00:00much has been said and discussed about the proposal to rebuild RFK stadium and
00:05to get a NFL stadium there.
00:08Um,
00:09the commander's moving in.
00:10I think a number of things make this,
00:14this version of this discussion much different than previous times.
00:20Well,
00:20the absolute top of the list ownership change.
00:23Right.
00:24The new owners are,
00:26by all accounts,
00:27stand up people,
00:27right?
00:28Like,
00:28uh,
00:30they do things the right way and they have deep pockets and a lot of
00:34connections.
00:34This is,
00:35this is a different world to the team's good.
00:40All of a sudden,
00:41I think Jaden Daniels is a factor in this,
00:43right?
00:43It makes a world of difference.
00:44But beyond that,
00:45a huge part of this is that the owners are putting up a boatload of cash.
00:52They're putting up somewhere between two and a half and $3 billion.
00:56Okay.
00:56That to me changes things.
01:00It is not like the phrase,
01:02put your money where your mouth is.
01:03They're doing it.
01:05And so there was a lot of excitement.
01:08The first day,
01:09the announcement at the press club with mayor Bowser and Josh Harris and Roger Goodell.
01:15And then inevitably there are questions,
01:18opposition,
01:19pushback.
01:21What,
01:21what I find fascinating is there has been discussion that folks that don't live in
01:26the city.
01:28Shouldn't weigh in on this,
01:29which I think is kind of silly,
01:30but what the post did,
01:32and I applaud them for doing this is they did a survey of DC residents,
01:36how they feel about using city money to pay for a new commander stadium.
01:42And the results to me are pretty darn significant.
01:4655% of DC residents favor it.
01:5155% of DC residents favor it.
01:54I kind of,
01:55this is,
01:55this is one thing that I have a problem with the way that that question was
01:59stated.
01:59Anyway,
02:0055% you got the majority.
02:03Yes.
02:04But the,
02:06they're not building the stadium.
02:09See,
02:10that's the difference.
02:11That money is being used for infrastructure,
02:13which is going to have to be built,
02:15whether the stadium is there or not.
02:17Am I right?
02:17Yeah.
02:18Maybe not to that level,
02:20but the team comes in with 2.7 bill,
02:23you know,
02:24and that,
02:24that's all there for the league,
02:26put in some,
02:26whatever,
02:27but you're going to have to spend,
02:29500 to 750 million anyway,
02:34whether the stadium is there or not.
02:37But I think that a lot of people who like to sit up here and tell us stuff,
02:42politicians,
02:43they may not even much talk to their constituents.
02:46I find that very interesting.
02:48You say that be just so we're clear.
02:49This is a Washington Post-Shar poll.
02:53This is a legitimately well-run,
02:56well-done poll.
02:57It's a random sampling of 651 adult residents of DC.
03:03And the poll was conducted from April 22nd to May 4th.
03:06So last time I put out poll data,
03:09I had critics say,
03:11oh,
03:12well,
03:12you know who,
03:13where'd that poll come from?
03:14Right?
03:14Like this one is from the post.
03:16This is not from the mayor's office or an opposition office.
03:19This is what should be an unbiased poll.
03:22What I find far more interesting.
03:24And honestly,
03:27this conversation has gone on my entire life.
