00:00You seem to have recovered.
00:02It's not what it seems.
00:04I still have injuries.
00:06And the fatigue is taking its toll.
00:08But you know that this is unavoidable.
00:11No matter how strong we might become.
00:13So, I'm here.
00:15You said you wanted to talk to me.
00:17Now what is it that's so important?
00:19Hmm...
00:21It's been ten years...
00:23Since Niko Tokita's spirit left this world.
00:27You...
00:30Are you saying you knew Niko?
00:33You and I both suffered a lot of damage.
00:36Neither of us are guaranteed of surviving the match.
00:39So before the fight...
00:41I wanted to tell you what I know while I'm still able.
00:45In every sense, you are Niko's successor.
00:48You deserve to know this.
00:51To know what Niko's style is.
00:53And more importantly, the truth behind it.
00:56You were born in the inside.
01:01The wastelands with no rule of law.
01:04One day in the distant past, a man appeared.
01:07He came from outside of it.
01:09That man had a dark ambition.
01:12The unification of the inside.
01:15Unification?
01:17Yes.
01:18Make them one.
01:19And he wasn't above using martial force to do it.
01:23The way that man fought, went on to become the very foundation of Niko's style.
01:29Lukaku Gao.
01:30Lukaku Gao.
01:31The last successor of the Gao style of Koryu Jiu Jitsu.
01:36He journeyed far, showing off his devastating technique to take down any person that dared stand in his way.
01:45However, the walls around the inside were thick.
01:49Ten years, twenty years, thirty years.
01:52He kept trying for a quarter of a century.
01:55But in the end, he couldn't achieve his goal.
01:58After many long years, Gao finally decided to pass on his dream to the next generation.
02:04That's when he set his sights on the kids who lived in the inside.
02:10There were many orphans, some of whom had been abandoned there.
02:14He picked out kids who had a talent for fighting, and made them his disciples.
02:19Once that began, he was able to start passing on his techniques to those children.
02:25I see where you're going.
02:27We rounded up a bunch of kids to train them how to fight.
02:31And one was Niko.
02:33They all were.
02:35Every one of Gao's disciples would adopt the moniker of Niko Tokita when they came in.
02:41There were two main reasons for this.
02:44The people who lived in the inside were extremely hostile toward anyone from the outside.
02:50So the disciples used the name Niko Tokita to give the impression that they were from the inside.
02:56The other was to create a legend.
02:59The various Niko Tokitas traveled to different areas within the inside, each leaving their mark behind them.
03:07Those stories would eventually combine to become a legend about a single Niko Tokita.
03:12From the vast amount of their deeds, Tokita became a fictional charismatic entity to help unify the inside.
03:19Now I see.
03:21So that's why Ryo Himuro knows Niko.
03:25That makes a lot of sense.
03:27The plan he conceived was successful.
03:29One rumor spiraled out into another.
03:32The legend of Niko Tokita began to grow bigger day by day.
03:36Meanwhile, so too did the list of people who wanted Niko's head.
03:41The organizations who held the power within the inside began to see Niko as a threat and wanted to eliminate him.
03:50As the conflicts intensified, Gao decided to pass on his secret arts to his disciples in order to win.
03:57The location he used to pass on his secret techniques was Gakikahara Forest, once known as a highly disciplined holy land.
04:05However, trouble was stirring in the forest.
04:08Almost all of the Niko's within it had been brutally murdered.
04:12The ones who did survive had run far away.
04:16And on that day, Mukaku Gao vanished into thin air, never to be seen again.
04:25I came here with a friend who also wanted to learn more.
04:28They died here.
04:31That must have been what he meant.
04:33And with that, I have shared everything I know with you.
04:37I have to admit, this is hard to swallow.
04:40Why did Niko decide to tell you that at all?
04:43More to the point, what's your connection to Niko in the first place?
04:47The Niko style you know is not just to re-approach to Gao style under a different name.
04:53It is a form that cut out all unnecessary elements from the past and added in new techniques to try and streamline it for modern times.
05:02And the person who helped to compile that list of techniques is my master.
05:09And Gao was an old friend of my master.
05:12Ever since they were young, the two would fight and compare techniques many years ago.
05:18Most of what I told you here were the things that were relayed to me by my master.
05:24Then, what is it?
05:27You saying your style is similar to Niko's?
05:30You think they were related or something?
05:32The first time I had the chance to meet Niko, ten years had passed already since the tragedy in that forest.
05:39Niko was trying to track down what happened to Gao.
05:42He found out about Kaiwan style based on the writings that were left behind.
05:46By that point, my master had passed away many years prior.
05:51I could tell exactly how powerful Niko was at first glance.
05:56This is what he said to me.
05:58I want you to help me.
06:01I want you to help me.
06:02Where are you waiting long?
06:18No, not at all.
06:20Don't worry about it.
06:22two have your conversation yeah I'm glad I heard the story I see what it's
06:31almost time for me to go yes let's head to the arena oh there's one other thing
06:38if you wouldn't mind Akiyama could you go on ahead no need for concern I'll make
06:45sure we're wrapped up before he has to go out there
06:48wrapped up all right now come on it's just a bit of man-to-man time
06:53listen something wrong Kaede Akiyama I was against all this I was opposed to you fighting in the
07:02semifinals but now that we're here and and you insist on fighting in this condition I know your
07:11pride is important and I don't understand it but I've made my own decision
07:17I won't stop you anymore thank you
07:23well then Oma would you be so kind as to keep me company until the match starts
07:35Oma how's the pressure is it okay yeah that's perfect I didn't know you did shiatsu massage
07:47yeah I was taught a few tricks by Kureishi sometime near round three he's a fighter but as he got older
07:54he diversified and opened a chiropractic clinic I was quite impressed he's even got multiple
08:00certifications oh he's Cosmo E-mice teacher right he comes off like a pretty amazing guy to me he was only
08:08able to teach me a little bit hardly anything it's not like I'm a professional at this but I thought it
08:15might be helpful for you if I'd learned now if I remember correctly the sympathetic nerve is here
08:24I've heard doing acupuncture works even better than this oh I've never actually noticed
08:32noticed Oma you've been through so much you've had so many injuries to your body when I first met you I
08:40was so impressed by how big you were I didn't even notice your scars I guess I really didn't know much of
08:48anything then of course my body is covered in scars every minute of my life I've been fighting and
08:57fighting for just about as long as I can remember hey Yamashita do you remember this scar yes of course
09:06I do it's from Lihito when he used laser's edge even after all this time it still hurts when it rains
09:13things but don't tell that to Lihito he'll let it go to his head I think you're right on that one
09:21Lihito would be so thrilled and that guy isn't the only one to leave a mark that injury I got from
09:27Sekibayashi still bothers me from time to time some of the other injuries I've handled occasionally flare
09:35up as well as Nico used to say it's the price I pay for being so reckless all these years
09:42I'm only just realizing I've been wrong this whole time I thought strength meant invincibility
09:53being fearless and immortal in the face of any incoming attack but the reality is the damage
10:00comes with a price that he passed his limit a long time ago there's not a single part of him
10:06that isn't scarred he's actually in pretty bad shape but that doesn't mean he's ever going to stop
10:15trying to fight looks like it's about that time let's go Kazuo Yamashita
10:23just take a minute to look at
