Ryan Roberts recaps 2026 four-star RB Javian Osborne's commitment to the Fighting Irish and what it means for their recruiting class going forward!
Transcript
00:00What a statement by Jawan Sider. 2026 four-star running back Javion Osborne commits to the
00:06fighting Irish over finalist Michigan. Let's get psyched folks. Let's talk about it. This
00:11great commitment, how it went down and what Osborne means to the Irish.
00:19Ryan Roberts from A to Z Sports breaking down everything Notre Dame football. Folks,
00:23Notre Dame got a huge commitment on Saturday from four-star 40 Texas high school running back
00:30Javion Osborne listed 5'10", 195 pounds, fresh off of back-to-back thousand yard seasons for 40 in
00:38which he averaged seven yards a carry this past year and over 20 touchdowns. 5'10", 195 pounds,
00:44rated as a top 100 recruit by multiple of the major recruiting platforms. This was a huge one,
00:50folks. Jawan Sider, new running backs coach who came over from Penn State this offseason,
00:55has made a huge statement in the recruiting world. Now let's talk about first and foremost
01:00what this means for Notre Dame. You get one of the absolute best running backs in the 2026
01:06recruiting class, a player that Notre Dame has been on and wanted for a very, very long time.
01:11When you pop on the film of Osborne, reminds me a lot of former NFL Pro Bowl running back
01:17LaShawn, Shady McCoy, really explosive junk guts, good feel for space, first to second level vision.
01:25This kid's explosive in tight areas and he's got pretty good long speed to boot. So this kid
01:29is a space weapon, I believe, on the NFL college level, hopefully NFL level at some point as well.
01:35But on the college level, I think he's going to become a three down weapon for a team. Already 195,
01:40200 pounds as well. So he'll be well over 210 pounds before too long into his college career.
01:46And let's not look over one other big aspect of this huge offer list state of Texas, but also you
01:54beat out Michigan for him. Michigan did a tremendous job. The Wolverine staff did really well in this
01:59recruitment of Osborne and kept this one very competitive for a very long time. But Notre Dame
02:04was able to outdo their rival, their bitter rival that Notre Dame fans hate. And I am included in
02:11that bunch. So huge victory in that regard. Also a statement victory, like I said, from Jawan Sider.
02:17Now, when Jawan Sider came over from Penn State after Dela McCullough had left for the Las Vegas
02:22Raiders, yes, there was a deep relationship with Notre Dame and Osborne for a while. But when Coach
02:29McCullough left, Osborne, Notre Dame was not the number one team for Javion Osborne. This was a
02:36situation where Coach Sider had to come in and he had to work for this one. At that point, you were in
02:41a okay spot with Jonas Walton. You were in an okay with a spot with Javion Osborne. You were in okay
02:47with a spot with even Javion Mallory at that point before he ended up committing to the University of
02:52Miami. But Osborne, Notre Dame was in the mix, probably a top three to four team overall for the Texas
02:59star, but they were not the number one. Coach Sider came in and he showcased just how impactful
03:06he can be as a recruiter. Other recruits that are still on the board, like Brian Bonner out of the
03:11state of California, we'll see where things trend trying to get his second back in this class.
03:15But this is a monumental first victory for Coach Sider for this Notre Dame team. They got one of the
03:20best running backs in the 2026 class. Well, after Jeremiah Love is gone, the Notre Dame position,
03:25running back position will be in a great standing and Osborne will be a big key part of that formula
03:31moving forward. Folks, hit that like button. Make sure to subscribe on the way out. It's a good day
03:36to be a Notre Dame fan. And as always, go Irish.
