe under the sink,
01:39:23a pair of shoes in the cupboard,
01:39:25a shirt instead of the curtains,
01:39:27and a table lamp
01:39:29instead of the faucet.
01:39:31This woman's life
01:39:33must be full of adventures.
01:39:3513. Can you see
01:39:37a deer?
01:39:39It can be a girl

01:39:45a deer?
01:39:47A real master of
01:39:49camouflage.
01:39:5115. Can you find
01:39:53three animals here?
01:39:55I've only got one question.
01:39:57What are rabbits
01:39:59doing up there?
01:40:0116. There are
01:40:03three things wrong
01:40:05in this picture.
01:40:07There's no red light
01:40:09and no rails for the tram.
01:40:11And December 32nd?
01:40:13Seriously?
01:40:15You really want 2020
01:40:17to last that much longer?
01:40:1917. Which girl
01:40:21looks different?
01:40:23The one in the right
01:40:25bottom corner
01:40:27because it's a boy.
01:40:2918. Which magician
01:40:31is different from the rest?

01:40:37from the crowd.
01:40:3919. Something is missing
01:40:41in this picture,
01:40:43but what exactly?
01:40:45The sun is bright,
01:40:47but then,
01:40:49where are the camel's
01:40:51shadows?
01:40:5320. Which emoji
01:40:55is different?
01:40:57Yep, the non-winking
01:40:59one.
01:41:01Okay, not so bad.
01:41:03What's next?
01:41:05Surprise me!
01:41:0721. How many animals
01:41:09can you see in this picture?
01:41:11There are nine cubes.
01:41:1322. Can you spot
01:41:15the odd one?
01:41:17Yeah, it looks a bit
01:41:19shorter than the rest.
01:41:2123. Can you figure out
01:41:23which string is tied
01:41:25to the banana?
01:41:27I'd bet on the first one,

01:41:31number three.
01:41:3324. How many animals
01:41:35can you see in this picture?
01:41:37Three foxes.
01:41:3925. Something's wrong
01:41:41with this picture,
01:41:43but what?
01:41:45The pitcher is empty.
01:41:47Where's the milk coming from?
01:41:5026. Can you read
01:41:52what's written here?
01:41:55It's a mystery!
01:41:57Um, no, no, you don't get it.
01:41:59The word is mystery.
01:42:0227. Which unicorn
01:42:04is different?
01:42:06This one.
01:42:08Because it's a horse,
01:42:10not a unicorn.
01:42:1228. What's wrong
01:42:14in this picture?
01:42:16The fish doesn't have fins.
01:42:1929. What's hidden here?
01:42:21A tiny hint.
01:42:23It's alive.
01:42:25Right. It's a giant panda.
01:42:2930. What can you see
01:42:31in this image?
01:42:33It's either a face
01:42:35or a penguin.
01:42:37Wow.
01:42:39To tell you the truth,
01:42:41that level made me sweat.
01:42:43Level 4.
01:42:4531. Can you find
01:42:47a snake in this picture?
01:42:49Duh. Looks like a tree root
01:42:51to me.
01:42:5332. What can you see
01:42:55in this image?
01:42:57There are two trees

01:43:0133. Can you find
01:43:03the farmer's wife?
01:43:05She's somewhere nearby.
01:43:07Who would have guessed
01:43:09you could turn the image
01:43:11upside down?
01:43:1334. The children are sure
01:43:15the astronomer is still
01:43:17in the room.
01:43:19But where can he be hiding?
01:43:21He really didn't want
01:43:23to be found.
01:43:2535. These geese
01:43:27are in danger.
01:43:29A predator is hiding
01:43:31somewhere in the picture.
01:43:33Wow. Almost missed it.
01:43:3536. What's hidden
01:43:37in this picture?
01:43:39It's a big, toothy,

01:43:46can you see in this picture?
01:43:49It can be a beggar
01:43:51or it can be a face,
01:43:53depending on your perspective.
01:43:5538. This image
01:43:57is quite obvious.
01:43:59Or is it?
01:44:01Try turning it upside down.
01:44:03Then the rabbit
01:44:05turns into a man
01:44:07with a long mustache.
01:44:0939. And what can you
01:44:11see in this picture?
01:44:13It might be a happy dog
01:44:15or an equally cheerful cat.
01:44:1840. And finally,
01:44:20can you read this?
01:44:22You don't say.
01:44:24Bad eyes?
01:44:26OK. This level
01:44:28was actually mind-boggling.
01:44:30But I'm looking forward
01:44:32to learning my results.
01:44:33If your score is 0-25 points,
01:44:35work more on your
01:44:37observation skills
01:44:39and you'll get better.
01:44:41If you've got 26-50 points,
01:44:43you have a quick eye.
01:44:45With more practice,
01:44:47you'll soon become a pro.
01:44:49If you have 51-75 points,
01:44:51you're as attentive as Sherlock.
01:44:53You can spot the tiniest details
01:44:55without much effort.
01:44:57But if you've got 76-100 points,
01:44:59wow!
01:45:01I can't but feel
01:45:03nothing can escape
01:45:05your eagle eye.
01:45:07It's better not to mess with you.
01:45:09You know, scientists claim
01:45:11that the way your brain perceives
01:45:13and analyzes information
01:45:15can reveal a lot
01:45:17about your personality.
01:45:19Look at each of these optical illusions
01:45:21for a couple of seconds.
01:45:23What you see first
01:45:25can say a lot about who you are.
01:45:271. If the first thing you saw
01:45:29was a tree,
01:45:31you tend to pay too much attention
01:45:33but you're great at feeling
01:45:35the mood of other people.
01:45:37It makes you a tactful
01:45:39and empathetic person.
01:45:41And if you spotted a couple
01:45:43facing each other,
01:45:45you're logical, calm, and rational.
01:45:47You know how to reason with people
01:45:49even when they're upset or nervous.
01:45:512. If you saw a car in this picture,
01:45:53you treasure your freedom.
01:45:55You like it when things
01:45:57go according to your plan.
01:45:59That's why it's often hard
01:46:01for you to make fast decisions.
01:46:03When you're holding binoculars,
01:46:05you don't usually pay too much
01:46:07attention to details.
01:46:09Instead, you focus on the big picture.
01:46:11But maybe you notice
01:46:13the letter A first.
01:46:15Then you have a rare ability
01:46:17to spot things other people miss.
01:46:19You're extremely intuitive
01:46:21and can think outside the box.
01:46:233. If the first thing you see
01:46:27in the picture is two thumbs,
01:46:29you're a great leader
01:46:31and an excellent organizer.
01:46:33You take responsibility,
01:46:35and you understand what consequences
01:46:37your actions will have.
01:46:39And if you spotted an eruption,
01:46:41you have an altruistic personality.
01:46:44You're interested in people
01:46:46and want to help them.
01:46:484. If it's a monkey you notice first,
01:46:51that's my picture.
01:46:53No, actually,
01:46:55you're an independent person.
01:46:57It's crucial for you
01:46:59to have some personal space.
01:47:01If you saw a tiger,
01:47:03you believe nothing is impossible
01:47:05if you try hard enough.
01:47:075. If the first thing you saw
01:47:10was several trees in front of a sunset,
01:47:12you're very perceptive
01:47:14and easy-going.
01:47:16If you spotted a feline's face,
01:47:18you're a determined person.
01:47:20You always stick to the decisions you make
01:47:22and move towards your goal
01:47:24no matter what.
01:47:266. If the first thing you noticed
01:47:28in this image was an outline
01:47:30of a face,
01:47:31you're likely to be an introvert.
01:47:33You don't like noisy parties.
01:47:35They make you feel worn out,
01:47:37both physically and emotionally.
01:47:39If you saw a saxophonist,
01:47:41you're more extroverted.
01:47:43You love socializing,
01:47:45and people fall all over themselves
01:47:47to make friends with you.
01:47:49But remember to rest
01:47:51and not to burn out.
01:47:537. If you only saw some nature
01:47:55in this image,
01:47:57your life is full of different events
01:47:59at the moment.
01:48:01You like choosing to mix up
01:48:03your activities.
01:48:05This way you'll never do the same stuff
01:48:07several days in a row.
01:48:09If you noticed a face hidden
01:48:11in this image,
01:48:13it's facing the bottom of the frame.
01:48:15You're an organized person.
01:48:17You find it hard to live without a plan.
01:48:19It makes you feel unsafe.
01:48:218. If you saw zebras more clearly,
01:48:23you love talking
01:48:25and enjoy being surrounded by people.
01:48:27Making new acquaintances
01:48:29is your hobby.
01:48:31You like exploring routines.
01:48:33If it was a lion
01:48:35that stood out in the image,
01:48:37you prefer a calmer lifestyle.
01:48:39You'd rather spend some quality time
01:48:41with your few trusted friends
01:48:43and your family.
01:48:45Having too many people around
01:48:47drains your energy,
01:48:49which makes you avoid crowded places.
01:48:519. If you saw a face in this image,
01:48:53you're approachable and laid back.
01:48:55People feel that you care.
01:48:57That's why they often unload
01:48:59their problems on you.
01:49:01Maybe the first thing you paid attention to
01:49:03was someone waving a magic wand
01:49:05at a kneeling figure.
01:49:07Then you're an ambitious person.
01:49:09Whatever you do,
01:49:11you gotta do it better than others.
01:49:1310. If it was a cat
01:49:15that stood out in the image,

01:49:33And your intuition
01:49:35helps you find opportunities
01:49:37literally everywhere.
01:49:39If the first thing that jumped out at you

01:50:21You're also attentive
01:50:23to what's happening
01:50:25in the world around you.

01:51:33curious and adventurous,
01:51:35you're ready to change
01:51:37your surroundings
01:51:39at the drop of a hat.

01:54:15at first was a duck,
01:54:17your talents are more
01:54:19on the creative side of things.
01:54:2123. Most people spot a frog

01:54:53as a whole.
01:54:55Only after figuring out
01:54:57the big picture,
01:54:59first, you have the ability
01:55:01to concentrate on details.
01:55:03It's extremely important
01:55:05for you to surround yourself
01:55:07with positive people
01:55:09and get their support.
01:55:11Hey, how about we create
01:55:13your psychological portrait
01:55:15using optical illusions?
01:55:17You game?
01:55:19The rules are simple.
01:55:21Just remember the first thing
01:55:23you saw in the picture.
01:55:25Now, if you see a horse
01:55:27in this picture,
01:55:29you're very confident
01:55:31and reliable.
01:55:33But if the first thing you saw here
01:55:35is the horse's head,
01:55:37it may mean you're critical
01:55:39of everything,
01:55:41and the opinion of others
01:55:43can't throw you off the path.
01:55:45The next illusion.
01:55:47Those who saw a crocodile here
01:55:49love a quiet life
01:55:51and don't like to open up
01:55:53to something new.
01:55:55But if you saw a boat,
01:55:57you're more creative
01:55:59and have an analytical mind
01:56:01and use their left brain more.
01:56:03If you see an old man,
01:56:05you're likely to be
01:56:07a very gentle and sensitive person
01:56:09who can be very empathetic
01:56:11to other people.
01:56:13You're more creative
01:56:15and you use the right side
01:56:17of your brain.
01:56:19The white pillars in the picture
01:56:21mean you like comfort and safety.
01:56:23But you should leave
01:56:25the comfort zone
01:56:27to gain more experience
01:56:29as a person who doesn't sit in place
01:56:31and is ready to move constantly.
01:56:34Are these flowers
01:56:36or a woman's face?
01:56:38If it's flowers for you,
01:56:40then you appreciate the world you live in
01:56:42and just love nature.
01:56:44And if the first thing to draw your eye
01:56:46was a woman's face,
01:56:48then you have a great ability
01:56:50to highlight details
01:56:52from the environment
01:56:54that will help you
01:56:56to make the right decision.
01:56:57And remember,

01:57:15and you're constantly thinking
01:57:17about other people.
01:57:19But you also get influenced easily,
01:57:21so try to surround yourself
01:57:23only with good people.
01:57:25But if you see a candlestick here,
01:57:27it's more about yourself
01:57:29than about other people,
01:57:31and you like to sit at home
01:57:33rather than having noisy parties
01:57:35with a bunch of people.
01:57:37Ooh, this one is scary.
01:57:39If you see a skull here,
01:57:41it means it's hard for you
01:57:43to make decisions and move forward.
01:57:45But you need to find the courage
01:57:47and overcome the circumstances.
01:57:49It's the only way for you
01:57:51to become stronger.
01:57:53And if you see a woman,
01:57:55you're probably feeling
01:57:57like you're going through
01:57:59a difficult period in your life.
01:58:01In any case,
01:58:03stay on the bright side!
01:58:05If you see trees here,
01:58:07you must be an ambitious person
01:58:09who loves to bring everything
01:58:11to perfection.
01:58:13If you saw the roots
01:58:15at the first moment,
01:58:17it means you're a progressive
01:58:19person who strives for improvement.
01:58:21If the whole picture
01:58:23looks like dark lips to you,
01:58:25then you're a person
01:58:27who loves to paint.
01:58:29Is it a river and a cliff?
01:58:31Then you're an optimist
01:58:33who adapts easily
01:58:35to the changes in life.
01:58:37But if the first thing you see
01:58:39is a white cat,
01:58:41then you like stability,
01:58:43and you're in an emotional
01:58:45and mental balance.
01:58:47And you're a cat lover,
01:58:49of course.

01:59:01of something new and unknown.
01:59:03You may even be in conflict
01:59:05with yourself.
01:59:07But if you see a passionate kiss
01:59:09in the smoke,
01:59:11then you value relationships
01:59:13and family the most in life.
01:59:15This is the highest priority
01:59:17for you.

01:59:21If you saw them first,
01:59:23then you can easily solve problems.
01:59:25You see a picture from far away,
01:59:27but if for you
01:59:29this picture is a mountain landscape,
01:59:31then you are a more intuitive person.
01:59:33You're guided by your sixth sense
01:59:35when decision-making.
01:59:37Are you a realist?
01:59:39If you saw a big blue cat here,
01:59:41then yes,
01:59:43you don't have much fantasy,
01:59:45but you see the world as it is,
01:59:47and it helps you make plans
01:59:49on how to conquer it.
01:59:51If a little mouse hits your eyes first,
01:59:53you can see the positive
01:59:55even in the worst-case scenario.
01:59:57You're always half-full.
01:59:59The next illusion.
02:00:01If you see a girl at the window,
02:00:03then be careful.
02:00:05This may suggest that you expect
02:00:07something unpleasant to happen,
02:00:09and you're also probably
02:00:11an impulsive person.
02:00:13If you see a skull here,
02:00:15then you're pessimistic.
02:00:17Your friends may call you a cynic,
02:00:19but you consider yourself a realist.
02:00:21Creativity against analytics?
02:00:23What do you see?
02:00:25If the red saxophonist
02:00:27is a bird,
02:00:29then you are a person
02:00:31who likes to systematize
02:00:33and analyze information.
02:00:35You must be good at math
02:00:37and foreign languages.
02:00:39And if you see a portrait
02:00:41of a woman here,
02:00:43then you're an emotional
02:00:45and creative person.
02:00:47Is it a bird?
02:00:49Then you're a daydreamer,
02:00:51though a little absent-minded.
02:00:53But you strive to make
02:00:55the world a better place
02:00:57and come out the winner
02:00:59of any fight.
02:01:01And here we have...
02:01:03Crocodiles?
02:01:05Then maybe you like to be in charge
02:01:07and manage your life.
02:01:09Orders from other people
02:01:11make you suffer
02:01:13because you're a natural leader.
02:01:15If you see a bird in the middle,
02:01:17you're ready to help others.
02:01:19You're reliable and friendly.
02:01:21Ok, if the first thing you see here
02:01:23is a car,
02:01:25then you're a person
02:01:27who likes to meet new people
02:01:29and see new places.
02:01:31If you saw a person with binoculars,
02:01:33it means you have an analytical
02:01:35type of thinking
02:01:37and you like to look at things
02:01:39from afar,
02:01:41often missing small details.
02:01:43And although you can absorb
02:01:45a lot of visual information,
02:01:47you should focus on the smaller things too.
02:01:49If you saw the letter A,
02:01:51then congratulations!
02:01:53You have a very sharp vision,
02:01:55just like an eagle.
02:01:57You're self-sufficient.

02:02:01If you're a girl
02:02:03and you've seen a man's face here,
02:02:05then either you're looking for a partner
02:02:07or your current partner
02:02:09is a priority in your life
02:02:11and you feel a strong
02:02:13emotional connection with him.
02:02:15But if you see a woman's face,
02:02:17then you feel comfortable
02:02:19and self-sufficient.
02:02:21Guys who saw a man's face
02:02:23are concerned about relationships
02:02:25with other men,
02:02:27so if you see a female face,
02:02:29you're looking for your love.
02:02:31But take your time,
02:02:33or else you may push too hard.
02:02:37This is a test for Super Sherlock.
02:02:39Of course, it's two squirrels, right?
02:02:42Well, that means you're pretty lazy
02:02:44and you don't get too much into details.
02:02:46Now tilt your head a little to the left.
02:02:49Now you can see a woman's face.
02:02:52But if that's what you saw
02:02:54from the beginning,
02:02:55then you're an incredibly attentive person
02:02:57who can get along well with other people.
02:03:00And now we will determine
02:03:02your psychological age.
02:03:04If the first thing you saw
02:03:06was old people's faces,
02:03:08then you have already lived
02:03:10a long and colorful life.
02:03:12You definitely have something to remember.
02:03:14But if you see a young couple
02:03:16sitting next to each other,
02:03:18then you're young and all the fun
02:03:20is waiting for you.
02:03:22Now be ready to give a quick answer.
02:03:23Remember what you see first.
02:03:25Let's go!
02:03:27If you notice a smiling face,
02:03:29you're an optimist.
02:03:31If it's the open book,
02:03:33you're smart and have
02:03:35a well-developed intuition.
02:03:37If it was roses,
02:03:39you're calm and kind.

02:03:47and good imagination.
02:03:49If the first thing you saw

02:03:55And if at first you notice the tie,
02:03:57you're determined and diligent.
02:03:59Oh, and if you saw
02:04:01the ice cream cone,
02:04:03then it's time for an eye exam
02:04:05because there wasn't one in the picture.
