What is a Rage Room, and why do people need it? In a world full of stress, overthinking, and bottled-up emotions, Rage Rooms offer a space where you can break things, literally to feel a sense of release. From personal struggles to work stress and the pressures of social media, sometimes you just need to let it all out.
It’s about having a safe space to express emotions that society often suppresses. Three friends Khushi, Aparna, and Juhi walked into the Rage Room, their laughter briefly drowning out the chaos inside. As Juhi powerfully expressed, “Men are always raging in the streets, on the roads, in the house, at work. It is acceptable for a man to be angry, but women need to keep up the facade of being civilised and ‘soft’. My stresses are immense, but where do I vent without being recommended to a psych ward?”
Ashima Gupta, a clinical psychologist and emotion-focused therapist says that the expression of anger in a healthy manner is something that is neither taught nor accepted; therefore, the rage bottles up and manifests itself in ways that might be unsafe. “Ours is a shame-based society. A failed marriage, a child’s poor grades or losing a job are seen as personal failures one should be ashamed of. To make it worse, the relentless pace of life leaves little room to cope,”.
Anger and rage are natural emotions, but acting them out may not be the solution. While spaces like Rage Rooms offer momentary catharsis, it’s worth asking: why are we so angry? One answer could be late-stage capitalism, which thrives on our rage while selling us a place to vent it, offering temporary relief, depending on who we are and what fuels our fury.

00:00We've come to Todh Pod and it's a good feeling to go inside and do some Todh Pod which makes it feel light!
00:30Sometimes you don't know how to express in words. To remove that feeling from your chest and body, you have to have something of this sort. That's what I feel.
00:53There are a lot of things in my life. I am a businessman, a student and I also do content creation. So, doing so many things at once can be quite hectic.
01:05And when we go at night, we are very full of energy. So, we have come here to remove that feeling.
01:13The reason to come here is that sometimes you cannot talk about something and you think breaking stuff may help you out in some way. So, I am going to test that, if that is going to work.
01:25Yes, we all, regardless of gender, regardless of age, we all are suppressed of our emotions. Whether it is rage, whether it is kindness, generosity and sensitivity.
01:34So, yes, I believe it is not like a life-ending solution for it that once the people will come and go through the session, so it will help it out.
01:42But at the same time, different things need different approach. So, sometimes it deals like an icebreaker stuff.
01:47The people who have repressed emotions and they have never been expressed out. So, yes, by taking these props, he begins how to vent out.
02:04Being a woman of any society, it is like we have a pressure, we have to maintain a image.
02:13We cannot say out things which we think in our head because sometimes it is not acceptable for the society.
02:20And being a man, it is easy. It is not like no one gets angry, everyone gets angry.
02:26Just to show us, that platform is not given. So, I think, might be this is one of the ways.
02:31What I have seen, because I have so many papers. So, generally I have also seen that females are the, like we have the maximum footfall of females.
02:39And males are coming either for supporting them or encouraging them that okay, if you want to come here and explore, we are with you.
02:45We are also there inside the breaking area to have equal participation with you.
02:50Earlier I was going to office, now I have worked from home. So, I feel, I have shifted with my parents.
02:55So, I feel a lack of freedom, like I was enjoying with them, we were staying together and all of these things.
03:02And right now, I am feeling a bit stuck in my life. So, that is the main thing.
03:07Even our mothers feel that way, that they don't have that platform.
03:13And I don't think, even if they know this, they will not do it.
03:16What will they say? What will they do?
03:18Women cannot live as long as there are four people.
