Albion legend Tony Brown on the racial abuse suffered by The Three Degrees
Transcript
00:00I think the rest of the players, the squad, protected them very well, you know, because we used to go, especially, well, in away games, they get horrible abuse, you know, racial abuse, and the things that they had to put up with were horrendous and things thrown at them, but as I say, I think the rest of the players in this club at that time helped them through that situation, and they became firm favourites with the squad.
00:30And credit for them for being so strong-minded, and ultimately they've gone rightly down as trailblazers and pioneers.
00:36Yeah, yeah, because they, it was the first, like, kind of, you know, first kind of black players, probably three in one club at the same time, you know, and as I say, away games have got this abuse, but they, they got their own backing game, because they turned on, you know, the way they built,
00:59they played the game, you know, the pace and the power of them, and even, let's say, Brendan was a great full-back as well, he was getting forward, tremendous player, and, you know, I think, I think they, I think at the end of the day, you know, the away fans who were giving them abuse saw what good players they were, you know, and they kept a little bit quieter after that.
