OPM icon Kitchie Nadal uses music to raise awareness on social issues

Beyond her timeless hits, OPM icon Kitchie Nadal continues to use her voice to raise awareness about pressing global issues, including the crisis in Gaza. Speaking at a press conference in Cebu on Feb. 12, 2025, Nadal shared that being married to a journalist and humanitarian worker has deepened her commitment to advocacy. She believes artists have a responsibility to use their platform to spark meaningful conversations. Kitchie is set to serenade fans at her Valentine’s concert on Feb. 14 in Lapu-Lapu City, where she will be joined by guest performers, including Bunny Liwanag and Cebuano rock bands. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Stimulation and Therapeutic Activity Center (STAC), supporting children with special needs. The event is produced by Twins888 Productions, with ticket prices ranging from P500 to P5,000.

00:00One thing people don't know about me is I'm married to a journalist.
00:05He's an NGP, a humanitarian worker.
00:08And that's why me and my husband, we've been really active.
00:13You know, like, we're sharing our awareness.
00:17And that's why...
00:21Actually, if I'm not married to this guy,
00:26I probably wouldn't even be, you know, like, be, first of all, aware.
00:34And this is something really important to me.
00:38And that's why, as an artist, I feel like it's my obligation
00:43because I know it's hard for me not, you know, just to turn a blind eye.
00:50So that's what I'm doing now.
00:53So I'm just sharing what I got and just, in my own way, you know, help.
