00:00My name is Sal Piasanti. I catch casino cheaters. Let's answer your questions from the internet.
00:05This is casino cheating support.
00:12Absurd. Name. 5231. Do you think any casinos rig the deck in Blackjack using the shuffle machine?
00:20Yes, back in the old days when the mob read things, casinos did cheat.
00:24For example, one way the mob would cheat is a cooler.
00:26In Blackjack, 10 Jack, Queen, Kings are 10. So here's a 10, 10, 8, 10, 10, 9, 4, Ace, 5, 2, 3, 6, 7.
00:37Set these cards up in this order and do it four times.
00:40When you have the cards set up in this particular order, no matter how I deal these cards out, you make a big bet.
00:46Look at that. You have a 14. You have a 19. I have a 20. You can't win. That's how the mob used to cheat.
00:52Today, casinos don't need to cheat. They have math on their side.
00:56All of these games are mathematically designed for the casinos to win.
01:01You can get lucky. You can win.
01:03But if you're winning consistently over time, there's something wrong.
01:06And that's what the casinos have to figure out.
01:08And if they can't figure it out, then they call me.
01:11Turbulent Maximum 596 asks,
01:14Has anyone experienced dealers cheating?
01:17Absolutely. There are many ways dealers could cheat.
01:19One simple way a dealer could cheat is here.
01:21You make a bet, let's say $75.
01:23So when I pay you, I should just size into you and pay you $75.
01:28But if you're my partner and no one's looking, I really gave you $100 there.
01:32A more sophisticated way a dealer could cheat would be something like this.
01:36You're working with me. You're my partner.
01:37You make a bet of $25.
01:39But when you win, I come out and I pay you.
01:42And it looks like I just paid you $25.
01:44Where in reality, I didn't.
01:46I used a chip cup.
01:48This is the Trojan horse of chips.
01:50This stack right here looks like a stack of five.
01:53It's not.
01:54It's a hollow stack of chips.
01:56Where inside it, I conceal higher denomination chips.
02:01So even though it looks like I'm giving you a stack of $5,
02:05I'm not.
02:06I'm giving you $400.
02:07Another way a dealer could cheat is the second deal.
02:10For example, if I know this nine of spades is on top and I want to save that,
02:15when I deal this card's out, I'm going to keep that nine right there.
02:19But I would do it on the pitch.
02:22As I push the top card over, the second card is exposed right there.
02:26And I'm taking it right from the upper right corner.
02:29And I pull the top card back.
02:30If I did it face up, it would look like this.
02:34And that card stays on the top.
02:36As a matter of fact, there's an old joke.
02:37The dealer was so crooked, the top card was getting dusty.
02:40NoobSlayers wants to know,
02:42How do you guys check if the dice is loaded?
02:45Well, if you look at a casino die, these dice are made to perfection.
02:49However, when the crooked dice maker makes these dice,
02:52he drills certain spots deeper and puts a heavy metallic alloy into it,
02:58thus making certain sides heavier.
03:00How do we check for that?
03:01This is a balancer.
03:02If I take a regular casino die, and I put it right here, and I spin it, watch how that die acts.
03:10That's a regular die.
03:11Now, let's put this die into it, which is the loaded die, and let's see how that one acts.
03:16And you're going to see it's not balanced.
03:18This is called a dead ace.
03:19If you roll this die on the table, more than percentage dictates, a one will come up on this die.
03:25I can roll this die a hundred, there's a one.
03:28I can keep rolling it.
03:30There's a four.
03:31There's another one.
03:32A one will come up more often.
03:34But it's not guaranteed.
03:35When you're going to put crooked dice into a casino, you need a guarantee.
03:40So let me show you how that would happen.
03:41If you look at these dice, they look the same.
03:43Look at the one, you'll see the casino name.
03:45And if we roll these dice, there's a hard eight, there's a five, with a one and a four.
03:50But you know what you're not seeing?
03:52A seven.
03:53These dice cannot make a seven.
03:55On the bottom of that four, it should be a three.
03:57It's another four.
03:58And the bottom of that five should be a two.
04:01It's another five.
04:02There are only one four or five on these dice.
04:04These dice cannot make a seven.
04:06And you will win, guaranteed.
04:08That is the reason why craps tables have mirrors around it.
04:12So the boss could look into the mirror and see the opposite sides.
04:16So now you're probably wondering, how do the cheaters switch the dice?
04:19How do you get the dice into the game?
04:21I'll bring in the green dice.
04:22So let's suppose I want to switch the green dice for the red dice.
04:26When it's my turn to shoot, as I reach for the red dice, I switch them for the green.
04:31It's called a palm switch.
04:33Out of all the cheating moves, that is the hardest one to do.
04:36But now watch how that looks with the same color dice.
04:38I cannot tell you the last time I've ever heard of crooked dice being used and getting
04:44caught.
04:45But I do know they're being made.
04:47And they're not made for entertainment purposes.
04:49Peer Mail wants to know, what is it like working security at a casino?
04:54You're looking for things out of the norm.
04:56For example, a dealer should never turn off a game.
04:59If a dealer ever turns off a game to look at me, the only reason that dealer is looking
05:04at me is to see if I'm looking at them.
05:06And usually, that means that they're about to do something.
05:10Now, when you're a dealer, you're looking for the players to cheat.
05:12Some of the signs that you're looking for is distractions, trying to make your dealer
05:16look elsewhere, where you're going to hit them on the other side of the table.
05:20Or when they start putting their hands too close to their bet.
05:23That means they're about to pinch a bet or press a bet.
05:25If they win the bet, they're going to add to it.
05:27If they lose the bet, they're going to pull some back.
05:29Or when hands leave the table.
05:31Those cards always have to stay in view.
05:33When these cards leave the table, the player can be switching cards, can be marking cards.
05:37Definitely up to no good.
05:41Paypaloo23 wants to know, can somebody teach me how to count cards?
05:44I'm ready now.
05:45Counting cards is very, very simple.
05:48Each card is assigned a value.
05:50Two, three, four, five, sixes are assigned a value of plus one.
05:54Seven, eight, nines are zero.
05:56Tens and aces are minus one.
05:58If the dealer just dealt you these two cards, your count's minus two.
06:02Every time you see cards dealt, you just get an accumulative count, and that is the running count.
06:07However, all decision, whether it be betting, playing, or insurance, is done with the true count.
06:13What is the true count?
06:15It is the ratio of high cards versus low cards in each single deck that remain.
06:20As soon as the true count hits plus two, that means the cards now favor you.
06:25That means now it's time to increase your bet, not by a lot.
06:28The bigger the plus count, the more you increase your bet.
06:31So in a nutshell, card counting just means that you're keeping track of what's left.
06:36When there are a lot of high cards that are left to be played, now the cards favor you.
06:41When there are a lot of low cards to be played, now the cards favor the house.
06:44VasCoconut2609 asks, how magnetic dice are used to cheat in casinos?
06:51Well, magnetic dice are mostly used in private games.
06:54For the man, I believe it was Thailand, he had magnets implanted into his hands to cheat on the dice cups that were there for 40 years.
07:02But because he was going to travel, he was afraid that the magnets might get detected.
07:07He certainly had to take them out.
07:08So what are magnetic dice?
07:10If we look right here, you can see I have one die made where the spots were not filled in.
07:14And these dice right here are balanced.
07:16You can roll them, they're regular dice, until you put a magnet near them.
07:20When you put a magnet near them, then you can control it.
07:23So the cheaters would get a magnet under the table or on the sides of the table.
07:27One scam that happened was a magnet was actually concealed in the wheelchair of a player.
07:33And the battery that controlled the wheelchair also controlled the magnet.
07:38So when the shooter threw in the magnetic dice, the guy in the wheelchair just hit the button and they won a lot of money.
07:45Flying Dutch Madden wants to know, Casino, the movie, any truth to this?
07:50Was Las Vegas really different back when and really run by gangsters?
07:55Absolutely.
07:55The movie Casino does a great deal on showing you what it was like when the mob ran things.
08:00A common question asked to me today, Sal, do they really beat up players and cheaters the way they used to back then?
08:07Well, no, they don't.
08:08Today they'll prosecute you, they'll back you out.
08:10But when the mob was running things, yes, violence was the solution.
08:14And guess what?
08:15It was an effective solution.
08:17If you're a dealer that was cheating and you just saw some guy walk out with two busted hands,
08:21you're going to think twice before you steal from that person.
08:23Now, in the movie Casino, Robert De Niro is the casino manager and he's walking through the pit and he noticed a dealer lifting the whole card up.
08:31The player at another table will see that card and then signal it back to the person playing.
08:36Well, when De Niro saw that, they got the two players, they brought the person downstairs and they broke his hand with a hammer.
08:42When the mob ran casinos, they definitely did things a little differently.
08:46The people that they hired to watch the games were ex-cheats.
08:49They actually knew the moves.
08:51They knew what it looks like.
08:52They were more qualified to catch it than anybody else.
08:55Today, it's not that way.
08:57Let's see.
08:58Big Kuzzleswick.
08:59Could you actually pull off an Ocean 11 heist in real life?
09:02Theoretically, could it be possible?
09:04I don't think so personally.
09:05Well, you're wrong.
09:06Las Vegas is definitely iconic.
09:08The Las Vegas Strip, the mob, the Rat Pack.
09:11However, the gambling mecca of the world is Macau.
09:15It's a small island outside of Hong Kong and the gambling that goes on there is unreal.
09:20You'll see people betting $300,000, $400,000, a million dollars one hand.
09:25So what happened out there?
09:26They flew a high roller in.
09:27He was met at the airport with a limousine.
09:30They chauffeured him to the hotel.
09:31They had the managers outside waiting for him to greet him.
09:34They escorted him in.
09:35They brought him upstairs to a high-limit room on the 23rd floor.
09:39It was a private suite.
09:40They beat him for, let's just say, $25 million.
09:42And then when that player came back to the casino and said,
09:46Listen, I lost $25 million on your private VIP suite on the 23rd floor.
09:51The casino said, We don't have a private suite on the 23rd floor.
09:54These cheaters or these scamsters took a private suite,
09:59took all the furniture out of the suite and pushed it into a bedroom
10:03and set up a mock casino.
10:05They had phony surveillance cameras.
10:06They had phony supervisors with suits and badges.
10:09They had cocktail waitresses.
10:11And then they beat him.
10:12Now, I do happen to know the surveillance VP at the time.
10:15And I said, Is there any surveillance footage?
10:17And he said to me, Sal, what footage?
10:19All we have is people walking into the room.
10:21We know who they are and what they look like.
10:24But there's nothing of the actual play because it's a hotel room.
10:27That's Ocean's Eleven.
10:29Yank in Australia wants to know, marked cards, how often do you find them?
10:35Marked cards have been behind some of the biggest scams in the casino industry.
10:38A simple way of marking cards, they sell these pastes.
10:41It goes on the finger.
10:43The professionals, they'll keep it right on the table.
10:46And they'll just mark the cards like this.
10:48How?
10:48This little tin is concealed inside the chips.
10:52So, as you're playing, as you're dealing, I'm playing with my chips.
10:55Now, right here, I just got it on my hand.
10:58I want to mark these two cards, right?
10:59I don't know what they are.
11:00So, when I come over, I see it's a four and a six.
11:04I'm hitting the six right here.
11:05Now, I spin them, and I'm hitting the six again.
11:08Now, I transfer the cards, and now I'm hitting it dead center.
11:12Now, I'll be honest.
11:13If your eye is not trained to see that, good luck.
11:17I don't care how you mix these cards up.
11:18When these cards are on the table, from right here, I can't miss it.
11:22There's your four, and there's your six.
11:24A real simple and effective way of marking cards, a real fine emery board,
11:30where you can actually sand off some of the back.
11:32Let's suppose I want to get these aces.
11:34I can take these cards, file them down in the middle,
11:38and by filing down in the middle, what you're going to do
11:41is you're going to make these aces look like an hourglass.
11:45You can't see it, but they're shaped like an hourglass.
11:49So what's the big deal?
11:50So in theory, when I shuffle this deck right now,
11:52when I grab them in the middle, I'm coming in contact with every card except an ace.
11:57So now I should be able to pull those aces right out.
12:00These are called in strippers.
12:01Why in?
12:02Because the center is cut in.
12:04And believe me, there are a lot more ways of marking cards than what I just explained.
12:09Shuffleupagus wants to know,
12:11no way they have special cards like Austin Powers in real life.
12:15Now, these cards are marked from the back.
12:17Can I see it?
12:18No, I can't.
12:19However, I take these glasses off,
12:21I put these glasses on,
12:23and now it's a different ballgame.
12:25A blind person can see this.
12:26That's a three.
12:27There's your ace.
12:29There's your jack, and so on.
12:30And these can be read at great distances from across the table.
12:33The glasses are only for demonstration purposes.
12:36In real life, you buy the contacts,
12:38and then no one knows you have contacts on,
12:40and you can read these marks across the table.
12:42Civil aside, 359.
12:45How casinos prevent people from stealing or mass-producing chips?
12:49Well, this is money.
12:51So if you could counterfeit this the way you can counterfeit money,
12:54you're actually counterfeiting money.
12:56So the way casinos stop you from doing this
12:58is they put RFID into these chips.
13:00Now, when I was in Macau one time,
13:02I actually went to mainland China,
13:05and there was a place that actually made chips.
13:08He says,
13:08If you bring me any chip, I can make it.
13:10I asked the shaman,
13:11How do you get them back to me?
13:12Not that I'm going to do this,
13:13but I was curious for information,
13:15because this is what I do.
13:16I train.
13:16I want to know.
13:17He said,
13:18Poker sets.
13:19If customs was to open it up,
13:20the first chip will say World Poker Tour,
13:23but every chip after that
13:24will match the casino that you gave him.
13:26People collect chips.
13:27They'll go in, buy a chip, and take it home.
13:29Nobody's taking home $500 chips just for collection.
13:32Now, another way casinos catch this
13:34is by inventory.
13:35The casinos know exactly how many chips they have,
13:39and on a monthly inventory,
13:40if they realize they're over,
13:42they know they have counted for chips.
13:44LadyLala22,
13:46How did the MIT blackjack team
13:48ever make so much bank
13:49when card counting only gives you a 1% edge,
13:53according to Wikipedia?
13:54In this business, people lie.
13:57Math doesn't.
13:58If you have a small edge over the house
14:00dispersed over a long period of time,
14:03you're going to make the money.
14:04And with the big bankroll,
14:06you could do that.
14:07And with a lot of players,
14:08you could do that.
14:09Back in the early 90s,
14:11the MIT team,
14:12students formed a team
14:13to beat the casinos using card counting.
14:15They definitely became popular later on
14:17with the movie 21,
14:19the book Bringing Down the House.
14:20A team is a group of people,
14:22very skilled up blackjack,
14:24that will go into the casino,
14:26count,
14:27and as soon as the cards favor them,
14:30put the big money in.
14:30You would have, for example,
14:3220 blackjack tables.
14:34You put 20 players on each table.
14:36So you have one counter on each table
14:38betting very little.
14:39But as soon as those cards favor you,
14:42then you call in another team member
14:44called the BP,
14:46which means the big player.
14:47He's the person
14:48that's going to be betting the big chips.
14:50So as soon as those cards
14:52become favorable to the team,
14:54they will call that team member in.
14:55They do not want the casinos
14:57to know that they're working together.
14:59Next question, by Brandon White.
15:01Super random,
15:03but this drunk guy at the casino
15:04asked if I was using a thumper.
15:06What is that?
15:07It's an electronic signaling device
15:09used for players to communicate
15:10to each other.
15:11It's called a thumper
15:12because it's vibrating.
15:14When they push down on the transmitter,
15:16the receiver vibrates or thumps you
15:18with Morse code telling you what to do.
15:21So I might give you a signal
15:22to come over to the table.
15:24In poker,
15:25I might give you a signal
15:26to raise me.
15:27I might give you a signal to fold.
15:29A great example of a thumper
15:31being used
15:31is in the movie Casino
15:33where one player
15:34was signaling information
15:35to another player
15:36sitting at another table.
15:38Usually a thumper
15:39could be on the thigh
15:40and then you just push down
15:41on the button
15:41with your hand in your pocket.
15:42But it could be anywhere
15:44as long as it's concealed.
15:46I like Corn wants to know,
15:47question for the blackjack market.
15:49Does anyone know
15:50where I could find
15:51a perfect strategy computer?
15:53I'm looking to hit the house
15:54or maybe a few.
15:55They're not as easy to get
15:56as they used to be
15:58because they're highly illegal
15:59in a lot of jurisdictions.
16:01In some jurisdictions,
16:02they're not.
16:02However, in Vegas,
16:03if you get caught
16:04with one of these,
16:05you can be prosecuted.
16:06Now, what is a perfect strategy computer?
16:08It's a computer
16:09that keeps track
16:10of every card being dealt
16:12so it knows
16:13how many tens are left,
16:14how many aces are left,
16:15how many threes are left,
16:16and can play blackjack better
16:18than any brain.
16:19Now, a perfect strategy computer
16:21is normally worn in the shoe
16:23where there are four toe switches,
16:25one above the left toes,
16:27one below the left toes,
16:29one above the right toes,
16:30one below the right toes,
16:32and there are sign numbers,
16:34one, two, four, and eight.
16:36So when the dealer deals a six,
16:38you hit the two and a four key.
16:39If it's a nine,
16:40you hit one eight.
16:40So the computer
16:41is actually knowing
16:43every card that was dealt
16:44and it signals to you
16:46how to play the hand
16:47by a small vibrating device,
16:49normally worn
16:50on the heel of the shoe.
16:51The signaling normally
16:52is a small set
16:53of long and short vibrations.
16:55For example,
16:56two short vibrations
16:57might mean stand.
16:59One long vibration
17:01might mean hit.
17:03That might mean double down.
17:05Scrammer, double zero.
17:07Why is card counting illegal?
17:08They don't throw you off Jeopardy
17:10for remembering things well.
17:11Card counting is not illegal.
17:14You cannot get arrested,
17:15you cannot get detained
17:16for card counting,
17:18providing you're not using a device.
17:20But to use your brain,
17:22it is not illegal.
17:23When you count cards,
17:24you have the edge.
17:25And the casinos
17:26don't want you to have the edge,
17:27they want to keep the edge.
17:28In some casinos,
17:29they are not allowed
17:30to kick you out
17:31for card counting,
17:32but they are allowed
17:33to back you off blackjack
17:35and actually say to you,
17:36your skill is too good for us,
17:38you're allowed to play
17:38any other game
17:39in the casino floor,
17:40but you're not allowed
17:41to play blackjack.
17:41Amazing username.
17:43What are some clear signs
17:44that people are working together
17:46at the poker table?
17:48This is going to be
17:48very hard to detect.
17:49The reason being is
17:50when a person folds,
17:52you don't see what they have.
17:54Let's suppose we're
17:55playing poker right now.
17:56I look at my hand,
17:57I have a pair of kings.
17:58What does this person have?
17:59I have no idea.
18:00But my partner says,
18:01Sal, I got a pair of tens.
18:03So what am I going to do?
18:04I'm going to signal to her,
18:05get out.
18:06I'm going to tell her
18:06just like that.
18:07So she's going to fold.
18:08She's folding a pair of tens.
18:10She would never fold these.
18:11Why is she folding tens?
18:13Because I'm telling her,
18:14I got a pair of kings.
18:15If this player wins
18:17with a pair of aces,
18:18did he just get cheated?
18:20Absolutely he got cheated.
18:21He should have won her money.
18:22But the only problem is
18:23when this person folds,
18:25you don't get to see
18:26what they have.
18:26It goes right into the muck.
18:28There are many ways
18:28of signaling.
18:29You can do hand signals.
18:30Here, that's one pair.
18:32That's two pair.
18:33That's three of a kind.
18:35That's a straight.
18:36Two fingers on top
18:37is a flush.
18:38If I'm using chips,
18:39right there,
18:40that's an ace-king.
18:41That's an ace-king suited.
18:43Ace-queen,
18:44ace-queen suited.
18:45Ace-jack,
18:46ace-jack suited.
18:47If I go inside,
18:48that's a pair of aces,
18:49pair of kings,
18:50pair of queens.
18:51If I go like this,
18:52I just told her right now,
18:53I have a low pair.
18:54That's a medium pair.
18:56That's a high pair.
18:57There are a lot of ways
18:58players could work together.
18:59One way you could possibly
19:00help yourself
19:01to give yourself
19:02a better edge
19:02is simply pay attention.
19:05When you see people
19:05getting dealt,
19:06look at their eyes.
19:07If they're looking
19:08at other players' cards
19:09before they look at their hand,
19:10it's possible
19:11they're looking for signals.
19:12Poker is a social game.
19:13Players talking to each other.
19:14No one's paying attention
19:15to the cards.
19:16Next question,
19:17what's the wildest example
19:18of cheating
19:19you uncovered
19:19in all your years
19:21in casino security?
19:22One of the wildest examples
19:24of scams
19:25that I've ever heard of
19:26is something that happened
19:27in Atlantic City.
19:28They did a cooler.
19:29A cooler is a prearranged
19:31deck of cards
19:31that they're going to switch in.
19:33What happened was
19:34in Atlantic City,
19:35they needed everybody
19:36to be distracted
19:37or as the cheaters call it,
19:39the turn.
19:40Because everyone
19:40is turned away
19:41from where the move
19:42is happening.
19:42And this one person
19:44stands up
19:45at a blackjack table
19:46and yells,
19:48I think I could fly.
19:49And he rips open his shirt
19:50and there's a Superman T-shirt.
19:53So everybody right now
19:54is looking at this nut.
19:55But no one saw
19:56six decks of cards
19:58being switched in
19:59on the table next to them.
20:00At Japan Pulse,
20:02I wonder how many gamblers
20:03are able to successfully
20:04beat the system at casinos.
20:06Well, there are many.
20:07And usually,
20:09they all get caught
20:09because the casinos
20:10have books full of them.
20:11So when you walk
20:12into a casino
20:13and they recognize
20:13you're in the book,
20:14they know you were
20:15one of the ones
20:16that could beat the system
20:16and they back you out.
20:18They ask you to leave
20:19and you're not out
20:19to play anymore.
20:20The records of the casinos
20:21keep on players.
20:22In the old days,
20:23there were actually binders
20:24called the Griffin.
20:25Casinos actually subscribed
20:26to it and received binders.
20:28Today,
20:29it's a digital database.
20:30For example,
20:31Biometrica.
20:32When you get put
20:32into that system,
20:33all the casinos
20:34that subscribe
20:35has access to the database.
20:37So once you're put
20:38into that database,
20:39all the casinos
20:40could bring it up
20:41and with facial recognition
20:42could see if you're
20:43in that system.
20:44Natatha, 855.
20:46What's the biggest scam
20:47or threat
20:48that casino surveillance
20:49should be looking out
20:50for this year?
20:50The biggest scams
20:51that are going on today
20:52are with cameras,
20:54small cameras,
20:54recording cards,
20:55and transmitting information.
20:57For example,
20:57one casino in Singapore
20:59got hit for half a million dollars
21:01before they got caught.
21:02They were transmitting cards
21:03outside to another player
21:05who was putting them
21:06in an Excel spreadsheet
21:08and then transmitting information
21:10back to the player
21:11at the table
21:12on how and when to bet.
21:13And they beat the casino
21:14for half a million.
21:15Now,
21:16technology aside,
21:17the most common scam
21:19that happens in casinos
21:20are dealers
21:21dumping the game.
21:22The dealers
21:23working in collusion
21:24with the partner,
21:25paying losing bets.
21:26If you lose,
21:26they just pay you.
21:27There are thousands of cameras
21:28in some of these biggest joints,
21:30but a lot of the rooms
21:31are understaffed.
21:32The chances of them
21:33missing that move
21:34could be good.
21:36Illustrious soul.
21:37Like,
21:38do you know how many cameras
21:39are in casinos?
21:40If you talk about
21:41a small casino
21:42off the strip,
21:43there might be
21:43hundreds of cameras.
21:44You go into a major casino
21:46in Macau,
21:47there are thousands of cameras.
21:48Now, remember,
21:49a lot of surveillance rooms
21:50are understaffed.
21:51However,
21:52these cameras
21:52are high def,
21:54which means
21:54they could zoom in
21:55and zoom out
21:56after the fact.
21:57Before,
21:58when they only had VHS tapes,
22:00you had one week
22:00and then those tapes were gone.
22:02They were erased.
22:03Today,
22:03surveillance could record
22:04that footage
22:05and then look at it
22:06a month later.
22:07Many companies
22:08that own
22:09several casinos
22:10are actually
22:11going into
22:12one surveillance room.
22:13So one surveillance room
22:14could be watching
22:15up to four or five properties.
22:17Now,
22:17even though companies
22:18are centralizing
22:19surveillance rooms,
22:20casinos do keep
22:21in touch with each other.
22:22So if you get backed
22:23out of one casino
22:24and walk into another casino
22:25that's owned
22:26by a different company,
22:28chances are good
22:28a call was made already.
22:30So even though
22:30you walk into another company,
22:32surveillance rooms
22:33do keep
22:34in touch with each other.
22:35Let's see,
22:36news crash.
22:37How long
22:37until most casinos
22:39have computer vision,
22:40AI,
22:41keeping count
22:42and using that info
22:43to back off players?
22:44It's too late.
22:45It's already there.
22:46Many casinos
22:47have systems
22:48and computer software
22:50that keep tracks of cards
22:51and know if a person
22:52is counting.
22:53There's one casino
22:54in downtown Las Vegas.
22:56They actually take
22:57your driver's license,
22:58scan it
22:58and have you look
22:59at the camera
23:00so they know
23:01who you are.
23:01They know when
23:02you're leaving that floor,
23:03when you're entering
23:04the floor,
23:05how long you've been there,
23:06where you are.
23:07They can keep track
23:08of you from the moment
23:09you go on property
23:10to the moment
23:11you leave.
23:12WiseMe
23:13wants to know,
23:14can you false shuffle?
23:15That's a great question
23:16because when a person
23:17is going to cheat,
23:18usually that's the first
23:19thing they learn.
23:20I'm going to explain to you
23:21and show you
23:21how to false shuffle
23:22and I'm going to turn
23:24the top cards face up.
23:25The first shuffle,
23:26I pull back the top card
23:28and that leaves a bookmark.
23:29We call it an injog
23:31and I shuffle for real.
23:32But right below this ledge
23:34are the cards
23:35that I want to control.
23:36The next shuffle,
23:37I just push up
23:38on that bookmark
23:38and it forms a break
23:40right above the cards
23:41that I want
23:41and I just shuffle them
23:42right back to the top.
23:44The next shuffle
23:45was the Hindu shuffle.
23:46I just took them
23:47from the middle.
23:48I'm just shuffling them
23:49from the middle.
23:49That's all I'm doing
23:50and I just kept
23:51those cards right here.
23:52Oh, this is a poker
23:53for I see those four aces.
23:54I go to throw them
23:55in the middle.
23:56The last second,
23:57I drop these
23:58and they go right back
23:58on top
23:59but it looks like that.
24:00Then I pick these up,
24:02throw them onto the table.
24:03They're right here.
24:03I kick these out,
24:05I push them back
24:06to the top
24:06and I just go like this
24:08and now they look
24:09like they really got mixed
24:10but those aces
24:11are under my control.
24:13This shuffle
24:14is called
24:14in the hand ripple.
24:15They take the cards
24:16and they shuffle them
24:18like this
24:18and all I'm doing
24:20is I'm just keeping
24:21these cards on top.
24:22How?
24:23The left hand,
24:24I let the cards fall faster
24:25than my right hand
24:27and these cards
24:28go right back on top
24:29and as you're talking
24:30and you're not paying
24:31attention to your hands,
24:32it's very deceptive.
24:34This is the casino shuffle.
24:35I keep the cards
24:36I want on top.
24:37When I cut,
24:38I hold a break
24:38right above them
24:39and then I strip
24:40to that break.
24:41Now watch that
24:41face down.
24:48That's a false shuffle.
24:50This is from
24:51NoStupidQuestions subreddit.
24:53Is it theoretically possible
24:55to put a camera
24:56in glasses
24:56that can accurately predict
24:58where the roulette ball
24:59will drop?
25:00Absolutely.
25:01There are people
25:02selling roulette
25:03prediction computers.
25:05I've seen demonstrations.
25:06I still have my doubts.
25:07Lauren Scott
25:08wrote a great
25:09two-volume treatise
25:10on visual wheel prediction
25:12where you can mentally
25:13track the ball speed
25:14and the rotor speed.
25:15However,
25:16there are so many
25:16factors involved.
25:18You need a dealer
25:18to allow you to bet
25:19right up until the ball drops
25:21which is a breaking procedure.
25:22Also,
25:23the way the roulette wheels
25:24are being manufactured today,
25:26the base is lower
25:27so the cone,
25:28it's a lower profile.
25:30They're putting more
25:30deflectors on it
25:32and all these are
25:33to help increase
25:34ramdenness.
25:35So I gotta be honest,
25:36it's not as easy
25:37as you think.
25:38Vashina Roy wants to know,
25:39can you hack
25:40the slot machines?
25:42I don't know.
25:42Now,
25:42can the casinos
25:43alter the machines?
25:45Absolutely.
25:46By the turn of a screw,
25:47they can make the machines
25:48looser,
25:48which means more payouts,
25:50or tighter,
25:50meaning less payouts.
25:52It is 100% illegal
25:53to make those machines
25:55where they cannot pay out
25:56at all,
25:57but
25:57it can be done.
25:59I was told by a slot tech
26:01that they keep
26:02the machines
26:03that pay more
26:03closer to the entrances.
26:05They're not the big jackpots,
26:06but it's enough
26:07to bring people
26:08into the casino
26:09where they think
26:09they have a chance.
26:10And when they go
26:11for the slot machines
26:12with the bigger jackpots,
26:13those are gonna be
26:14the ones
26:14that are tougher
26:15to win on.
26:16Dearboy157,
26:18how do you cheat
26:19sports betting?
26:20Well,
26:21in a casino,
26:21if you want a big money scam,
26:23you gotta get
26:24the dealer involved.
26:25If you wanna cheat
26:25at sports,
26:26you need the players.
26:28Arnold Rothstein
26:28set up the World Series
26:29where they got
26:30the White Sox
26:31to throw the game.
26:32Aria Casino
26:33wants to know,
26:34what is chip dumping
26:35in poker?
26:36Chip dumping
26:37means taking your chips
26:38and purposely losing them
26:40to your partner
26:41to make them
26:42the chip leader.
26:43So if me
26:43and two other partners
26:44are on the table,
26:45me and my other partner
26:46will dump our chips
26:47off to the third person
26:48to make them
26:49the chip leader.
26:50Dank Poker
26:50wants to know,
26:51did Phil Ivey cheat
26:53and what is edge sorting?
26:54Phil Ivey
26:55is a world famous
26:56poker player.
26:57He became a Baccarat player
26:58with a partner
26:59named Kelly Sun.
27:01And they were able
27:02to beat the casinos
27:03for millions of dollars.
27:05Now,
27:05is it illegal
27:06what he did?
27:07This is the biggest debate
27:08in the casino industry.
27:09Half the industry
27:10said this was cheating,
27:11the other half
27:12says he wasn't.
27:13So you're probably
27:13sitting there saying,
27:14what is edge sorting?
27:15Well,
27:15let me just give you
27:16a simple example.
27:17If I take this casino
27:18deck of cards,
27:19yes,
27:20there are circles
27:20in the middle
27:21because before the casino
27:22sells what gives them away,
27:24they drill them
27:25so they can't be reintroduced.
27:27If I take this deck
27:28and I shuffle them
27:29and I'm gonna try
27:30and tell you
27:30where the 10s
27:31and aces are.
27:32Is that a 10 or an ace?
27:33No,
27:33it's not.
27:34It's a low card.
27:35How about that one,
27:35Sal?
27:36That's a low card.
27:37That's a low card.
27:38Oh,
27:38that's a 10 or an ace.
27:39I guarantee it.
27:40How about that one?
27:41That's a low card.
27:42This is a low card.
27:43There's your 10 or an ace.
27:44So you're probably saying,
27:45how is he doing this?
27:47Because of the manufacturing process
27:50on how playing cards are cut,
27:51it is impossible
27:52to cut a card evenly.
27:54This is called a diamondback.
27:56This card's a staple
27:57in the casino industry.
27:58If you look on this edge
27:59right here,
28:00you're gonna see
28:01this edge
28:02is a half a diamond
28:03where on this edge
28:04it's a full diamond.
28:05So in this particular deck,
28:07every card is cut
28:08the same way.
28:09However,
28:10if I could somehow
28:12get cards turned around,
28:15I could distinguish
28:15one from the other.
28:17Even though they're shuffled,
28:19if I look down,
28:20I see this is a full diamond.
28:21That is a low card.
28:23I see that is a half a diamond.
28:25That is a 10 or an ace.
28:27Very simple.
28:28The hard part
28:29is getting the casino
28:30to turn the cards around.
28:33So how did Phil Ivey
28:34get the casino
28:35to turn cards around for him?
28:37Well, first of all,
28:38Phil Ivey's a big gambler.
28:39Casinos want the money.
28:41So all Phil Ivey said was,
28:42we want the cards
28:43to become pre-shuffled
28:44and we don't want to wash.
28:46That's where the casino
28:47takes the cards
28:48and scrambles them
28:48all over the table.
28:49The casino says,
28:50no problem,
28:51no wash.
28:52Then he says,
28:53we want the cards
28:54shown to us first.
28:55And then we want to tell the dealer
28:57how to pick up the cards.
28:58Plus, we want to bet
28:59after the cards have been dealt.
29:01So let's play around
29:02Phil Ivey style.
29:03Now, Phil Ivey makes his bet,
29:06a little bet.
29:06We'll bet here.
29:07Now the casino showed
29:08Phil Ivey each card.
29:10If Kelly's son said
29:11that card is unlucky,
29:13she wants it turned over this way.
29:15Unlucky.
29:17That's unlucky.
29:18Lucky cards get turned over that way.
29:20So, because certain cards
29:22were turned over this way,
29:23certain cards were turned over that way,
29:25no matter how these cards
29:27get shuffled,
29:28providing they're not spun around,
29:30you can look down
29:31and see,
29:31wait a minute,
29:32big diamond,
29:33big diamond,
29:33big diamond,
29:34little diamond.
29:35There's your eight or nine.
29:36So what does that mean?
29:38Bet big on the banker
29:39because you have a big edge
29:40over the house right now
29:41knowing this is an eight or a nine.
29:43So those are all
29:44the questions for today.
