Transcript
00:00We are backstage at the 60th annual ACM Awards with one of our Entertainer of the Year nominees, Ms. Lainey Wilson.
00:06What's going on?
00:07I am so excited for you. You are going to have an incredible night tonight. How are you feeling? Are you nervous? Are you excited?
00:12All of the above.
00:14Yeah.
00:14It's really hard to put a finger on one emotion during weeks like this. It's like, I'm happy, I'm scared, I'm excited, I'm terrified, I'm all of it.
00:23Literally all of it. You're performing.
00:24What can you say about your performance?
00:26I'm getting to do a song with Miranda and Reba.
00:28Oh, wow. No pressure there.
00:30No pressure there. I know I'm like...
00:32How was rehearsals for that?
00:33It was great.
00:34Yeah?
00:34It was great. Me and Miranda wrote a song with Brandi Clark for me and Miranda and Reba to do together, and it's called Trailblazers, and it's just, it's really special.
00:44I mean, I'm partial, but it's not just a message for the women in the country music business.
00:49It's really just a message in general for those ladies that kind of help pull each other up over that wall.
00:56That's incredible. I can't wait to see this.
00:57You also were teasing a little bit of new music this week. Talk about that.
01:02Yeah, girl. I'm excited.
01:04Okay.
01:05I mean, new music always feels good, just because I feel like before Whirlwind, the record was even out.
01:11I was already working on new music, you know.
01:14Well, you have to with your schedule.
01:15Yeah, you just gotta be on it. So, if it was up to me, I'd be releasing a song every month, but that's just not realistic right now.
01:22So, I'm excited to share it. I feel like somehow, some way, it's kind of like we're constantly meeting that next level of whatever that is.
01:35So, I hope y'all love it as much as I do.
01:37You were teasing this on the piano. Is it a piano song?
01:40Yeah. It's got some piano in it.
01:41I love that for you.
01:41We wrote it on the piano.
01:42Okay.
01:43So, that's where it started.
01:45That's amazing. You also, big news this week, are making your first full-length feature film debut.
01:51Yeah.
01:52Colleen Hoover's Reminders of Him. I have not read this book.
01:54Yeah.
01:54You have read the book, I'm assuming.
01:56Okay. Tell me about how all this came together.
01:59You know.
02:00Have you shot for it yet?
02:00Yeah.
02:01Oh, my gosh. This is done.
02:02Yeah. My part's done.
02:03And I'm getting to play somebody that's not a musician, which is cool.
02:06Yeah.
02:07And just kind of step into somebody completely different than me.
02:13How did you get in the headspace for this?
02:16Well, I will tell you.
02:17Luckily, I feel like once I kind of developed the character on my own, I feel like I really did find a lot of similarities.
02:24I saw a lot of myself in her, and I think that probably made it a little bit easier.
02:31My next thing I do, I'm like, what happens if it's like a villain or something like that?
02:35Which I'm sure there will be parts of me be like, I see myself in here, too, you know?
02:41Oh, my gosh. This is so fun. I just feel like just every week lately, there's like some new thing that you are checking off the list.
02:47Feels good.
02:47I feel so happy for you. What else are you like really excited about this year?
02:51Oh, my gosh.
02:52Music, movies.
02:54Music, movies, all of it. Just I feel like I'm having a lot more balance this year, which I'm excited about.
02:59We're still playing lots of shows, but I'm getting to spend a little bit more time with my family and get to celebrate my nephew's birthdays coming up.
03:07And it's just, it's all good stuff.
03:09Makes me happy to hear that because we've talked about this a lot.
03:11Like, you have been running yourself ragged the last few years.
03:14So, I'm very happy to see you.
03:16Thank you. I love you so much.
