The film relies more on emotions than action which may prove to be a dampener for many of his fans who have grown up watching their macho idol bashing up dozens of goons, bare-bodied, on screen in film after film.

00:00 Hello, welcome to Outlook. You are watching Matinee Idol with Girdhar Jha,
00:03 our weekly post-mortem of the latest Bollywood releases.
00:07 Today I will tell you why you should or should not watch Salman Khan's latest release Bharat.
00:19 A good news for Salman Khan fans first.
00:29 Bharat is not like Tube Light and Race 3.
00:32 It makes you cry, it makes you smile, it makes you laugh.
00:37 Still, the only problem this movie has that it tends to rely more on emotions than action,
00:44 which may let down some of Salman's hardcore fans who have grown up watching Salman bashing off
00:51 dozens of goons bare-bodied on the screen in film after film.
00:57 Why this film relies too much on emotions is because it is based on a 2014 South Korean movie
01:03 Ode to Father, which depicted the story of modern Korea through the eyes of a common man.
01:10 Bharat is a similar story about India, narrated through the different phases of life of its central protagonist,
01:19 played by Salman Khan.
01:20 It talks about rising unemployment, it talks about rising unemployment,
01:26 exodus of Indian youth to the Gulf for jobs, and all that.
01:31 In between, it talks about women smitten by Nehru, gives credit to Manmohan Singh for reforms,
01:38 takes note of the phenomenal popularity of Shah Rukh Khan and Sachin Tendulkar in the 90s,
01:44 and the advent of malls in place of small town shops.
01:49 Still, this is a story of a roller-coaster journey of a common man, played by Salman Khan,
01:56 who has to keep promise he had made to his father to look after his family after they separated during partition.
02:03 Acting-wise, Salman Khan is in fine fettle. He is ably supported by the rest of the star cast.
02:09 Katrina Kaif has got the best of her roles in any Salman Khan movie and she has not let down.
02:16 She has not disappointed.
02:17 But the surprise packet of this film is Sunil Grover.
02:21 Satish Kaushik in a cameo as a captain of a ship is hilarious too.
02:26 This is director Ali Abbas Jaffer's third movie with Salman Khan.
02:30 Both their previous movies, Tiger Zinda Hai and Sultan, have turned out to be mega blockbusters.
02:37 Both those movies earned more than Rs 300 crores on the domestic circuit.
02:42 This movie is not in the same league.
02:45 The movie runs at a brisk pace till interval. It's very entertaining.
02:50 But post interval, the narrative slows down because it depends too much on tear-jerking sequences.
02:57 I would like to give the movie 2.5 stars because the heart of the movie is in the right place.
