00:00We will now take an update on the La Castellana Negros Occidental from their mayor, Mayor Romila Nicor Mangilimutan. Mayor Maymay, good morning.
00:12Hello, good morning sir Arnon.
00:15Did all barangays of La Castellana get affected by the laharplo?
00:21No, only one barangay was affected.
00:25Were there any evacuees because of the eruption of Vulcan Canlaon, Mayor?
00:31Actually, on the first day of the eruption, we had evacuees.
00:36Then, we continued to rescue, especially those who were complaining because of the smell of sulfuric fumes emitted by Vulcan Canlaon.
00:47Then yesterday, I went to the laharp area where the barangay of Biak na Bato was affected.
00:58We command to have the forced evacuation, especially those sites where they might be trapped in case they don't leave their homes.
01:09How many evacuees have arrived?
01:13Our evacuees are around 1,113.
01:27Individual? Yes.
01:28Individual and then 277 families affected.
01:33The first one is 250 with 968 individuals.
01:38Then there are others. There are around 210 that have stayed in their homes.
01:44Their relatives are the ones who are close to them.
01:46The laharplo cannot reach them.
01:49So where were they evacuated? Evacuation center, Mayor?
01:54Yes, we have a contingency plan for Vulcan Canlaon eruption.
01:59We have intended evacuation centers for every barangay in case they explode.
02:09We also have an LGU evacuation center but we cannot cater big numbers of individuals if we have a large number of evacuees.
02:21So we have to do the MOA with the schools and our churches so they can stay in case they increase in numbers.
02:32How large is the area in La Castellana?
02:35Is it affected by houses, structures or even agriculture?
02:41Agriculture. Our farmers, especially in the upper barangay,
02:49but we cannot determine the data.
02:51It's because yesterday, our agriculturists and our staff went around to see
03:00because in the upper barangay, there are not many signals.
03:04So we cannot get enough data from the farmers and some of the farmers are not reachable.
03:12So the numbers or figures should be determined by us.
03:19We are now in the state of calamity.
03:23We are preparing for some support to our farmers which is really affected by Vulcan Canlaon eruption.
03:32Yes.
03:33Were any houses saved?
03:37No, Mayor.
03:39Almost all the six barangays, actually five.
03:44The strong ashfall and the tiny rocks that were raining.
03:53That is our problem because most of the vegetation up there was destroyed.
04:00Okay.
04:01Because the ashfall and debris of the rocks is hot.
04:09So maybe the bananas, sweet potatoes, eggplants, and almost all that our people planted,
04:20the small coffee plants that are replacements for the trees that were destroyed, were burned.
04:27Okay.
04:28Also, the reported landslides.
04:30The landslides on the part of Sagam.
04:34Is it still raining in La Castellana, Mayor?
04:38Actually, I'm here in the municipality.
04:42But it's gloomy in the surroundings and up there.
04:48It's just a small amount of rain, but it's not that strong.
04:53Is the smell of ash still there?
04:58Actually, last night when I came here, the ash fell down to here.
05:05But up there, people can still feel it because there are still smoke emissions,
05:12which we believe is sulfuric fumes from the eruption of Vulcan Canlaon.
05:19Okay.
05:20Thank you, La Castellana Mayor Romila Nicor Mangi Limutan and Kapuso Foundation.
05:26Expect continued assistance in your area.
05:29Take care.
05:31Thank you so much.
05:50Thank you.
