00:00fantasy springs resort casino and in the air-conditioned comfort there could be more than
00:04a little bit of heat in the ring behind us as cornelius bundridge and cory spinks in a rematch
00:11for the ibf 154 pound title we take a look at cory spinks he is the son of course of leon spinks
00:23whose 14-year career has had plenty of ups and downs he won the welterweight title
00:27back in 03 when he beat michelle picharillo then he unified three titles with a win over wild and
00:33crazy ricardo mayorga before losing them to zab judah that in his third defense he did capture the
00:41junior middleweight title in 2006 unsuccessfully challenged jermaine taylor for the middleweight
00:46belt and then lost one back and lost again his junior middleweight belt since losing that belt
00:54to bundridge spinks has had a couple of fights he won a unanimous decision against shakir ashanti
01:00and then he fought seki powell but at 34 and with the clock ticking in several years
01:05of relative inactivity working against him spinks will try and reclaim his title
01:11once again steve well barry you saw in that graphic that was up a few seconds ago that
01:17his last fight cory spinks was in january 2012 earlier this year this will be only the second
01:24time in nine years that he's fought twice in a year inactivity has been a huge problem for
01:29cory spinks but i think he realizes as he said this is his last shot he got in good shape it's just a
01:36question again how much does he have left and that'll be answered in the next hour and the other
01:43half of this matchup is a guy who is every bit as hungry as cory spinks cory incidentally will have
01:50his dad leon in his corner tonight and he feels certainly that this is a last hurrah kind of occasion
01:59for him that he's got to go out there and do perhaps what he didn't do the last time well we
02:04know cory spinks has tons of heart and he's going to need it against this guy tonight and this guy
02:09is 16 year professional cornelius canine bundridge he's not been very active either over the last few
02:16years tonight will make just his third fight in three years and his first in 12 months he had one
02:24title defense that was a 12-round unanimous decision over the aforementioned secure powell very aggressive
02:31fighter memory started on a reality show now world champion and he expects that spinks will show more
02:39movement this time than he did the last time but he will look to repeat the result of their first fight
02:46and what memories seen emmanuel stewart in that yellow and red croc shirt bring but bundridge he and
02:52spinks fighting again it's sort of the culmination of four-man private round robin between bundridge spinks
02:58deandre latimore and saku powell they've all fought each other it's been like an intermural thing
03:03and uh now they all want to move well especially bundridge wants to move on and move up yeah and
03:07they've eliminated powell from the picture so what's left is the two that are standing tonight
03:11and what's left for us is to get to our main event the rematch for the 154 pound title and once more

05:55the reigning and defending ibf junior middleweight champion of the world the iron man cornelius canine
06:05runnin and runnin here
06:09two seconds fighters
06:15what we got what we got here
06:17which one do you want
06:19this one's good
06:21turn off look this is good right here this is good right here turn off
06:25you need to look you listen to my commands touch clubs god bless
06:29sphinx didn't want to look at bundridge there interesting we look at the numbers sphinx much
06:36taller but not much longer what i find interesting is the respective ages sphinx five years younger
06:44i think the public perception is that he's the older of the two the rules a little different than
06:48our first two fights these are the unified rules no standing in no three knockdown only the ref can stop
06:52the fight can't be saved by the bell in any round the accidental foul rule if we get a stoppage
06:56before and the four no decision after that we go to the cards
07:02and with that we are set to go to our main event we're
07:05corey sphinx wearing the white front and canine bundridge
07:10wearing the green with the fringe you ready are you ready
07:15look like time keepers let's go
07:17significantly i think bundridge is not so much as broken a sweat
07:22often times you'll see a flash knockdown in a situation like this
07:30and the truth be told in the last fight neither man was very active
07:34so i think whoever could bring the fight in this case might have an edge
07:37yeah it's a good point uh bundridge fights in spurts
07:41corey sphinx average i believe it was 16 punches per round in that first fight
07:46took a right hand right there from bundridge
07:50and another good right hand two right hands both landed by bundridge well that's where uh
07:55budget did the damage the first time a couple years ago with that right hand
07:59not uncommon against the southpaw
08:03sphinx says i have no excuses this time another right hand just a little bit short
08:08it's important that bundridge takes things out of his comfort zone and that means not just trying to
08:20create a fast pace but it means muscling him forearms inside fighting all that stuff the last fight was
08:27it was a pretty ugly fight in that regard and i'm sure bundridge would be perfectly happy to make it so this time as well
08:41the right hand
08:46spick so far really unable to get off
08:50no no no
08:56mma there was no body slam though
09:05professor speaks to have any chance barry i think he's got to get that jab on track
09:08So far, he has not done it.
09:14Get your hand off him.
09:15First round has been all Budridge.
09:21And K-9 Bunch is the kind of fighter.
09:23He doesn't care if you miss him.
09:25He just keeps going.
09:26He's not a smooth boxer at all.
09:30Some butts.
09:31Get your hands off your head.
09:32Doesn't have to be pretty, gentlemen.
09:33No, it doesn't.
09:34He's a strong, physically strong.
09:37Oh, my hand.
09:38Now goes Spinks.
09:39Three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
09:48Will I continue?
09:49Come to me.
09:49Come to me.
09:49Hands up.
09:51Let's go.
09:52I'm not sure Spinks is all the way back yet.
09:55We're probably going to fight him there.
09:57There's an idea of what happened in the last fight.
10:0215 seconds to go.
10:03First round.
10:04Donald Brown is for the champion.
10:07And again, a lot of wrestling, a lot of grabbing, but also a lot of damage done by Budridge.
10:14Stop the wrestling, guys.
10:16You guys want to look good, stop the wrestling.
10:17All right.
10:18Tie in.
10:23End of his first round in the big one for Budridge.
10:25How are you doing?
10:26How are you doing?
10:27Doing good.
10:28You're doing good.
10:29You're doing good.
10:30You're doing very good, but you can see where he's going.
10:34Every time you go, he's trying to go underneath.
10:35You understand?
10:37Sometimes move in and train it and then pull back.
10:38You understand?
10:39Everything he's doing, that's his whole defense, is just to drop down.
10:42But keep roughing him up, okay?
10:43Watch your hands, though.
10:44You're waiting too long.
10:44All right.
10:45You can't wait that long for us.
10:46We don't have that long.
10:47All right.
10:48You gotta fix that belt, guys.
10:49He's throwing that long thing, and you keep it back.
10:50Go up under that shit.
10:51Get out.
10:52Action from round one.
10:53Watch the right hand of Budridge.
10:54Oh, that's an overhand right, and the shot that you don't see, the ones that hurt shit,
11:10Corey Sprinkz didn't see this coming.
11:12Not at all.
11:13And you know what?
11:14It's very simple.
11:15If he can't withstand those right hands, he has no chance to win.
11:20That is a real bottom line.
11:23He's got a good man of Stewart in the corner of Bundrich's sight.
11:26Keep roughing him up.
11:27Come on, man.
11:28Let's go.
11:29Time in.
11:30Let's go.
11:31Well, we know Emmanuel is an offensive coach, and I don't think Thomas Hurd's ever
11:36threw a right hand right quite like the one Budridge did.
11:39Budridge doesn't throw straight punches, but he gets there.
11:43Work to the left hand.
11:44No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
11:46And this is Spinks just grabbing on.
11:49Hey, you gotta stop holding on.
11:51You gotta stop holding on.
11:52All right?
11:53Good job by Roy Corona.
11:55Yup.
11:56Because that was all on Spinks, not on Bundrich.
12:01Look at Bundrich's eyes.
12:02The dog is ready to bark.
12:03All the way back.
12:04All the way back.
12:05No, no, no, no, no, no.
12:17Spinks extremely awkward.
12:18Stop, stop.
12:19And again, clutching.
12:20Look you all the way back.
12:21Let's go.
12:22Well, I think Barry, in the first round at some point you used the one ugly.
12:27We're getting it. We're getting it.
12:31Listen to my commands, gentlemen.
12:33Let's go.
12:41This is pretty much a replay of the first fight.
12:45Work, gentlemen.
12:47Especially with this stuff.
12:49Reaching, holding, stretching.
12:51Well, Corey Spinks' problem is very simple.
12:55He's had 45 career fights. He's had 11 KOs.
12:57So what is he supposed to do?
12:59He's not a puncher. He's never been a puncher.
13:01Yeah, and you made the point.
13:03If he can't jab, he can't win.
13:05Yeah. Not that much left.
13:07If you can't knock the guy out, he can't jab.
13:09There was a decent jab.
13:15Your hands are free, gentlemen. Work.
13:17Let go of him. Let go of him.
13:19I will say, for Corey Spinks, and he showed it on Showbox with DeAndre Lattimore.
13:27He has a lot of heart.
13:29Always did.
13:31And rugs of the family.
13:35His legs at this point, that's another issue.
13:37And they still don't look good.
13:39That was a good body shot by Spinks.
13:45And look who's making the fight.
13:53There's real conservative action by Corey Spinks.
13:56Stop!
13:57Take a step back. Both feet all the way back. All the way back.
13:59Well, Corey Spinks is a veteran, if nothing else, and he realizes,
14:03my only chance is to make this fight.
14:05My hands are free.
14:07And land something big.
14:09He may get knocked out doing it, but he's trying to win.
14:11That's what he told us.
14:13Good body work here toward the end of the second round.
14:15Look out there, guys.
14:17You're gonna stop with the bell.
14:19Stop!
14:21Take a step back.
14:23Hey, hey.
14:25Last time. Last time.
14:27Last time.
14:28Last time.
14:36Well, earlier tonight, we had a look at Antonio Orozco.
14:39He was undefeated in 14 fights coming in here against Albert Cruz with 10 knockouts.
14:43Well, after three rounds tonight, make it 11 knockouts.
14:47The guy was unstoppable.
14:49Throws nothing but combinations.
14:50Good defensive fighter.
14:51This guy definitely falls into that category of bright, young prospect.
14:55Dr. Stopped the fight at the end of the third round.
14:58Too much of a beating for Albert Cruz Jr.
15:01Remember the name.
15:02Antonio Orozco.
15:03You're gonna be hearing it in the Welderweight division.
15:05I have an idea for some time to come.
15:06Let's go.
15:07Let's go.
15:08Let's go.
15:09Let's go.
15:10Let's go.
15:11Let's go.
15:16Let's go.
15:17Let's go.
15:21Stop.
15:23Time.
15:24Come on, gentlemen.
15:25Let's go.
15:26Time in.
15:27gentlemen let's go time in the record run has his hands full in this fight
15:44how much damage can do with that right hand that's what it's coming down because
15:48he got out landed and ran around to spin 14 connect to 12.
15:53started working the body really well i thought trying to do it again here
16:04i think the right approach for spinks right now would be to be aggressive to land it a couple
16:09shots and then grab and you might say well why would he grab against the stronger bundridge but
16:13that way he's not gonna get hit with any counter right hand
16:15starting to fight the fight he needs to fight
16:22swelling around the right eye of space
16:32where's the rest of the left hand is short
16:38remember yesterday barry bundridge could tell us that he might have a surprise this thing to try to box a little bit more
16:44I remember yesterday Barry Bundrich did tell us that he might have a surprise for Spinks
16:55trying to box a little bit more.
16:57The question is, can he do that effectively?
17:00Because when they go from first the first round, which he did not.
17:03Step back.
17:03All the way back.
17:04This best round so far.
17:05Early in this fight.
17:14Spinks is getting a little better rhythm.
17:22Just missed.
17:23Wow.
17:25That was an unprotected chin there, I'll tell you that.
17:27It was.
17:34I don't like the balance of Corey Spinks.
17:36I don't think he has his legs back after that knockdown.
17:39Well, I agree with you.
17:40He's very wide stance.
17:42And he also sends you to drop both hands.
17:58No, no, no.
17:59Get your back.
18:00We're done there.
18:01Your hands are free, gentlemen.
18:07Stop.
18:07Stop.
18:08Take a step back.
18:08All the way back.
18:09Both guys very wide.
18:12You're going to stop at the bell, gentlemen.
18:20Work, gentlemen.
18:24No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
18:26Come in.
18:27There you go.
18:33You won that round, okay?
18:34Turn down.
18:35Turn down.
18:36No, no, no.
18:36No, no.
18:37No, kick it down.
18:37No, kick your ass.
18:38Put your arms down.
18:39Let's get out of the rest.
18:40That's stress on you.
18:41Let your arms rest here, okay?
18:42You won that round.
18:43You've got to talk to yourself.
18:45Now, before, when he was going down so much, he's not doing it that much.
18:48Now, he's getting tired.
18:49You understand?
18:49Okay.
18:50Now, you've got to get your second win.
18:51That's when champions fight while they're tired.
18:53Okay.
18:53You don't have to act if you're not falling off with a fucking face.
18:56Thank you for listening.
18:56Okay.
18:57So, get your hands together.
18:58Punch short after punch.
18:59You've won that round.
19:00Okay?
19:01Clean punches.
19:01The coach you're using, your damn jab.
19:04The jab is keeping him off balance.
19:05The man has no legs at all.
19:07You keep him out there when he's falling in the south and you beat him.
19:10You understand?
19:10And now that he's getting tired, you're maybe going to start hitting him with the straight
19:13right-hand lead.
19:14Because he's not dunking that fast so much anymore, okay?
19:20Oscar Delahue in the crowd here.
19:22You saw him a little bit earlier.
19:23Congratulations, Gary Russell Jr.
19:25Do as they say.
19:26Let's go.
19:27Team fight.
19:27It looks good.
19:28It looks clean.
19:29When does he not look good?
19:30Yeah, that's true.
19:31Golf will do that for you, right?
19:32Yeah, that's right.
19:34Boy, I love the manual stewards in between rounds.
19:37I mean, that's one of the reasons he's one of the great trainers of his generation.
19:42Everything he said.
19:42He saw the sphinx to never legs.
19:44He wants punches to use more right-hand leads.
19:46All right on target.
19:52He should be a television company.
19:53Yeah.
19:54Well, I tell you, he used some language there in between rounds that I haven't heard him
19:57use as a television company.
19:58That's very true.
19:59Now let's see if Bundridge listens to Manuel Stewart.
20:14Watch your hands, guys.
20:15Watch your hands.
20:16Watch your hands.
20:16I'm going to throw the straight right hand.
20:17Yeah, I'd like to see a little more initiative from Bundridge.
20:23Power shots.
20:24He's thrown more.
20:25He's landed more.
20:2648% is a very high rate of connect.
20:28Mostly it's been that right hand.
20:29But I kind of feel like he's letting sphinx dictate the pace at this moment.
20:34Yeah.
20:35I would think most of that was in the first round.
20:36Accidental headbutt.
20:37Accidental headbutt.
20:37Bungridge is cut, Barry.
20:44Right on.
20:47Word, guys.
20:48Word, guys.
20:48Stop.
20:49Take a step back.
20:49All the way.
20:50All the way.
20:50All the way.
20:50All the way.
20:51It's hard to tell exactly where it is.
20:53I did hear Corona say accidental headbutt.
20:56Corona said get off his legs, and he did, and he left himself unprotected.
21:14And he got hit with two strong shots.
21:16Those were big shots, Barry, and you don't expect a veteran like Corey Spinks to make a mistake
21:22like that, but he did.
21:23First thing that a fighter learns, protect yourself at all times.
21:30Spinks did not.
21:34He was beaten with that right hand.
21:36It's changing the right hand.
21:37The fighter just got down.
21:38All the way back.
21:39Spinks did.
21:43Let's go, man.
21:49Let's go.
21:49Let's go.
21:51He's working.
21:52You just get the impression that Corey Spinks is asking himself to do something he really
22:00has never done and perhaps can't do.
22:04Stop.
22:06Take a step back.
22:07No, no, no, no, no, no.
22:07Let's go.
22:09Let's go.
22:10Let's go.
22:10Put your hands up for him.
22:12Get a stop at the bell, gentlemen.
22:20Work out of there.
22:21Work out.
22:22Look over.
22:23Protect yourself, Corey.
22:25Time.
22:26All right.
22:38Listen, Corey, you're doing good.
22:40Put all that stuff together, man.
22:42That's what you got to do.
22:43Give me another water.
22:45Hurry up.
22:46Leave this right here.
22:46Give me another water.
22:48To Corey.
22:50You got to stop waiting on this kid.
22:51He can't fight.
22:53He can't fight you if you fight him.
22:55I'm telling you.
22:55He's looking for you.
22:56Action from round four.
22:59And you're going to see the Spinks doubles over with his hands down just like Barry described
23:04it.
23:04And that's a rookie mistake.
23:07Bundrich took advantage of that combination alone probably won Bundrich round four.
23:12Yeah, something you don't see very much at all.
23:15Good job.
23:16Good job.
23:17Let's keep it clean, gentlemen.
23:18Let's go to work.
23:46I think your point is well taken about Spinks.
23:56I mean, he's almost like he wants to brawl in, even though that's not what's gotten him
24:02this far.
24:02Gentlemen, your hands are there.
24:03Let's go.
24:05Stop!
24:06It's as if he can't, he realizes he can't be the old Corey Spinks.
24:11Doesn't have the legs, doesn't have the balance.
24:15This was a guy who outboxed Zab Judah the time he beat him.
24:18I mean, he was a beautiful boxer.
24:20Not the most exciting fighter in the world, that's for sure, in his prime.
24:24A lot more movement than now.
24:25Hands are free, gentlemen.
24:26You saw that with the Lattimore fight on Showbox two years ago.
24:34That's when Corey Spinks became a flat-footed fighter.
24:37A lot more exciting, but perhaps less effective.
24:39Yeah.
24:41Let go, Spinks.
24:43That's it.
24:43Work.
24:47A lot of touching and grabbing in this fight.
24:49All the way back, all the way back, all the way back.
24:56It's not really taking advantage of me, you know, he's close.
25:01He's not what you call a pretty fighter.
25:03No, he's not.
25:04He was an effective fighter in the first round, but really, since then,
25:08he's had a seven-flow.
25:13Yes!
25:13The Golden work, gentlemen.
25:25The one thing, when I Spinks tried to cry, Bundridge,
25:29it is smothering some of Bundridge's punches.
25:32No wrestling, no wrestling.
25:40The Golden Bundridge.
25:41I don't know if Bundridge has slowed down a little bit,
25:45but punch output is the one it was.
25:49Heavy-armed fighters very often have that problem.
25:52Yeah.
25:54Work out of there, guys.
26:08You guys, just stop for the belt.
26:09Work out of there, guys.
26:09Stop!
26:10Take a step back.
26:11Down to the end of round number five.
26:15Hard round to judge.
26:17Yes, I agree.
26:18You got to let your hands go.
26:27You're still waiting around.
26:27You're still waiting on this guy.
26:28That's what you're looking for.
26:29You're looking good over here.
26:34Yeah, yeah.
26:35Stop waiting on him.
26:36Stop waiting.
26:37Please.
26:37You got to let your hands go.
26:37You're still waiting around.
26:38Stop waiting on this guy.
26:39That's what you're looking for.
26:39This guy's looking good over here.
26:40Yeah, yeah.
26:41Cory, stop waiting on him.
26:42Stop waiting on him.
26:42Please.
26:43Stop waiting on this guy.
26:45That's what you're looking for.
26:46You're looking good over here.
26:47Yeah, yeah.
26:48Stop waiting.
26:49Stop waiting.
26:50Freeze.
26:51Get a shot.
26:51You got to make him a man smile.
26:54All right?
26:55Come on, baby.
26:58Stumbling and fumbling around like a goddamn drum.
27:01Take the goddamn fight.
27:02It was short punches, okay?
27:03Then you got to punch with short powers, guys.
27:10You're letting the man get his confidence up.
27:12Step back.
27:13My piece.
27:14Step back.
27:15Step back.
27:16Let's go.
27:17Let's go.
27:20Let's go.
27:21Sounded like a little bit of frustration,
27:23Emmanuel Stewart's voice, didn't it?
27:25I think so.
27:26Well, this fight's already gone longer
27:27than the first fight is.
27:29Into the sixth round.
27:32Given what happened in the first round,
27:34that's somewhat of a surprise.
27:35Let's go.
27:42Bundrich has not been able to replicate
27:44that overhand right.
27:45He has not.
27:46Work, guys.
27:47Hands are free.
27:47Let's go.
27:48Let's work.
27:48Come on.
27:49Stewart wants him to throw it as a lead punch,
27:51and he's not doing it.
27:57And Manny Stewart also saying,
27:59I mean, you're giving him confidence,
28:00and I think there's something to that.
28:05Anthony Hamm trains for Spinks.
28:07He said, boy, for a fighter who's a veteran like Spinks,
28:10he soaked up everything Anthony Hamm taught him.
28:12We know Spinks for years was with Kevin Cunningham,
28:15and then very briefly with Buddy McGirt.
28:19Yeah, he said his partying days are behind him.
28:21He's moved.
28:23He and his family to Florida.
28:24Step back.
28:25Both of you.
28:25Both of you.
28:26Both of you.
28:26He said he's got no excuses in this fight.
28:28And he is being far more active than he was in the last fight.
28:35Let's go.
28:36Let's work.
28:39Let's go.
28:42Well, I guess there are a lot of ways
28:43to become a champion or a contender, Barry.
28:45And when you watch Lara fight, and then you see Bundridge,
28:48you know, they're not that far apart in the ratings.
28:51You used the word, I think, queen punching from Lara,
28:53shot punching.
28:55You don't get that from Bundridge, yet physically,
28:56he's very, very strong for the weight.
29:01Well, that's the thing with him.
29:02There's always that chance.
29:13Spinks right into his left hand.
29:15There's a right, chopping right hand.
29:17That's the punch that's been missing since the first round.
29:20And as a veteran is wanting to do,
29:28Spinks has been smart
29:29from grabbing on the inside
29:31when he thinks he's in trouble.
29:32No, no, no, no, no, no, stop, stop.
29:43Take a step back, all the way back.
29:44There you go.
29:45It's a fair question to ask, Barry.
29:48Do you think Bundridge is keeping Sphinx in the fight in a way?
29:51I do, actually.
29:53That's what Manny Stewart indicated.
29:55And yes, I do.
29:56And I think if he allows Sphinx
29:58to this kind of steal rounds here,
30:00they're just outpouring him.
30:03Despite that first round being a 10-8 run,
30:06I think this could be a close run.
30:07Yeah.
30:09You're going to stop at the bell, gentlemen.
30:12Final five seconds of round six.
30:14And we are at the halfway mark
30:38in this IBF title fight.
30:40Total punches landed, boys.
30:41Pretty close.
30:42Even though Bundridge is a little busier,
30:43but only a nine-punch lead,
30:45you see the jabs are almost identical.
30:48Body punching, that's where Sphinx
30:50has had an advantage,
30:51and that's not what I think
30:52we would have thought going in.
31:00He's getting tired, okay?
31:01So judgment is off.
31:02You'll catch him with those little big shots.
31:04Just keep swinging him at him.
31:05Sit around and walk around the way to him, all right?
31:06Let's get in, let's get out.
31:08All right?
31:09Let's get in, let's get out.
31:11Puppies.
31:12Puppies.
31:14Let's keep it clean, gentlemen.
31:17Go.
31:19This is round seven.
31:21They want Spinks to get in and get out.
31:25And don't get hit in between.
31:27Simple game, right?
31:28Yeah.
31:35Anytime.
31:35Madwell's through the right hand,
31:37knocks Spinks down and through the road.
31:39Five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten.
31:47Come to now.
31:47Hold it here.
31:48Hands up.
31:50He's in trouble.
31:50Yeah.
31:51Let's go.
31:52It was the overhand right again, Barry.
31:54Yeah, and there it is again.
31:55No, no, no, no, no.
31:56Stop, stop it.
31:58Take a step back.
31:59All the way back.
31:59Go, get your legs.
32:01Spinks in big trouble here.
32:03And Bunger just trying to close the deal.
32:05Comes with an uppercut.
32:07Spinks in big trouble.
32:08Right hand drops him.
32:09Six, seven, eight, nine, ten.
32:19Come in, you want to fight?
32:20We have to.
32:21Come in, you have to.
32:22Want to continue?
32:23Want to continue.
32:24Look into his corner.
32:26He doesn't have much left.
32:27And a long way to go.
32:31And Bunger's just trying to close the deal.
32:33And not going to say it's a knockdown.
32:35Unfortunately for Corey Spinks, Barry,
32:39at this point, time is not going to really help him.
32:42His legs are gone.
32:43Yeah.
32:44Go, quick!
32:45Go, quick!
32:48And Spinks about to go again.
32:49It won't take much at all.
32:51Bunger just has to give himself enough room to punt.
32:53Yeah.
32:55Spinks in retreat.
32:56Work through.
32:57Bunger's trying to push him off him.
32:59Comes with the right hand again.
33:01Spinks in serious trouble.
33:03That was low.
33:05Now he's on corner.
33:09Wild right hand.
33:09That was not a knockdown.
33:12If Spinks were a little mentally stronger right now.
33:14Yes, sir.
33:15All right.
33:15He says he wants to continue.
33:16I think he might have taken a knee after that low blow
33:18and tried to build that moment.
33:20That was his chance to escape.
33:23Still a ways to go inside of him.
33:25Go, push him down.
33:26Go, push him down.
33:27Drop this.
33:28All the way back.
33:29All the way back.
33:30Spinks is just all done dancing here.
33:33Bunger's mouth open.
33:34He's a little tired.
33:35Spinks hits him with the right hand.
33:37And that was low.
33:38Two low blows.
33:42Bunger did not say anything about that, though.
33:44Still a ways to go.
33:4535 seconds.
33:46Another combination from Bunger.
33:48Chases Spinks and runs the ring.
33:50And finally, that's it.
33:52It's over.
33:52It's over.
33:52A beaten fighter.
34:00Yeah.
34:00And there's the one.
34:01There's a look at Arislane.
34:17He gives you a thumbs up because I'm sure he's saying, you know what, I can beat this guy.
34:27Well, Buttigieg did what he had to do.
34:31Barry, he wasn't pretty, he wasn't smooth, that's not him.
34:37He did do what he does, he's a very strong fighter, and Spinks didn't have legs, really,
34:44balance or legs from that first round on, and it took a while, but Buttigieg took care
34:48of business.
34:49He moves on.
34:50At age 39, he sort of has a new life.
34:52Yeah, and for Spinks, I think just about the opposite.
34:56You might have seen in the last vlog, it's his wife.
35:02Tahubi gives a lot of credit for just getting his act straightened out.
35:05I love you, Ma.
35:09Much like the first fight with Buttigieg and Spinks.
35:12This was physically drooling, dirty at times.
35:17You see some of the fouling.
35:18You see how Spinks was trying to grab a lot, very low on Buttigieg.
35:22Buttigieg's trying to fight him off.
35:24Ray Corona earned every penny.
35:28Headlock there, both fighters, and all that really just weakened Spinks further.
35:34I mentioned Spinks didn't have legs.
35:36Well, look at that.
35:37That was where he dropped his hands.
35:38Yeah, that was a big mistake by Corey Spinks, and all that rough stuff did not help Corey
35:44Spinks' legs in this fight.
35:45No, it did not, man.
35:47Time, I think, to really give some serious consideration to what happens next for Corey Spinks.
35:53I'm with you.
35:55He doesn't seem championship-caliber anymore, and if that's the case, why go on?
36:00No, don't worry.
36:01Two knockdowns in round six, or in round seven.
36:06First one, the overhand right.
36:09Same punch that knocks Spinks down in the first round.
36:11Here's the second one.
36:13Now with a right hand, almost the right hook, which really an orthodox fighter can't possibly throw,
36:18but Bundrich is not very orthodox.
36:20That was the same punch that dropped him in the first round.
36:22Look at that punch.
36:23That's a wide shot.
36:24You wouldn't teach anybody to fight like that.
36:27But with Spinks backtracking, Bundrich had all the time, all the distance,
36:32and at this point, Corona could have stopped it right here.
36:36Corey Spinks showed a lot of heart, Barry.
36:38Not surprising.
36:40Oh, he definitely did.
36:42You know, but every fighter, I guess, wants to go out on a shield,
36:45and if that's the case, certainly Corey Spinks did do that tonight.
36:49But give it up for Bundrich.
36:51I mean, he did what he had to do.
36:53Finished the fight the way he started it.
36:55Just what it looked like Corey Spinks might be getting himself back into the fight.
36:59Bundrich put an end to it.
37:02Corey Spinks' face there.
37:04Like, are you kidding me?
37:05He looked at Corona.
37:06You're not calling anything with those low blows?
37:08This fight was on its way to being over at that point,
37:12and Corona did Spinks no favors.
37:15And right here, Corey Spinks can't even stand up anymore,
37:17and that's why the fight was stopped.
37:18It wasn't even a punch.
37:20Maybe a right hand to the shoulder there the last shot.
37:22Nothing clean.
37:23All right, let's go to the center of the ring.
37:25Jake Gutierrez.
37:26He'll make an official, Jake.
37:27Ladies and gentlemen, referee Ray Corona stops this contest at 2 minutes 32 seconds of round number 7.
37:39The winner by knockout victory and still IBF junior middleweight champion of the world,
37:45the Iron Man Cornelius Canine.
37:50But there is the familiar bark from Cornelius Canine, appropriately.
37:59Buttridge as he retains his share of the 154-pound championship.
38:04Here are the final show stats in jabs.
38:07He out-jabbed him, at least in terms of number, not in terms of connects,
38:10but power punches, no contest.
38:1366 of 141 landed for Bundridge.
38:1640 of 115 higher connect percentage for Bundridge.
38:19More punches landed for Bundridge.
38:21Total punches, higher connect percentage, more punches.
38:24That pretty much was the story of the fight.
38:26Spinks did land more punches to the body, but four knockdowns in this fight.
38:30There was simply no question about it.
38:33But it did look for a couple of rounds, at least, as though Spinks might be getting his footing,
38:37might be getting himself back to where he could be competitive in this fight.
38:40But Bundridge, once he got back to doing what he had started out doing,
38:43at the urging of Emmanuel Stewart, he got things corrected in a big hurry,
38:48and this fight truly was over in the seventh round.
38:52You know, Steve, there's that old boxing adage, or not boxing adage,
38:55but an adage that sports in general dance with what brung you.
38:58And what brung him in the first round was that wild right hand,
39:00and that's what brung him in the seventh round, too.
39:02Exactly right.
39:03And, you know, to take that a step further, Barry,
39:06rematches very often bring a different script.
39:08This was not a different script from the first fight.
39:10It was pretty much a continuation of the fight from two years ago, unfortunately, for Corey Spinks.
39:15So now he starts to call out Canelo Alvarez.
39:17Everybody wants a piece of Alvarez, it seems.
39:20But what do you think his chances would be?
39:22Well, style-wise, Canelo's a smoother fighter, that's for sure.
39:27Canelo's an aggressive fighter.
39:29I think it would be a good fight because Bundridge is going to make for good fights.
39:33He's unorthodox, but he's generally pretty aggressive.
39:35So any of the top 54-pounders Bundridge would fit in with.
39:39I think so, and I don't think Lara hurt himself at all tonight either.
39:41No, Lara, that's for sure.
39:43With Lara, you get almost the polar opposite of Bundridge.
39:46He's a smooth guy, a good boxer.
39:48He landed that left hand again and again.
39:50Barry, while I have a moment, just want to do some in-house business here.
39:54Chris LeGentle, who has been a part of Showtime Sports and specifically Showbox for a couple years now.
40:00An absolutely wonderful young publicist.
40:02He's moving on.
40:03We just want to take the chance to say how happy we were to work with him.
40:07It was a privilege and an honor.
40:08I wish him all the luck, and I hope he comes back and says hello to us.
40:11Yeah, this is a real family, the Showtime family.
40:13I'm a newcomer to it, too.
40:14But I'll tell you, we lose a really popular and very effective family member in Chris LeGentle tonight, too.
40:19So, so long, Chris.
40:21Wish you well.
40:22And in the meantime, let's take a look back on what we saw tonight.
40:25And what we saw was a couple of 154-pounders really step up.
40:31Lara, brilliant in his win.
40:33No doubt, Larry.
40:34Larry didn't hurt his chances to land his prize in the Canelo sweepstakes.
40:39Or maybe he did.
40:40Maybe he looked too good and they're not going to want to fight him.
40:42Does anybody really want to fight this guy?
40:45I'm not so sure, to tell you the truth.
40:47And we talked about Gary Russell Jr., what a bright prospect he is.
40:50No question about it.
40:51A knockout at 141 in the third round against the hapless Christopher Perez.
40:56Well, we talked about Gary Russell Jr. moving up yesterday.
40:59He gave us the name of the fighter he wants to move up against.
41:02And really soon, Juan Manuel Lopez.
41:05And then our main event.
41:07And Corey speaks really not much of a match tonight for Cornelius K9 Bundrich.
41:12Knocked out in the first round.
41:14And then three more in round number seven.
41:16Well, it was really a repeat of the first fight.
41:19We know now that he can beat Corey Spinks.
41:21But Bundrich is 39 years old.
41:22He doesn't have time to waste Barry.
41:24The division is hot.
41:25He wants another big fight now.
