00:00The NFL continues to disrespect the Minnesota Vikings' J.J. McCarthy, but why is that?
00:05The reason is incredibly short-sighted. Let's talk about it.
00:11The Minnesota Vikings continue to be disrespected across national media and the betting markets in the 2026 season.
00:18They have one of the deepest rosters in the National Football League and now have the trench play to prove it
00:23after adding multiple pieces on both sides of the football.
00:26But everybody keeps boiling it down to, oh, we don't know what J.J. McCarthy is going to be yet.
00:32Sure, that's a fair criticism. We don't know what J.J. McCarthy is going to be yet.
00:36We can do some projection. He was the 10th overall pick.
00:40He had a phenomenal preseason debut where he looked like an NFL quarterback.
00:44And he has Kevin O'Connell as his head coach.
00:47And this is where some of that short-sightedness comes into play.
00:50One of the big things was the Vikings were listed as having the fourth worst quarterback room in the National Football League by CBS Sports.
00:57Why?
00:58They have a really good emerging young quarterback in J.J. McCarthy who projects very well.
01:03They have Sam Howell, who is a former starter in the league and is the perfect type of backup quarterback.
01:08And they have Brett Rippon as their third QB who started a few games.
01:11That should easily put them a lot closer to 20 than it would be to 30 because they're 29th in the league.
01:18That just doesn't make a lot of sense.
01:20Plus, the Kevin O'Connell factor, as I mentioned earlier.
01:24Kevin O'Connell is the number one reason why the Minnesota Vikings have had success at the quarterback position.
01:30He has gotten the best play out of Kirk Cousins, out of Josh Dobbs, out of Nick Mullins, and now out of Sam Darnold.
01:38One, okay, an anomaly.
01:40Two, okay, I see you.
01:42Three, is it trend?
01:44Four, it's turning into just factual that guys just play their best under O'Connell.
01:48Now, why wouldn't J.J. McCarthy be that?
01:51Why wouldn't they elevate him to another stratosphere?
01:55It just seems very short-sighted that people are just not willing to give the Vikings their due.
02:02Why?
02:03Well, they're giving the Bears their due.
02:06The Vikings have a better everything than the Bears, except the question really remains a quarterback.
02:11And you could argue Ben Johnson's a better play caller, but he certainly is not a better head coach.
02:16They don't have a better offensive line.
02:18They don't have a better group of weapons.
02:20They don't have a better defensive line.
02:21They don't have better linebackers.
02:24And secondary?
02:25Okay, I'll give them secondary.
02:28But let's be real here.
02:31The Vikings are legit.
02:33And it's about time that national media just starts opening themselves up to the possibility
02:37that even an average season from J.J. McCarthy, this team could win 11 or 12 games
02:42because the rest of the talent is that good.
02:47Time to wake up.
02:48We certainly have in Minnesota.
02:51I'm Tyler Fornes with ADZ Sports.
02:53Skull Vikings.
02:53The Kings are good.
03:01The Kings are good.
03:05You guys are good.
03:07We're good.
