Former Miss Universe-PH Michelle Dee seeks support for children with autism
Michelle Dee, Miss Universe Philippines 2023 and Goodwill Ambassador of Autism Society Philippines (ASP), stresses the need for support for those with autism. Dee, who championed autism awareness on the Miss Universe stage in 2023, won the 'The Voice' for Change award. At the event in Pasay organized by ASP, Dee shared that she finally got the prize money for ASP's future projects. Jon Jon San Agustin, vice president for marketing at SM Supermalls said that SM Supermalls signed a Memorandum of Understanding to hire more people in the autism spectrum, reiterating their mission to make public spaces inclusive. This year, SM Supermalls hosted Angels Walk events in 10 of its provincial locations, drawing more than 10,000 participants. The main walk at Mall of Asia is expected to bring in more than 30,000 walkers — pushing the total number of registered participants to over 40,657 as of May 16, 2025.

00:00I might miss a thing or two, but I was tasked to make kwenture, kasi kwentuhan tayo, on why this advocacy still matters to me.
00:11And it's no question that this is a lifetime mission for myself.
00:16I have been the good will ambassador of ASP since 2016, but I have been championing for autism acceptance, awareness, and inclusivity all throughout my life.
00:26Sa mga hindi ko nakakaalam, I have two siblings on the autism spectrum po.
00:31I have one older and one younger sibling.
00:35So sa mga fans po dito ng Miss Universe, meron po ba? Taas kamay.
00:39Ataman po tayo.
00:41Ataman po ng Miss Universe.
00:43And it's exactly that advocacy that I champion on the global stage and I have championed multiple times and won.
00:51So we won our voice for change and I was tasked with the inclusive work throughout the Philippines.
00:58We won and we finally got the payout and we were finally able to set that in motion.
01:03But every time I stand here on behalf of Autism Society Philippines, I am reminded that this is about the community that I serve.
01:12This is about my purpose.
01:13This is about my family.
01:15And the families that have to go through this every single day, they have to be heard, they need to be seen, and also they need support now.
01:25I just have a few messages, which is that we are really committed and support of the ASP.
01:35You know, from, and we have different activities from the facilities in the mall to, you know, sensory friendly movies that we give them.
01:45And just recently we signed an MOU particularly for inclusive hiring.
01:55And just recently we signed an MOU.
