00:00 For the update on the latest news on the flood, we will now talk to the spokesperson of the Office of the Civil Defense, OCD, Director Edgar Posadas.
00:09 Good morning Director Posadas.
00:11 Good morning Ian and good morning to all of your viewers.
00:15 Okay. First, we reported that five people were found dead. What is the confirmation on this?
00:23 Yes, you're right. There are 20 people who are still alive. We are investigating them. But the first person who was found dead in Region 10 has been confirmed.
00:37 This is a 14-year-old female from the Tamiz Oriental. She was due to multiple physical injuries because she fell from a collapsed tree.
00:57 But we are still confirming five people. We are verifying them. Once confirmed, we will also report to you.
01:07 So all of them fell?
01:09 There are different causes. Some of the dead are attributed to different causes. There's drowning, there's also falling of a tree.
01:27 Most of them are related to drowning. It's either drowning or falling of a tree.
01:34 Okay. Did the injured rise in number Director?
01:37 Yes. We are also confirming the other one who is in Region 10. We are also confirming that seven people are attributed to this.
01:52 Are there any missing?
01:54 So far, Ian, that's what we are thankful for. We are not missing for now. I hope it stays that way. We have no report on any missing persons, Ian.
02:05 Director Posadas, what are the places where the flood was directly affected by the Aghon?
02:10 As of now, we are checking the data. In terms of... I have many parameters in terms of the affected population, we are still in the region five.
02:28 Okay. Will they declare a state of calamity Director?
02:33 Yesterday, we conducted a press briefing yesterday. As of when we presented that, the only place that declared, but we don't have a copy yet,
02:45 I will have to check, Lucena City. But the PDRMO of Quezon Province said yesterday that it's possible to declare the first and second districts of Quezon under the state of calamity.
03:02 But as of now, Lucena is the only confirmed. We are waiting for their copy of their declaration, Ian.
03:10 Yesterday, the PDRMO talked to the region. Three river systems were flooded. How are the floods now? Are they already flooding?
03:22 Yes. According to what we said yesterday, the floods are already flooding. They are starting the rapid assessment, Ian, to identify the needs and how we can help.
03:40 So far, their resources are okay. But just the same, our regional director yesterday in 4A, he went to Mauban, Weston.
03:51 They brought around 1,100 family packs to augment the resources of the local government.
04:02 Director how is the supply of electricity?
04:06 Okay. As for the supply of electricity, yesterday, they said they have power outages. But we will restore it slowly.
04:23 The preventive measures are to have wind and rain during that time. Hopefully, that's what we're focusing on, to restore the supply of electricity.
04:38 That's important. And not telecommunication.
04:41 The communication, cell sites, there's a problem.
04:45 There's no immediate solution but we will restore it.
04:51 You mentioned the assistance you're providing. What can our countrymen expect from that?
04:56 We are prepositioned, not only in Labarzon but in different regions. Actually, in the 17 regions of our province, we are prepositioned.
05:10 That's the good thing. Ever since the time of El Nino, we are prepositioned. Of course, these are just augmentations to the resources of the local government,
05:23 our friends in DSWD. Just recently, before the augmentation, the Secretary of the House visited Bacanes to turn over the family packs and generator sets.
05:43 Don't worry Director. Our countrymen, Kapuso Foundation is already alert. The first wave is already there. It's already the day and they will provide assistance to our countrymen.
05:55 Thank you very much. We will help our countrymen in a big way.
06:02 Director Edgar Posadas of our Office of Civil Defense. Good morning. Be careful.
06:07 Good morning. Long live.
