00:27Originally the 4th Space Marine Legion, the Iron Warriors fell into ruinous powers during the Horus Heresy ten millennia ago.
00:33Fighting an endless war against the Imperium, they were renowned and feared as specialists in attrition to siege warfare.
00:38They advanced like grinding war machine, metal and munitions marching forward beneath the icon of the Iron Skull.
00:44One that strikes fear into the most stalwart defenders, much like the Marines.
00:48You've got to keep moving forward.
00:49And we're going to move forward with this review by grabbing the tape measure of course to see how tall the Warhammer 40,000 Gold Label Collection
00:55Chaos Space Marines Iron Warrior stands.
00:58While I'm doing this as well, I'd like to thank the folks over at McFarlane Toys that were kind enough to provide the figure we're about to have a look at.
01:03The Iron Warrior though is going to stand 7 inches in height.
01:06Or the Chaos Space Marine is 17 and a half centimeters tall.
01:10Now you have a couple of Warhammer 40,000 figures I can bring in for comparisons.
01:14All of which by the way we have looked at on the channel if you need to play a little bit of catch up.
01:18Here's what the figure first of all looks like with the Blood Angels Reaver Sergeant.
01:21Comparing him then with a pretty big boy.
01:23Here's what the figure looks like with the Ultramarines Terminator.
01:25A figure that though resembles very similar to the Iron Warrior.
01:29Here's what the figure looks like with the World Eaters Corn Berserker.
01:31And of course here's what the figure also looks like with the Space Wolves Wolf Guard.
01:35As is always the case when we look at 40,000 figure releases from McFarlane's team.
01:39Things you'll expect to see with these figures are always quite a lot of weapons.
01:42Which I've just got them kind of grouped off to the side here.
01:45Of course you get yourself as well a backpack that's going to plug onto the back of the figure's body.
01:48But you get also as well a trading card and display stand.
01:51Looking though first at the card it's kind of really hard to make out what's exactly going on here.
01:55They've taken the idea of what you'll see in a second on his shoulder of alternating yellow and black.
02:00Unfortunately though it kind of just masks what exactly is going on in the front of the card.
02:04If you look at it you kind of see that there's some scene going on here.
02:08But then they unfortunately just cover it over with the black.
02:10So it's kind of really hard to make things out.
02:12It's a little easier though to make out exactly what's going on for the read up.
02:15The Iron Warrior if you wanted to pause and read for yourself.
02:18About two paragraphs worth.
02:20I've also already beaten you to it. I read it at the beginning of this review.
02:23I'll be putting this along with the recently looked at Chaos Space Marines Iron Warrior.
02:27In fact I actually have a whole dedicated sheet inside my binder for all my Warhammer 40,000 figures.
02:33I think we've again looked at what five, six?
02:35So I'm still kind of still keeping it onto one sheet.
02:38When it goes after that I'm going to have to probably go to a second sheet.
02:41Because I don't know how you guys like to display all your cards inside of trading card sheets.
02:45Do you like to put them front to back?
02:47So essentially you'd have like one card on one side and then of course the card would be on the other side.
02:50Or do you like to have it in such a way when you flip it over you can read up all the other statistics.
02:55Usually I'll always have to unfortunately keep all my extra cards inside of boxes.
02:58Because I never like to double things up.
03:00I always like to get the chance to be able to see what exactly is going on the back of the cards.
03:03Especially if it's a read up.
03:04It's going to take the time to put a read up on the back.
03:06I'm going to take the time as well to have them with their own dedicated slots.
03:10That's enough of that.
03:12Figure of course yes comes included with the trading card or display stand.
03:15We already looked at the trading card.
03:16Display stand is all again a circular black display stand with of course the peg off to the far corner.
03:21When you get a big bulky figure like this it's always really good to have these on the ready.
03:24Of course when it comes to displaying these on the shelf.
03:26I have all my figures so far with the five or six or so all displayed with their display stands.
03:31And again I love the fact that at least with these you get a Warhammer printing down below.
03:36That the team of course at Todd's McFarland teams decide to of course print that down below.
03:41So again even though they are using still the same display stand.
03:44When you're at least displaying them on the shelf.
03:46It's nice to at least know what line they're coming from.
03:49Without to the side.
03:51As already mentioned the figure comes included with a backpack.
03:54I love all the things that come included first of all with the Iron Warrior.
03:57There is certainly like a like an over-the-top design for all of these.
04:01And kind of things we get a chance to kind of start things off here with the backpack.
04:05The backpack for all intents and purposes.
04:07I mean if you were just looking at that.
04:09It would be really no different than oh I don't know like for example the Khorne Berserker.
04:12I just happen to have one right here.
04:14I mean if you're looking at the two they're very similar.
04:16These also I think serve as jet packs.
04:18But the one thing that's different really.
04:21And one thing you'll kind of see when we look at a lot of the features here for the figure.
04:25Is that they take a lot of cues here from like the the World Eaters for example.
04:29But like if you're looking at the backpacks.
04:31I mean this part right here looks very similar to this part right here.
04:35The thing that they've done differently though is with the Chaos Space Marines.
04:38Look at these cool looking skulls that they've got on the ends here.
04:41Painted nicely here as well in gold.
04:43The gold motif is something you'll see commonly when we look at the rest of the suit of the figure.
04:47It also plugs in the exact same way as the World Eaters.
04:50And really for that matter all the other Warhammer 40,000 figures.
04:53All essentially plug the backpacks on the exact same way.
04:55So you see there's like a rectangular peg right here.
04:58If you look at the back of the figure though.
04:59Yeah you're going to have a slot on the back.
05:01Kind of looks like you can slide down bread to toast it.
05:04But you're just going to take this.
05:05It's one of the easier backpacks honestly to fit in place.
05:08Generally I always seem to have to struggle to really put a lot of pressure on these.
05:11To get them attached and lodged onto the torso.
05:14Didn't have to work at all when it came to the Space Marine.
05:16It plugged actually in pretty good in place.
05:18The figure also comes in clear with quite a lot of weapons.
05:21I guess maybe the first thing we'll have a look at is his blade.
05:24This blade looks mean.
05:26Like it's going to do some business.
05:28I love the way it's hooked on the end.
05:30Can you just imagine that that would impale into armor and just leave a big mark behind.
05:34Of course he can't fit this into either one of his hands.
05:36It still is obviously the struggle with these harder plastic hands.
05:39It's always a tough time to try to get them inside their grips.
05:42At least though for the sword there's one other place where you can store the blade.
05:46If you look at the front of it actually he's got himself not necessarily a dedicated sheath.
05:50But he has like a little loop right here.
05:52You see that?
05:53If I get my finger out of the way.
05:54Okay. Right there. Right there.
05:56Just take the blade and it slides right in.
05:59It's a hard thing to kind of get it around this hook.
06:01But once you get it around the hook it's smooth sailing.
06:04And it just basically just droops onto the side.
06:07Basically he would just retrieve it.
06:08It's just as hard as pulling this out.
06:10Because obviously you're going to have to get this around the little hook.
06:12So you just have to kind of tilt it almost even on an angle.
06:16But the blade is honestly not the easiest thing at all to retrieve.
06:19If it wasn't for just the thing I finished saying that I like so much about the blade.
06:23If it wasn't for that little hook piece it would be a whole lot easier to remove the blade.
06:27Let's just get it around this.
06:29The reason why by the way I'm removing this is just because I know when I'm moving the figure around.
06:32I mean I could probably already tell you.
06:34If you start to move the things like the torso around.
06:36We looked at the articulation for a second.
06:38And that's going to be down the road obviously in this review.
06:40I'm just going to only have to worry about a handle of this blade being in the way.
06:44So let's just.
06:46I assure you I had a lot easier of a time removing this earlier.
06:49But of course the moment I hit record.
06:51Let's get that around there.
06:53At least it's if anything it's softer plastic.
06:55But again like it's just.
06:57It's a hard thing as you probably can already see.
06:59To get the blade back out of it.
07:01If they had only just made it a little bit bigger.
07:03That's all it really needed.
07:05Because it's ultimately though.
07:06I mean when you're.
07:07This is by the way pretty soft and plastic.
07:09To try to pull this out.
07:10What I usually end up just doing is.
07:12I end up.
07:13Like I end up pulling down the blade.
07:15Well if.
07:16Why am I again.
07:17You know what.
07:18Can I pull.
07:19No I can't pull it down the other way.
07:20Bear with me again.
07:21Like I only just really want to remove this.
07:22So we can move forward with the rest of this review.
07:24But again like it seems to be.
07:26I'm all thumbs this time around.
07:28When all else fails.
07:29Sometimes you just need to pause the camera.
07:31Anyways we've removed the blade.
07:32Let's just put down the figure for right now.
07:34And look at the remaining accessories.
07:35The figure comes in clear with a bolt pistol.
07:37One thing I really like about these.
07:39Is that when we.
07:40Just want to bring out the other figures accessory.
07:42I just happen to have Reaver Sargent's accessories right here.
07:44See though how it's pretty clean of a finish here for the silver.
07:47One thing I really though like about the Chaos Space Marines guns.
07:50Is the fact that they all kind of look more aged.
07:52There's definitely a lot more.
07:54Not I would say rusted look to it.
07:56But there's definitely a darker approach for the gray.
07:58And I think it works a lot better.
07:59You know kind of again looking at these.
08:01I kind of wish that just across the board.
08:02All the other Warhammer 40,000 figures.
08:04Well kind of more approach their guns.
08:06Kind of a more darker color like this.
08:08But you get yourself the bolt pistol.
08:10Which again looks really nice.
08:11Just show you guys what that looks like.
08:13I don't want to point that towards anybody.
08:15You get also as well a mace.
08:17And again like everything really has a more futuristic look to it.
08:21I mean simply they could have just given a handle piece.
08:24And then a big balling thing on the end of it.
08:26That would just look like it would inflict damage.
08:28But they really again make it super super cool looking.
08:31I mean again it just kind of looks like a more futuristic looking thing.
08:34A nice little close combat melee weapon that he can hold in his hands.
08:37By the way though.
08:38While I did have a struggle to get the blade into the little holes.
08:41Or I guess more so to get that removed.
08:43None of the other accessories that we're looking at right now.
08:45Right now.
08:46Can store anywhere else on the figure's body.
08:48There's no other storage spots.
08:50The figure also comes in clue with this.
08:52Now I was trying to figure out what exactly this is.
08:54It is either an Umbra Ferox.
08:56Is it Ferox pattern bolt gun.
08:58That just happens to have the blade attachment on the end of it.
09:01Or is it a Phobos pattern combi melta with combat blade.
09:05Either way though.
09:06I mean it's a nice looking weapon.
09:07It's obviously a darker gray here.
09:09And then of course they've added the blade down below here.
09:11It kind of does certainly though.
09:12Resemble more like a flamethrower than it does a bolt gun.
09:15So I think it's actually more of Phobos.
09:17You can let me know down below in the comment section.
09:19Somebody's a little bit more versed in Warhammer 40,000.
09:21Than perhaps the person behind the camera.
09:23But it does overall look good.
09:24I mean it's probably my go-to weapon of choice.
09:26When it comes to displaying the figure.
09:27But again like the problems with all of these.
09:29The fact that the plastic for these hands is always really hard.
09:32Definitely would recommend if you're having a struggle to get these into his hands.
09:36Just heat the plastic on the hands first.
09:38Or you can do what I'm doing right now.
09:40I've already heated these.
09:41But all the time of actually talking about things.
09:43And trying to remove a blade from the front of his torso.
09:46The plastic has cooled.
09:48One thing at least I can say about the Chaos Space Marines.
09:50If you have been following the exploits of this guy.
09:52Trying to look at the Warhammer 40,000 figures.
09:54Is just again bring back in this figure for the example.
09:57The World Eaters and all the other figures seem to have loose shoulders.
10:00I've tried to go in there in fact.
10:02Try to tighten these up.
10:03I took a little bit of floor polish.
10:05I don't know if you guys can actually see it or not.
10:07I tried to go in there and tighten it up.
10:08I don't know if there's an easier way to tighten up joints.
10:10If there is you guys can let me know down below.
10:12At least the thing about the Chaos Space Marine.
10:14Is that he doesn't seem to have tight shoulders.
10:16Or it doesn't seem to have loose shoulders.
10:18I mean in fact if you have for example this gun.
10:20It looks like you can hold it pretty good.
10:22Normally by now the arm would just start to droop down.
10:25Not only does it have the bulk of the shoulder pads on the sides for his arms.
10:28But also with the weight of the plastic for the guns.
10:30They seem to wreak havoc on these poor shoulders of these figures.
10:33That a lot of times the arms just start to go like this.
10:36And actually both cases the arms seem pretty tight on these.
10:39Let's go ahead and just remove the gun for right now.
10:41We'll put it off to the side.
10:43And I guess we can kind of keep the backpack on.
10:45Do we want to remove it?
10:46No we'll keep it on.
10:47We'll keep it on.
10:48Getting though a closer look at the head sculpt here for the Chaos Space Marines.
10:51You know again I keep bringing back in the World Eaters as the example.
10:54Because it does have a very similar style of face mask.
10:57Instead of actually having the prongs on the top though.
10:59You can see that the Iron Warrior now has sort of curved front forward horns.
11:03That really adds an appeal to the character.
11:05I mean but overall like again looking at the bodies.
11:07They are very very similarly designed.
11:10Shoulder pads also too.
11:12I mean the only thing very much different here is this one.
11:14Does have again the alternate colors of the yellow and the black.
11:17But all this additional trimming of gold.
11:19Not to mention all these spikes that stick out the sides.
11:21It's a really cool looking armor.
11:23Something you'd almost even expect to see in Mad Max.
11:26Although if they're battling out in the desert.
11:27You would imagine this poor guy walking around though.
11:29Would be just exhausted by the heat alone.
11:31The head sculpt though again is really my favorite of so far.
11:34What we've looked at from Warhammer 40,000.
11:36Between the front of the face mask here.
11:38With a little breathing grill.
11:39Not to mention the horns that he has on the sides.
11:41It's just such a cool design on the character.
11:43You got a nice little skull there on the front.
11:45Everything really on this figure.
11:46And it may have also something to do with the fact.
11:48That this falls within the gold label collection parameters.
11:51That they maybe just went above and beyond the regular paint jobs.
11:54That these 40,000 figures normally would get.
11:57It just seems like they've gone a lot more into painting this figure.
12:00Than other figures have gotten in the past.
12:02So again you've got some nice little gold there on the front for the skull.
12:05You've got some nice spikes sticking out the sides for the shoulders.
12:08We've already looked at the fact.
12:09He's got these cool little skulls sticking on the sides of the backpack.
12:12But just there's a lot to kind of take in here.
12:15He's got some skull motifs.
12:16My favorite thing about the figure.
12:18Not only is of course the face.
12:19But also down below here.
12:20This one leg.
12:22The way they've guarded the front of his calf plate here.
12:25They've got this.
12:26Looks like an open skull mouth.
12:28Just looks super cool.
12:30Doesn't limit at all the articulation on the figure.
12:32But I feel like again.
12:33They just went all out when it came to painting this character.
12:35That maybe perhaps the other Warhammer 40,000 figures.
12:38Weren't given as much love.
12:40Maybe necessarily.
12:41But for the figure's articulation.
12:42Even though really he does pack a lot more paint.
12:45His articulation pretty much is going to be the exact same.
12:47As all the other 40,000 figures.
12:49So like for example.
12:50His head's going to be on a ball joint.
12:51Because he doesn't have anything really in the way of things.
12:54Like his shoulders.
12:55You can easily rotate the head all the way around.
12:57The head looks up.
12:58And it looks down.
12:59One thing I did kind of overlook.
13:01And I hope to fix things.
13:02When we got to the end of the review for the Reaver Sergeant.
13:04Is that the inside of the torso.
13:07So like see this little black piece right here.
13:09The head's going to basically be on a ball joint.
13:11That attaches onto that.
13:12But then that also has its own dedicated articulation.
13:15So I don't know if you guys can actually see.
13:17If I can get my fingers out of the way.
13:19There looks to be probably pegs on both sides of this circular plate.
13:22That then allows the head to go a little bit lower down.
13:25When it comes to its reach.
13:26It also goes a lot higher up too.
13:28Because it's also rocking back and forth on this circular bit of plastic.
13:31So it gives a little bit of additional articulation.
13:33And again like if you have a more like low look to the head sculpt.
13:37It kind of gets then lost behind the armor piece.
13:39I just really like that they included that additional piece of posability.
13:42For the arms.
13:43Now the arms are going to be a little bit more limited.
13:45Even though the shoulders really are on their own ball joints.
13:47But they're attached right here.
13:49Because they're so close in quarters.
13:51You can only really bring the arms out about 45 degrees.
13:54The arms at least can rotate all the way around.
13:56And that's even with the inclusion of the backpack on its torso.
13:59You can still fully rotate the arms.
14:01This one even rotates also all the way around.
14:03Even though it's a little bit larger of a backpack.
14:05Or larger of a shoulder pad.
14:07For the arms themselves.
14:08They do swivel back and forth.
14:10There's also a double hinge on the elbow.
14:11Which again like for the size of these characters.
14:13I'm really impressed that they still managed to pack a double hinge in the elbows.
14:16The hands also as well rotate all the way around.
14:19The upper torso is on a ball joint.
14:21It's a little on the stiff side for mine at least.
14:23But again I would much rather tight joints on these figures than overly loose.
14:26Upper torso ball joint.
14:28Further down from that the figure also has an abdomen ball joint.
14:31So that rotates there as well.
14:33The legs do split out.
14:34You can see that he's got also a skirting here on the front.
14:36That's pretty much a soft plastic that they've utilized here.
14:39But again that's not going to limit all the articulation.
14:42So the figure's legs split about that far.
14:44You can take him forward.
14:45You can move him back.
14:46There's a swivel at the top.
14:47More so for the assembly of the figure.
14:49There's a double hinge on the knees.
14:50And even when you hinge the knees.
14:52You can see.
14:53I love how this piece of the knee piece.
14:55The knee cap.
14:56Sticks up like this.
14:57Especially if you're going to have it in a pretty cool looking stance.
14:59The skull then stands out a lot more than it did before.
15:02Love that.
15:03Just love that.
15:04Such a cool looking design.
15:05And again when it comes to the ball joints.
15:07Now he's got it here as well for his ankles.
15:09They rock back and forth this way.
15:11They hinge up and down this way.
15:13And the figure also has toe articulation as well.
15:15Both sides.
15:16Once again you've got peg holes in the bottoms of the feet.
15:18I would always really recommend when it comes to displaying any of the Warhammer 40,000 figures.
15:22Just because of the size of these characters.
15:24It's always really good.
15:25Especially.
15:26I mean if you're always just going to have him displayed standing like this.
15:28You're probably not going to have a problem.
15:30I try to though jazz things up when you wrap up these reviews.
15:33That I either have him somewhat of a running pose.
15:35Or even a walking pose.
15:37Can't quite be pulled off.
15:38Unless you just happen to have one of these bad boys.
15:40Which again I always have.
15:41I always have these on the ready.
15:43Either whether I'm displaying or reviewing McFarlane toy figure reviews.
15:47Or even I just like to have extra McFarlane stands on the side.
15:50They always really come in handy.
15:51Even when I'm looking at other figure companies as well.
15:53Other figure companies that don't just happen to sell their figures with display stands.
15:58McFarlane is one of the few companies out there that still continue to pack display stands.
16:02With all of their figures.
16:03All of them across the board.
16:04And you've got to commend them for that.
16:06At the end of it though.
16:07Sliding over the Chaos Space Marines.
16:09Bringing back in though the World Eaters Corn Berserker.
16:12You know again.
16:13There's a lot of similarities going on really between the two designs armor.
16:16Obviously some substantial.
16:18Substantial tooling had to go into place.
16:20Changing from one to the other.
16:21I mean obviously it's not just a straight carbon copy.
16:24You can kind of though see that there are some similar mold elements.
16:27Like the arms for example are the same arms.
16:29Like for example that were on the Corn Berserker.
16:31The lower legs.
16:33Not the actual parts from the knees down.
16:35But like the thigh areas are exactly the same molds.
16:38And they probably have used again like a lot of the abdomen areas.
16:41But again like some substantial.
16:43Substantial retooling had to come into place.
16:45In order for the new Chaos Space Marines Iron Warrior to exist.
16:49And at the end of it.
16:50He's a nice looking figure.
16:51At the end of it.
16:52He actually might be my favorite of the Warhammer 40,000 figures we've looked at so far.
16:56Of the ones.
16:57Of the ones we certainly have looked at.
16:58They always have.
16:59I felt not delivered exactly in paint.
17:02And maybe it had something to do with the fact that the Iron Warrior was part of the gold label collection.
17:06That he just gets again granted some additional paint.
17:08The end result though is one of the best figures we've looked at so far.
17:11Coincidentally enough.
17:13We're just talking about display stands a moment ago.
17:15And I'm using the display stand that came included with the Chaos Space Marine.
17:18To wrap up the review for the Iron Warrior.
17:20The figure though could in theory be displayed without one.
17:23I mean the posability and the large size of his feet.
17:26Could accommodate the figure being posed without the use of a display stand.
17:30But the fact that McFarlane's team includes one.
17:32And you're dealing with a big bulky figure.
17:34Why not just use it anyways?
17:36The figure's pose can be pulled off with some decent surprising articulation.
17:40In fact all of the Warhammer 40,000 figures have impressed me with the amount of posability that they possess.
17:45The only limitations are obviously going to be in the shoulders.
17:48You're either having to contend with overly loose arms.
17:51Which luckily wasn't the case here with the Chaos Space Marine.
17:53Or you have to have the limitations of where the arms can't completely come out.
17:57Just because the shoulder pads are going to get in the way of things.
17:59I don't think most people are probably going to be displaying any of their figures with their arms doing jumping jacks.
18:03But if you did want to.
18:05You're not going to be able to do it as well here with the Iron Warrior.
18:07The figure is decently detailed.
18:09I mean that's kind of diminishing it.
18:11The figure is incredibly detailed from head to toe.
18:14And again it seems like a lot of the budget went into the paint.
18:17The sculpting is still good.
18:18And it's always really delivered well for these figures that we've looked at.
18:21But the paint specifically for the Iron Warrior is a little higher in his own class than all the 40,000 figures we've looked at so far.
18:28Of the ones that we have looked at by far, this one is my favorite.
18:31I'm looking forward to putting this one on the shelf with all the other Warhammer figures we've looked at so far.
