00:00I'm really happy to win this stage and yeah I'm very proud of the work we did as a team.
00:12Mentally I know I'm very very strong. So today my win was a sacrifice for all the people who
00:25really are doing mentally. Welcome to stage six of La Vuelta Femenina. Demi Follering is back in the
00:34red jersey after her demonstration yesterday on Laguna Stenela and she is potentially just one
00:39day away from winning this race for the second time. On paper today is one for the sprinters
00:45although there is a risk of echelons if the wind picks up later in the day. Either way
00:50Mariana Voss is the woman to beat. Visma and Lisa Bike are the team we really need to look to.
00:56Obviously they have the green jersey I'm sure they want to keep it and we know that Mariana is really
01:02good in these kind of sprint finishes so they will be the team for controlling today but I think it's
01:08also possible that a breakaway can go so it's really up to Visma to see how they control the race.
01:13126.7 kilometers between Becerril de Campos and Baltanas with no categorized climbs on the menu
01:21although there are a couple of lumps and bumps in the final. As ever the GC favorites will have
01:26to be switched on to avoid any mishaps. Well there was a very lively start today with lots of attacks
01:35but it took nearly 50 kilometers for a group of 19 riders to get away and they didn't have much of a
01:40gap. Well you could see why the peloton didn't want to let them go. Some big names up front including
01:46Ellen van Dijk, Kristen Faulkner, Pfeiffer Georgie, Femke Marcus, Vittoria Guazzini and Marion Bunel.
01:53The only world tour teams who didn't have a rider in there were UAE team ADQ and Movistar but plenty
01:58of others had also missed it so the chase was on. Well the riders are wrapping up warm in this chilly
02:04weather so Demi following not able to show off that red jersey just yet. The peloton still hammering away
02:10as they started to hoover up the escapees and with around 45 kilometers to go it was breakaway
02:15over for all of about 10 seconds and then Lea Lynn Teuttenberg sparked a new move. Attack from a lot of
02:22they have fewer and fewer opportunities so more and more investment from more and more teams.
02:30The German was joined by Sarah Roy of EF Education Oatley and Nicole Steichinger of AG Insurance Sudau.
02:37Then three more riders looked to counter. Nicola Niskova, Andrea Casagranda and Andrea Alzate.
02:45They would even be joined by a fourth woman Titia Rio. So three out front and four chasing and this
02:51was certainly a much easier situation for the peloton to control with just seven riders out there instead
02:57of 19. With 27 kilometers to go Teuttenberg, Roy and Steichinger led the chases by 55 seconds
03:04with the peloton at 1 minute and 30. Various teams across the front, UNO-X, Visma Lisa Bike,
03:11Carfidus, SD Works, Picnic, Postonel with nobody really driving the chase for the time being.
03:17The breakaway groups just rolling through the intermediate sprint and taking all the points
03:22and bonuses as the peloton began to chase with a bit more urgency. They brought back the chases
03:27with just over 20k to go. Visma Lisa Bike now driving the bunch but they weren't the only ones.
03:33Picnic, Postonel working for Megan Jastrab and Franziska Koch, Lidl Trek for Anna Henderson
03:38and FTJ Suez for Ali Wollaston.
03:41Babette van der Voel for VF Education Oatley then attacked on the descent with Henderson quickly on her wheel.
03:48They didn't go clear but the gap to the breakaway was now just 15 seconds and they were soon caught.
03:54With all of these little kickers in the final, the stage had suddenly burst into life as Liana Lippert unleashed for Movistar.
04:02Here you go, springboard attack for Lippert by the looks of things.
04:06Who's going to be able to control this one? Visma Lisa Bike spotting the danger.
04:10Lippert was followed by Voss, Follering and van der Breyken,
04:13so all of a sudden Movistar found themselves on the back foot
04:16with their leader Marlon Reusser forced a chase to defend her GC position.
04:21There was a brief stalemate as Reusser came back to that front group
04:25but then Lippert went again, followed this time by Voss and Misha Bredewalds.
04:29Absolutely full gas racing as teams like UNO-X and Lidl-Trek tried to close the gap
04:35and eventually they caught up with just under 10km remaining.
04:39There was one final rise that topped out with around 4km to go,
04:43Cedrin Kerbayol also trying her luck for EF over the top
04:46but her rivals were straight onto the wheel.
04:49It was an explosive final indeed but it would come down to the expected bunch sprint,
04:54Imogen Wolf leading out for Mariana Voss.
04:58Into the final bend with Mariana Voss in third position,
05:03Bredewald second in line and Mariana Voss looking to take her cue
05:07from the SD work squad again, is she going to be able to come up and over?
05:10Bredewald for glory but is this Mariana Voss coming up and around the outside?
05:13Will she be able to get up and around it this time?
05:15This time it is Mariana Voss, it's going to get the glory by the narrowest of margins.
05:20Will it go to the photograph to be firmly established?
05:22And the winner of the stage confirms, Mariana Voss.
05:28Voss securing her second stage victory of the week and boy did she have to work hard for it.
05:34The Dutch woman won by a country mile back on stage 2 but she was pushed all the way here by Bredewald.
05:40A win's a win though and she's now doubled up at the last three editions of La Vuelta Femenina.
05:46I'm very happy and exhausted to be honest but we knew as a team today was a chance for us and we wanted to go all in and we did.
05:56And in the end it was really close so I was happy I could just take it.
06:02Voss denying Bredewald what would have been her third win of 2025.
06:07Wollaston was third ahead of Lara Gillespie with Steichinger an impressive fifth in spite of her earlier efforts in the breakaway.
06:14No changes at the top of the GC despite that little skirmish late in the day.
06:19Follering remains 45 seconds clear of van der Brechen before tomorrow's big finale in the mountains.
06:24Voss now has a massive lead in the points classification.
06:28She's 98 clear of Femke Heritse and as long as she finishes the race she'll be heading home with that green jersey.
06:35Follering is also our queen of the mountains and if she has another good day on the climbs tomorrow she may well be finishing with two distinctive jerseys.
06:45Six down, one to go and on Saturday La Vuelta Femenina finishes with a bang in the Asturias with the queen stage to the Alto de Cotobillo.
06:54Don't miss it, join us again tomorrow and thanks for watching.
