00:00And the debate that's raging all over the Internet hit our airwaves on 106.7, the fan and the Grant and Danny radio program.
00:08Oh, who would win in a fight?
00:11One gorilla?
00:12Oh, man.
00:13Or 100 men?
00:14Oh, no.
00:15And I want to know if you agree or disagree.
00:17And in fact, several listeners have sent me direct messages on Instagram today to make sure that I got you to weigh in on this.
00:25So I will pay that off.
00:27But my take was, and I went around the room to try to get conviction and agreement, and I was at least 0 for 2.
00:36I might have been 0 for 3 yesterday in the studio.
00:40Toby, I think, agreed with me, but only, yeah, I couldn't tell.
00:43He said he was afraid of the gorilla, so he was going to say what he needed to say so the gorilla wasn't mad at him or something.
00:47Here's my take.
00:48100 men beat the gorilla.
00:50I think people are insane.
00:51Insane.
00:51The people that are saying the gorilla wins are not giving 100 men in their wit and their smarts and their strength enough credit.
01:00They're acting like this one gorilla is going to do so much damage when I'm flanking him from all sides and we're tackling him, grabbing him around the legs and, you know, putting him in a headlock.
01:10So I ask you, Danny, who, TA, who wins in a fight, one gorilla or 100 men?
01:14Gorilla, and it's not close.
01:15The insanity to think that any human being could do anything to a gorilla one-on-one without tools is nuts.
01:22Now, is there weaponry?
01:25Then it's a different story.
01:26No, one-on-one, I agree with you.
01:28A gorilla would just Hulk smash every dude one by one.
01:31Here's the mistake you're making.
01:32If 100 people were somehow able to influence directly the gorilla, there's not enough space and time to do that.
01:38At most, three, four, five at a time can get close enough to the gorilla to get annihilated and killed.
01:44Fifteen?
01:45I'm going to say fifteen.
01:46You mean the fifteen dead people?
01:48Then the next fifteen can come.
01:49So here's my plan.
01:50Hear me out on this and then you can pick it apart.
01:52Or maybe I'll convince you.
01:54We're locking arms and we're going to have...
01:58Instant deaths.
01:59No.
02:00Waves of men.
02:01I'm thinking ten to twelve across, like ten lines.
02:06Now, how willing to die are these men?
02:07Well, that's the other thing.
02:09The tip of the spear, you're dying.
02:11For the cause of this hypothetical.
02:13Yeah.
02:13Where you just got to prove that you can beat a gorilla.
02:15It's a tough sell.
02:16It is.
02:17But just play along.
02:18If we're going to win the gorilla fight, you 31 guys, you're coming from the front.
02:22No, I said this yesterday.
02:24All 100 of us aren't coming home.
02:26We're doing this for a larger cause, right?
02:29I'm going to say as many as...
02:33Well, as few as maybe six to eight and as many as like 20 to 30 are probably not kissing their wives that night.
02:41Okay?
02:42That's not how it's going to happen.
02:43Oh, yeah.
02:44But the rest of us get to persevere.
02:46So, the way I see it is, we're going to be in lines.
02:49So, it's going to be like ten or twelve across, three lines deep, and there's going to be four of us, four groups.
02:56Think about like sides, walls of a room, all coming at the gorilla from all angles.
03:01So, in front of them, behind them, left and right, I'm going to say like 25, 30 guys each, all running at the same time, surrounding the gorilla.
03:11First group's going to get got, for sure.
03:15But, slowly but surely, we're jumping on him, we're pinning him down, we're holding him down, and we're just swinging, and we're trying to choke him out as best we can.
03:27Yeah.
03:27You're right.
03:28Human beings are going to try to survive the encounter, which means they're automatically...
03:32It's death.
03:33Instant death.
03:34If he decides it's your time, it's your time.
03:35There is no physical effect that a human being could cause this gorilla.
03:41You follow me?
03:42Like, you punching him is like throwing a grape at him.
03:45It is as significant to him as an ant charging you.
03:51Right?
03:52Or like, oh, there's seven ants, and they're coming in four, they're locked arms.
03:54Like, death.
03:56This is an average-sized gorilla.
03:57It could be, we're not necessarily saying 600 pounds.
04:00It might be, it's randomized, right?
04:02It's like a 396-pound gorilla.
04:03Do I get 100 Ken Shamrocks, or are they average dudes, too?
04:07I think they're average guys, but that's my point.
04:09What if we went the biggest...
04:11How about this?
04:12What if we went 100 hand-picked men like Braun Strowman and Andre the Giant and Mark Henry from WWE?
04:21Like the best combatants we've got.
04:23Yeah.
04:24Hand-to-hand, like the Mountain from Game of Thrones.
04:27Exactly, against a random gorilla.
04:29I think we'd win that.
04:30Now there's more of a chance.
04:31Let's go!
04:32It would still be death for every human if the gorilla willed it.
04:35I'm getting my tweet ready.
04:36Danny says 100 men would beat the gorilla.
04:38No, it's the utter lack of respect and confusion on these kinds of issues baffles me.
04:47Again, nature, so violent, so strong.
04:50Please respect it.
04:52The idea that, again, if there was a way, if there was a pushing contest somehow where the gorilla could exert his force and indirectly, but also in direct competition.
05:03Like if there's a wall that can move one way or the other, 100 men pushing at one time would beat a gorilla pushing on the opposite side.
05:13Does that make sense?
05:13Yeah.
05:13Like the 100 men would win.
05:15You can't get 200 pairs of hands on this gorilla just by the nature of space and time and distance.
05:21But remember, I'm flanking him from all angles.
05:23I understand that.
05:24And it's dogpiling the gorilla with just piles of humanity.
05:27Again, you can't get 100 on top of him either.
05:29The most you can get is two or three.
05:31And he flings them off.
05:33They're bruised and battered.
05:34And as they get back up, he's already swung and clubbed anybody that he wants clubbed.
05:38So me and my wife got into it last night over this a little bit.
05:41She is adamantly team gorilla.
05:43Yeah.
05:43And she can't believe that I'm not.
05:45Like, I can't believe anybody would say anything other than the gorilla.
05:47She said, and I quote, they weigh 800 pounds.
05:50This one might not.
05:50We don't know.
05:51She said they can lift 1,800 pounds.
05:54I think she's making that up.
05:55I'll take her word for it.
05:57She said they have four inch long fangs.
05:59That seems longer than I would imagine.
06:00She said, one punch, he kills you, and he'd get tired of doing it.
06:05She said he could rip limbs off, basically, and just swing them around like a baseball bat.
06:11I don't see it this way.
06:13Also, the gorilla is not going to know right away that it's life or death.
06:18So it could eventually learn, oh, man, I'm fighting for my life here, and start wreck shopping people and just murder balling dudes.
06:24But initially, I think we get the upper hand quickly because the gorilla is like, hey, guys, what's going on?
06:30Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, see what I'm saying?
06:33And then next thing you know, upper hand.
06:36Again, the strongest of no's, the idea that you could have any effect on the gorilla that I'm showing you on the video.
06:43One-on-one in a cage would be stupid to say that I would.
06:45A gorilla would pummel me one-on-one.
06:48It's me and 99 dudes.
06:50I think we'd beat them.
06:52We're smarter.
06:53I think that's insane.
06:54The smarts have to do with it.
06:55Again, if there's the ability to invent tools, you could distract him with something and come up with it and make a tomahawk or make a gun.
07:03Get people to shout.
07:04He looks over.
07:05You punch him right in the temple.
07:07Or, you know, that wouldn't do much.
07:09That's like blowing in his ear.
07:10Yeah, decidedly that would not do much.
07:13It's the choking out we've got to do.
07:14I think it's the choking out.
07:16The incident goes, oh, that's enough.
07:18So, like, what are you going to do?
07:18Restrain his arms?
07:20No one there can.
07:20You keep saying me.
07:21It's me and dozens of people.
07:23Your team.
07:24No one can.
07:25He rips you all apart.
07:27Then the guy that's holding on to his neck, he throws over and maybe bites.
07:31The instant he feels threatened, everyone there is dead as soon as he feels like it.
07:36Doug just said, I don't know why, he retweeted my picture of Capital One Arena previewing the Caps game tonight with his comment, which is hilarious.
07:45But it's a picture of the arena, and he says, 100 men would easily be able to rip a gorilla's eyes out and victory would follow.
07:51Now, this is getting violent, but he might be on to something.
07:53Well, if you're trying to life or death, it is a violent encounter.
07:56Of course.
07:57Like, we're not just going up to a gorilla at the zoo and smacking him in the face and seeing what's what.
08:01Someone's telling me I don't understand how massive, fast, strong, and downright angry, violent a silverback can be.
08:06Look, if you mess with the wrong silverback, he might have a chance.
08:10I'm just saying, average gorilla, 100 average dudes, FanDuel odds right now, humans, minus 140.
08:19Gorilla, plus 210.
08:21Humans, waste of money, down the toilet.
08:23Gorilla, whatever the number you want.
08:24I must not be thinking of the right gorilla then.
08:27Because to me, it's that 450 pound and up arms that are longer than my entire body.
08:36Unbearable strength.
08:37It's just the guy that's sitting behind the glass at the zoo in D.C.
08:42That's what I'm thinking.
08:43You know, he's there.
08:45He might be 400 pounds.
08:4720 men at 200, or excuse me, 100 men at 200 pounds each.
08:5520,000 pounds.
08:56Metric ton.
08:57I mean, they could lift thousands.
08:59Oh.
09:00Grant and Danny on the fan.
09:02So it sounds like your team gorilla.
09:04Gorilla 100%.
09:04That's the best I can figure out.
09:06That's the best I can figure out.
09:06That's the best I can figure out.
09:06That's the best I can figure out.
09:06That's the best I can figure out.
09:06That's the best I can figure out.
09:06That's the best I can figure out.
09:06That's the best I can figure out.
09:06That's the best I can figure out.
09:06That's the best I can figure out.
09:06That's the best I can figure out.
09:07That's the best I can figure out.
09:07That's the best I can figure out.
09:08That's the best I can figure out.
09:09That's the best I can figure out.
09:10That's the best I can figure out.
09:11That's the best I can figure out.
09:12That's the best I can figure out.
