00:00I loved Essence for the self-care aspects.
00:03That was really strong for me because for women that looked like me,
00:07that wasn't really much of a conversation outside of get good grades, go to work, go to school.
00:12And Essence was about self-love, self-care, and that very natural beauty.
00:18That's what I loved about it.
00:19The women were very attainable, you know, especially when they had models on the cover.
00:25And so there was a reality there.
00:28You saw all of our hair, all of our kinks, our coils.
00:31You saw our skin tones, our different textures, things of that nature.
00:34So I'm really grateful for that space because it's a refuge for us.
00:39It's a place where we can have those conversations.
00:41And then additionally, I do really love the financial aspects that Essence provides too.
00:45Talking about entrepreneurship is really, really important.
00:48And those are things that inspire me to move around how I move today.
