Bournemouth vs Aston Villa - Matt Maher preview
Transcript
00:00Good afternoon from Boddemore Heath, where Villa boss Unai Emery has confirmed the bad news that emerged yesterday about Uri Tielemans.
00:10The midfielder has an injury and he's definitely going to miss Villa's trip to Bournemouth on Saturday.
00:17The likelihood, we understand or I understand, is that Uri Tielemans is unlikely to play again for Villa this season.
00:24Unai Emery didn't go that far. He's not a manager who tends to worry about injured players when they're injured.
00:30He just said that Tielemans would be out this weekend and it'll be tested again next week.
00:35It's a small injury, but obviously with just a fortnight of the season to go, 16 days until the last game at Manchester United,
00:43there is not a lot of time for him to recover.
00:46A huge blow for Villa. Tielemans is the only player to have started every Premier League game.
00:51He started every game in the Champions League as well. Out of 54 matches that Villa have played this season so far,
00:57he'd started 52 of them. He really has been outstanding.
01:01Obviously scored the only goal in last week's win against Fulham and he's going to take some replacing.
01:07He's certainly going to sweep the boards you would expect at the end of season player awards.
01:14Marcus Rashford is also out, still missing with a hamstring injury.
01:18Obviously, the likelihood of him playing again for Villa this season seems remote.
01:23But otherwise, Unai Emery's got everybody fit at this point.
01:29Huge game, obviously, for Villa tomorrow. They're all big games now, aren't they?
01:33But particularly away at Bournemouth.
01:35Likelihood is Villa need to win the remaining three games if they're going to stand any chance of chasing down the top five in the Premier League.
01:42But this, you would say, looks the toughest on paper.
01:46Bournemouth, of course, scored late at Villa Park to get a 1-1 draw back in October.
01:52Two points dropped for Villa. Not the only two points they've dropped at home this season.
01:57They're in good form at the minute, obviously, Villa, as we know.
01:59Unai Emery's saying that this is the highest test now tomorrow at Bournemouth.
02:04If you feel if Villa can win this, it would set them fair for the last two games.
02:07If they win this weekend with other teams in the race for the Champions League playing each other,
02:12then they would end the weekend no worse than a point off the top five.
02:17It won't be easy, but if there's time for a big performance in Villa, it really is tomorrow at the Vitality Stadium.
