On March 17, Hindutva groups, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal allegedly burned an effigy of Aurangzeb in a green chadar Inscribed with holy quranic verses which is the holy cloth of the Muslim community which is usually offered in dargahs and post that riots like situation took place in three areas. Eyewitnesses claimed that those responsible for violence were not locals.
Shafiq Ahmad, one of the eyewitnesses said that they shouldn't burn the green cloth which did provoke the people. People did try to lodge an FIR but the police only lodged an FIR about Aurangzeb. The police weren't interested in writing an FIR regarding the burning of green kalma. This made people more aggressive.
The stone pelting was going on and the people burned the cars. The children and women were scared and the condition was very bad.
However, VHP and Bajrang Dal members have declined the allegation of burning any holy cloth and claimed that videos are doctored.
Thirteen FIRs have been registered and over 114 accused from the Muslim community have been arrested so far. Nine members from VHP and Bajrang Dal were also accused in the case but got bail on the same day.

00:00And I wanted to tell you that the rioters, the local people, were not rioters.
00:04How did the rioters come?
00:06And how did they come?
00:07They threw stones at people's houses, lit fires and ran away.
00:10All Muslims live here.
00:12Behind this, all Hindus live.
00:14So all of them were in a state of terror.
00:16Why is this happening in our area?
00:18The program that Bajrang Dhani did that day,
00:22he was just telling people that he didn't want to burn the bedsheets that he had made yesterday.
00:26That provoked people.
00:28That bedsheet was a piece of a saree that our workers had brought to tie the grass.
00:34And we had kept a picture of an Aurangzeb on it and lit it.
00:38We completely accept that.
00:40It is also in the video.
00:42But we have complete faith that he had an argument with the video.
00:48This is the area where the incident took place on the 17th of March,
00:54when Hindutva groups, VHP, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal
01:00burned an effigy of Aurangzeb,
01:02allegedly in a green Kalma,
01:04which is the holy cloth of the Muslim community,
01:08and posed that a riot-like situation took place in three areas.
01:14The program that Bajrang Dhani did that day,
01:18he was just telling people that he didn't want to burn the bedsheet that he had made yesterday.
01:22That provoked people.
01:24Some people spread the media about it,
01:26and later in the evening,
01:28when the day was about to end,
01:30people went to the mosque and prayed there.
01:32And the people of the city gathered there.
01:34People went to the Ganeshpet police station and protested.
01:40It was very late when the FIR was filed.
01:42And those who were writing in the FIR,
01:44they were only noting down the picture of Aurangzeb.
01:48They were not noting down the bedsheet.
01:50They were not noting down the bedsheet.
01:52Because they were not noting down the bedsheet,
01:54the people became more aggressive.
01:56If they had done it,
01:58they would have winded it up then,
02:00and the police would have controlled all the activities there.
02:02This was not the case.
02:04I left after praying there.
02:06There was an announcement in the mosque
02:08that there should not be a crowd here.
02:10The crowd should also be sent away.
02:12And no stone-throwing should be allowed here.
02:16If something has to be done,
02:18then do it legally.
02:20This is what Imam Sahib had said.
02:22And when there was a stone-throwing outside,
02:24which would have killed people,
02:26Imam Sahib told us to go home
02:28and not to do anything here.
02:30People have set cars on fire,
02:32broken stones,
02:34children, women, everyone is scared.
02:36Women are also coming out in fear.
02:38When we were at work outside,
02:40we got a call from home,
02:42asking us to come home quickly.
02:44We came running from there in fear.
02:46When our children brought a grass,
03:10they could not burn the grass with it.
03:12We could not light the fire, so on the other side of the road, there was a large piece of a saree.
03:18We wrapped that piece of saree and kept a photo of it there and lit it.
03:23Now these people, with this video, I also think, and the police administration is also accepting that
03:29that video, that photo has been tampered with.
03:32First they accused that they brought the sheet from our mosque.
03:35We can never do this.
03:37The police administration was there.
03:39The entire media was there.
03:40Everyone covered our movement all the time.
03:42The entire media of the police administration was there.
03:45The police administration also had cameras there.
03:47This has never happened anywhere.
03:49Later, they even talked about burning the Quran.
03:51That they burned the Quran.
03:52That is, spreading rumours somewhere and spoiling the atmosphere.
03:55Spoiling the atmosphere of Nagpur.
03:57This was their conspiracy.
04:09They should not arrest innocent people.
04:15We have seen that they have arrested maximum innocent people.
04:18Somebody, they were coming from offering the prayers.
04:22Some were coming for purchasing.
04:25They were shuttering their premises.
04:30I, my brother and our four children and our third brother, I was the fourth brother.
04:37They shut down the shop.
04:38We left for our house at 9.15.
04:41One by one, people came running from there.
04:44We entered our house.
04:46There were three children in the next building with us.
04:49I went to my house.
04:50And my friend, Nilesh Sawalkar.
04:52He went to his house.
04:53And we went to our house.
04:55I went upstairs to feed my goats.
04:58In the meantime, the police came running after people.
05:03And they started beating us.
05:06They started breaking our doors.
05:08They broke three or four of our sticks.
05:11The next day, on the 19th, they came to our house at 3.30 or 4.
05:18And they took our four children and one brother.
05:22They took the two who were 17 years old.
05:24And they took the two who were 19 years old.
05:27They didn't do anything to my brother.
05:29And they hanged all four children.
05:31Now, we have committed such a crime.
05:33What do we do?
