Transcript
00:00Hello, I'm Nandi Howard, Vice President of Content for Essence Magazine, and we are getting ready for the 2025 Met Gala.
00:11Come on.
00:15So my look is Tia Adeola, and I feel like it was important for me to wear a Black designer because, obviously the theme, but you do not see that representation a lot.
00:27So I want to make sure that as I'm on the carpet, I'm showcasing that, like, Black women can design, like, dandyism, especially because women were so intricate in that specific genre.
00:39And then my shoes are Amina Mwadi.
00:41A lot of my accessories and things are, like, artie things at all.
00:47It's Met Monday.
00:48My name is Corey Jarvis, here as the head of social for Essence.
00:51Come get ready with me.
00:52It's super important for Black creatives to attend the Met Gala simply just for representation.
01:00For a long time, the Met did not look like us.
01:03So for this year to be centered around Black dandyism, Black designers, Black tailoring, when you put capital, commerce, and fashion at the forefront of everything, culture lives there.
01:14So I am wearing blessings, armor, and custom refresh, and go somewhere within Black people and go, that's the accessories.
01:23So I'm looking forward to seeing everybody at their best.
01:26So that's our POV, making everybody feel their best, look their best, and feel like a home place.
