00:04 Pensioners who belong to the highest income quintile have a life expectancy of 67 years,
00:11 which is about 2.6 years higher than those who belong to the lowest income quintile.
00:17 This is what emerges from the 22nd annual IMF report presented to the House of Representatives
00:22 by the new Commissioner Michaela Gelera and the Minister of Labour Marina Calderone.
00:27 The report also highlights how the employment rate in Italy is currently 61%,
00:32 a historical maximum never reached before.
00:35 Women's contribution to post-pandemic recovery is relevant.
00:39 The 57.4% employment rate in April 2023 exceeds that pre-pandemic
00:45 and the same goes for the employment rate, now equal to 52.3%.
00:50 In April 2023, the Italian unemployment rate was equal to 7.8%.
00:56 These positive trends are clearly not enough to consider well-known structural problems,
01:03 such as the comparison with Europe, because the Italian employment rate is still clearly lower than the European average,
01:09 which was 69.5% in the third quarter of 2022, and 68% in France, 77% in Germany and 64% in Spain.
01:20 As for pensions, at the end of 2022, the extraordinary Commissioner of the IMF
01:25 Michaela Gelera said, the number of pensioners in Italy was 16.1 million,
01:30 a number slightly higher than that of 2021, of which 7.8 million men and 8.3 million women.
01:37 The total amount of income was equal to 322 billion euros.
01:42 Women, although they represent 52% of the pensioners, are only the owners of 44% of the total income.
01:50 96% of the pensioners receive an IMF pension with an average monthly income of 1,687 euros.
01:58 That of men is equal to 1,969 euros, resulting in 38% higher than that of women.
02:06 The remaining 4% of the pensioners are entitled to in-hail income or pensions managed by other entities.
02:12 Gelera also underlined how there was no big wave of layoffs post-pandemic, which characterized other countries.
02:19 Instead, there was more mobility in the workplace in order to seek better conditions from the workers.
02:26 Minister Calderone, in her speech, then underlined the importance of the IMF
02:30 and the need to take care of the Institute in order to preserve its functions,
02:35 as well as highlighting the speed of the instruments put into place by the Institute itself
02:39 to ensure that the subsidies reach the Roma citizens affected by the flood.
