00:00Lex Luger, Ron Simmons, and a whole host of other wrestlers headed to tomorrow night's exclusive pay-per-view extravaganza, the third annual Wrestle War 1991.
00:09Plus, Barry Winderman on Anderson against Ricky Morton and Tommy Rich, and Nature Boy Buddy Landell against the Stinger himself, all this morning on The Power.
00:30Well, fans, I know this may be a little hard to take. We're going to start off the Power Hour this morning with Paul Lee in the Danger Zone.
00:54I don't think I can get a word in edgewise. Let's just go to the ring and let him hear. Let's hear this. This should be very good.
01:03The greatest tag team in the history of professional wrestling and led them to the world. Tag team titles. Congratulations.
01:12Well, thank you very much, Paul Lee Danger Slend. Now, if you're wondering where Sorrell Butler Butch Reed is right now.
01:18That was my question, Teddy.
01:19Well, Sorrell Butler Butch Reed is out right now making up his mind whether he wants to buy a Mercedes or whether he wants to buy a Rolls Royce.
01:26Now, we've got a match coming up, and we're not worried about it. It's like taking candy from a baby, and then we're going to do a lot of partying. You know what I mean?
01:33We're going to do a lot of partying. You know? Yes, Ron.
01:36Well, look, I don't know about the partying, but I know one thing. It's going to be all business for Ron Simmons, because business is what made Ron Simmons.
01:42That's why I was a three-time All-American. That's why I was a Heisman Trophy candidate.
01:46And that's why I will continue to be successful in this sport. Now, if they want to go and live large and hound the hogs, that's on them.
01:52But as far as me, this is my bread and butter, and you can't buy butter if you don't get money. And this is my bank right here.
01:58You know, Teddy, that's exactly what, you know, it's such a great honor to be here with the Manager of the Year and one half of the World Tag Team Championship.
02:06Well, there's Scott Sandlin, the opponent of Ron Simmons. I was pretty intrigued by what Simmons had to say.
02:13I can't see why Simmons is staying with Theodore Long anyway after recent events involving those gentlemen.
02:22Almost lead one to believe that Teddy Long must know something on Simmons or have him do an ironclad contract.
02:28Because he's a great athlete.
02:35Of course, so is Hacksaw Butch Reed, for that matter.
02:38But Ron Simmons is such a, he's an educated individual, very goal-oriented.
02:43I just don't understand why he even continues to take the advice of Theodore Long.
02:51One thing about it, at the, tomorrow night's big event in Phoenix, they must be focused because the Freebirds are hungry.
03:01And they're looking for an upset tomorrow night at the third annual Russell Moore pay-per-view.
03:05Nice elbow there by Ron Simmons.
03:13As Pauley said at the top of the program, he'll be back with us in a few moments.
03:17We, uh, we'll see some great tag team action here today.
03:22I'm really looking forward to seeing Arne Anderson and Mary Wyndham take on Tommy Rich and Ricky Morton.
03:30Lex Luger is here. Sid Vicious is here.
03:32Sting takes on Nature Boy Buddy Landale.
03:35And Gordon Soley will be here with us in the WNN News as well.
03:39There's a backbreaker by Ron Simmons.
03:41Totally dominant here on Scott Sandlin, no doubt about it.
03:46Look at Long there.
03:48Beat him up some more. Beat him up some more.
03:51Hey, you don't tell me what you do.
03:52I don't know if you're here.
03:54I don't know if you're here.
03:55I see you there. I don't know. I didn't know if he was talking to Simmons or the referee.
04:00You don't tell me what to do. I'm the boss here, so to speak.
04:05Power slam by Ron Simmons.
04:07Well, I know that Simmons and Reed have gained the most prestigious tag titles in the world,
04:16the WCW World Tag Team titles.
04:17Shoulder block. This one's academic, I can tell you that.
04:22I just don't understand why an educated, basically a guy with a lot of character, Ron Simmons,
04:31who is a great college athlete, still associates with Theodore Long.
04:34Be that as it may, they'll be in Wrestle War tomorrow night.
04:37You know, Paul, as we've said, it's almost a love-hate relationship with Ron Simmons and Butch Reed.
04:46Tomorrow night, exclusively on pay-per-view,
04:47they'll defend their world tag titles against the Freebirds in Phoenix.
04:51Let me ask you this question. How come Missy's going out to Phoenix?
04:53How come you're going out to Phoenix?
04:54How come Dusty Rhodes is going to Phoenix and I'm not being invited out there?
04:57You must talk to the director.
04:59As a matter of fact, why don't you talk to Jim Hurd, executive vice president of WCW.
05:02What's his extension?
05:03I'm going to say that on the air and get fired?
05:05No.
05:06We'll tell you a little bit. We'll tell you during a commercial break.
05:08We'll have more right after this time out.
05:09Talk to me now.
05:21One on the Power Hour here on TBS, Jim Ross and Pauly Dangerously back with you.
05:24You know, last Saturday night on World Championship Wrestling,
05:26a newcomer made a debut, rather auspiciously,
05:29Big Josh, a buddy of Tommy Wildfire Rick.
05:32Yeah, you see, here's this guy, Big Josh.
05:34When Tommy Rich goes hunting and chops down trees up in the Pacific Northwest,
05:37this is his hunting buddy.
05:38And he came down to Atlanta to see Tommy Rich wrestle on TV.
05:42Probably came through Phoenix, which is where I'd like to be tonight.
05:44As a matter of fact, here's what happened when Tommy Rich got in a real bad situation.
05:48Yeah, but each and every one of them are illegal clenched fists.
05:53Tommy Rich.
05:54There's a fist press. Wait a minute.
05:56Rip Morgan.
05:58In the ring.
05:59Referee's going to disqualify a victory for outside interference.
06:03Wait, who's that guy?
06:04Who's this guy?
06:05Who's that guy came out of the stands?
06:07Who is that guy?
06:08There's a fan that has come out of the stands.
06:11Oh, that's it. Shut down the camera.
06:12What's going on here?
06:13That fan was setting up for the cheap seats.
06:15I noticed him when he came in.
06:17That big red hat on.
06:19All the referees are out there.
06:20Fans cannot enter the ring.
06:22We can't have this.
06:23What's going on here?
06:24Well, there you see Grizzly Smith, one of the officials of WCW.
06:29And there's Doug Dillinger, the chief of security.
06:34Who is this jerk?
06:36What's going on here?
06:37That guy with a red hat that some fan came right out of the stands with that axe handle.
06:43That guy needs to be arrested is what that guy needs to be.
06:45What's going on here?
06:46Looks to me like he's going to be detained all right.
06:48At that point in the program, we thought that big Joshua Jones was just a fan, got a little overzealous, and came out of the crowd.
06:56Who are you talking to?
06:56I saw him on America's Most Wanted.
06:58His name is Joe.
06:59You didn't.
07:00Paul.
07:01Well, let's talk about what happened here last.
07:02Hang your phone up, please.
07:04Do I have to?
07:04Yes.
07:05We will take a look here now at big Joshua came out with Doug Dillinger, chief of security, in handcuffs.
07:12Oh, yeah, he came out in handcuffs because the guy's been on America's Most Wanted.
07:15He has not.
07:15He has not.
07:16Here's what happened last week.
07:17You can't have people coming out of stands into the ring.
07:20We're not going to tolerate it one bit.
07:22Josh told me the only reason he come down, he's a logger from the northwest.
07:27One-on-one's a fight.
07:28He's seen two-on-one, and all he did, seen his buddy.
07:31I'm sorry.
07:31You need to have control of the man.
07:33You know, he stays up there, not in the ring.
07:35If you're going to take responsibility for him, then I'll go ahead and take the cuffs off, but you better have control of him.
07:40Okay, I promise.
07:41All right, so let's take these cuffs off.
07:43Good Lord.
07:44Hey, he's a strong guy.
07:48All right, now we know that he's Big Joshua Jones.
07:50He called me to call him Big Josh, and we'll see Big Josh tonight on World Championship Wrestling.
07:55Paul Lee and Bob Cottle have that broadcast because, yes, Dusty Rhodes, Missy Hyde, and yours truly will be in Phoenix.
08:01And guess who's going to be on the plane with him, ladies and gentlemen?
08:04It's the Stinger himself with his face painted up and his hair spiked up real high.
08:09Today, however, Sting just might not make it to the plane, might not make it to the war game, because he has to take on Nature Boy Buddy Landale.
08:16Go to the ring.
08:17Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is set for one fall.
08:21Introducing first from Jacksonville, Florida, at 242 pounds, he's a Nature Boy, Buddy Landale.
08:30You know, I don't know why you're so upset about this situation tonight.
08:34Fans, we don't want to make it clear that there will be a great broadcast tonight, World Championship Wrestling, two hours.
08:40Bob Cottle and Paul Lee will be here.
08:42Here's a bullet.
08:43Here's from Tennessee, California.
08:44And the rest of us will be in Phoenix.
08:48No big deal.
08:49America, this is Sting.
08:52Now, that's a big deal.
08:53Sting is a big deal.
08:55Well, he might not be such a big deal after Nature Boy Buddy Landale gets a hold of him.
08:59I mean, here's Buddy Landale.
09:01Well, tomorrow night, he steps in the ring with the natural Dustin Rhodes.
09:05Wouldn't it be a great feather in Buddy Landale's cap if he could take Sting out of the war game before tomorrow night?
09:11Well, that certainly is a possibility, because Landale is an outstanding competitor,
09:16starting out very quickly with the Stinger here.
09:20And now the Stinger reverses Landale, puts him in the corner.
09:23Tomorrow night, inside that double ring, steel cage with a top on it.
09:27It will be the Horseman, Flair, Anderson, Wyndham and Vicious, taking on Sting, the Steiner brothers, and Flying and Brian.
09:34And that vertical suplex had little effect on the former heavyweight champion of the world, the Stinger.
09:39Well, Sting's a real fire pistol, but he needs to slow down the pace.
09:43He's going in there with Nature Boy Buddy Landale.
09:46There's no way Sting...
09:47Whoa!
09:47There's no way Sting can take Landale out early.
09:50High-impact moves right out here on the concrete floor.
09:55The Stinger showing a very aggressive streak, as we mentioned.
09:59Sting, the Steiner brothers, Elie Gontay, along with Missy Hyde and Dusty Rhodes,
10:04will be with me in Phoenix tonight,
10:08as we'll be bringing our broadcast to you not only from center stage in Atlanta,
10:11but also from Phoenix, Arizona.
10:15Stinger splash.
10:16And Landale, who started off very quickly, I think has fired his last offensive shot.
10:24There's no way he can make Landale submit or surrender.
10:28Buddy Landale gives it up here on the power out.
10:31And Joe and a Sting!
10:37Well, he's obviously sending a message to the Horseman,
10:40and this really does do the trick.
10:42Sting with the Stinger splash, leading into the Scorpion Death Lock.
10:45I cannot believe that Sting has made Nature Boy Buddy Landale submit and surrender.
10:54Fans, don't forget tonight,
10:55Bob Coddl and Pauly will be bringing you the new World Six-Man Tag Team Champions.
10:58Also, Pauly's going to interview all four horsemen.
11:01Big Josh wrestlers tonight.
11:02We'll tell you more about it when the Power Hour continues.
11:05This is PBS.

12:23This week on the Wrestling News Network, our first thrust is toward the World Television Championship,
12:37currently held by Arn Anderson.
12:39But two gentlemen desperately want that title.
12:42Two former friends, I might add, Terry Taylor and the Z-Man.
12:46At this point in time, one match between the two of them went to a draw.
12:50Each man has been disqualified on one occasion.
12:54Tomorrow night at pay-per-view from Phoenix, exclusively pay-per-view, no disqualification between the two.
13:02Why's he helping him out?
13:03It's a good sport, something you wouldn't know anything about.
13:06Well, it's a great matchup.
13:08Tom Lemmer draw.
13:09Oh, Terry Taylor just slapped Z-Man right in the face.
13:13That was unnecessary.
13:14Terry Taylor, after the draw, just slapped Z-Man right in the face.
13:23Quite a matchup here.
13:25We saw them go to a time limit draw here last week.
13:28What a rivalry.
13:30It's just in between.
13:31Taylor just threw them over the top rope.
13:33Taylor will be disqualified.
13:34Ladies and gentlemen, as this dude rages on.
13:38The Z-Man!
13:39Two weeks ago, it was a time limit draw.
13:45Last week, Terry Taylor gets disqualified.
13:48And the Z-Man is very close to getting disqualified here.
13:53Randy Anderson calls for the bell.
13:55The Z-Man has been disqualified.
13:57The winner of the match is Terry Taylor!
14:01This is just one of a series of fantastic matches that you will see tomorrow night exclusively on pay-per-view.
14:08I might also point out that you should call and subscribe now to the third annual Wrestle War 91.
14:15Now, an interesting situation occurred last week when Paul E. Dangerously, on the danger zone, was interviewing El Gigante.
14:23Well, El Gigante, the gentle giant, became a little upset.
14:28Watch what happens to Paul E. Dangerously.
14:30...anywhere in the world that even compares to his size.
14:34El...
14:34Hi.
14:36El Gigante, thank you very much for coming out here.
14:38I wanted to talk to you, face the belly button, because there seems to be a problem here.
14:43You know, you come out here and you keep saying that you want the belt.
14:47That means you want to fight Ric Flair.
14:50He's a seven-time heavyweight champion of the world.
14:54What I want to know is, what credentials do you have to fight Ric Flair?
14:59What I want to know is, who have you beaten in the top ten to deserve a shot at Ric Flair?
15:03What I want to know is, sir, to come out here all the time, you say,
15:06I want the belt. I want the belt.
15:08First of all, nobody here cares what you have to say.
15:12Secondly, nobody understands you.
15:14You understand what I'm...
15:15Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow!
15:19I want the belt!
15:21Ow!
15:22You understand that!
15:24Ow! Ow! Ow!
15:30Another real treat is in store for you tomorrow night on the third annual Wrestle War 91,
15:35a pay-per-view, and that is a youngster who is 6'5", 265 pounds.
15:42His last name is Rhodes.
15:43Not Dusty, but Dustin.
15:46That's right.
15:46The American dream son, the natural, and he is a natural indeed,
15:51will be stepping into the squared circle to do battle.
15:54If you want to take a look at Dustin Rhodes, the natural in action, watch this.
15:58There's a close line.
16:02And now Dustin Rhodes has become very dominant in this contest.
16:06I don't think it makes any difference if it goes five minutes or five hours.
16:09He's going to wear Rogers out.
16:11Well, if he does that, I'm going to be very impressed,
16:13because Rogers is a tremendous athlete.
16:16Dustin Rhodes, there's the Bulldog!
16:20Bulldog headlocked.
16:21The natural, Dustin Rhodes, in convincing fashion.
16:24Here is your winner, the natural, Dustin Rhodes!
16:28The natural is the truth.
16:31And you can see him live tomorrow night on pay-per-view,
16:357 o'clock Eastern Time, 4 o'clock Pacific.
16:38Call your cable operators now and subscribe.
16:41See you tomorrow night.

17:43Jim Ross and Pauly Danderson back with you.
17:45Arne Anderson and Mary Wyndham to take on Ricky Morton and Tommy Wildfire Rich.
17:49These two teams met just a few weeks ago,
17:51and the horsemen came away with a very controversial victory indeed.
17:55WCW officials have more than a rematch,
17:57and we're glad to bring it to you right here this morning on the Power Hour.
18:00And a bullet first from Atlanta Georgia back to an 18-pound world tag team champion.
18:07And here it's, and it's caught by Michael Chassie.
18:11We'll have a lot of the world's best, Ricky Morton.
18:15Along with the Junkyard Dogs, they are the new six-man world tag team champions.
18:19And Paul, you and Bob Scott will be able to see them tonight
18:22on World Championship Wrestling beginning at 6.05.
18:25Of course, that's an Eastern Time start here tonight on TVS.
18:28Arne, let me ask you this question.
18:29Now, last week, you were such a big help to me
18:33when Elie Gonday decided to try to stop me from conducting that danger zone
18:37tomorrow night at Wrestle War with him,
18:40since he's a coward and won't face me face the belly button.
18:44Now, tonight, I have a danger zone with the horsemen at 6.05.
18:48What happens if they have a flash forward to the war game
18:51and decide to beat me up?
18:53Who's going to save me, Bob Cottle?
18:54Oh, probably nobody.
18:57Maybe some of the members of your fan club will come down and take care of it.
19:00Which chapter?
19:01I don't know.
19:03The institutionalized version of your fan club, probably.
19:06That'd be great.
19:07I'd be in trouble.
19:08Bob Cottle would come in and say,
19:09hey, vote for Jesse Helms for president.
19:12There is a Barry Windham circling Tommy Wildfire Rich.
19:16Boy, it's a big weekend for the horsemen.
19:23They know what it's like to step inside the war games.
19:26They were in the first one.
19:28I happen to have the privilege of broadcasting the very first war games,
19:32July 4, 1987.
19:34And it was a real bloodbath.
19:38Oh, and tomorrow night's going to be a real bloodbath
19:40because none of the eight have ever submitted.
19:44Oh, beautiful right hand by Barry Windham.
19:47Neither.
19:48I mean, not, not.
19:49Windham, Anderson, Blair, Vicious, Sting, the Steiners, or Flying Brian.
19:53Nobody has ever submitted or surrendered.
19:55Tomorrow night, one of the eight gets a blemish on his record.
20:00Well, fans, before tomorrow night's broadcast,
20:02I want to remind you and invite you to watch our Wrestle War 91 pregame show.
20:06That'll be on the main event here on CBS tomorrow night at 6.05.
20:09It'll be broadcast from Phoenix with Dusty Rhodes, Missy Hyde, and yours truly.
20:15Hope you will join us for that broadcast,
20:18and we'll be out in Phoenix.
20:19We're going to catch a plane here.
20:21As a matter of fact, in just a little over an hour from now,
20:24flying out to Phoenix, and we'll be there by the broadcast tonight.
20:27So, did you put in your request for a special meal on the airplane?
20:32No, I didn't.
20:33Probably need to, something low-calorie.
20:36Oh, that's for sure.
20:37You're no Wally Weight Watcher, you know.
20:39Uh-huh.
20:40You're right.
20:44Arne Anderson with a hair pull.
20:46We all saw it.
20:47Tommy Rich complaining to the referee, Randy Anderson.
20:50You know, we'll be back, Paul, in Atlanta this Tuesday night at the center stage.
20:53Really, uh, outstanding star-studded WCW national TV taping.
20:59That's 7 o'clock Tuesday night back in Atlanta.
21:02And then it's down Wednesday night to Columbus, Georgia, at the municipal auditorium.
21:06And I understand they have a very big main event signed for Columbus.
21:10Well, we will look forward to seeing all the fans throughout the great state of Georgia
21:14this Tuesday in center stage on West Peachtree in Atlanta.
21:18And on Wednesday night at 7 o'clock in the municipal auditorium,
21:22the side of some great WCW action over the years.
21:26That's in Columbus Wednesday night.
21:28Tommy Rich reversing the wrist lock.
21:30Turning it up a notch.
21:31Tagging in to Ricky Morton.
21:32Ricky Morton, in my estimation, is the real catalyst of this six-man tag team.
21:40Simply because he has so much tag team experience.
21:45Oh, most definitely.
21:46I mean, you're looking at a guy that is a four-time former world tag team champion.
21:52If anybody in world championship wrestling knows about tag team wrestling, it's Ricky Morton.
21:59Good arm drag takeover by Ricky Morton.
22:00Fans, we've got to take a commercial break.
22:03We'll be back with the balance of this contest right after this timeout.
22:10Well, no, we've got more time, I'm understanding.
22:12Excuse me.
22:13We're going to keep it here a little bit longer.
22:15Our director must be in a good mood today, Paul.
22:17He hasn't talked to you yet.
22:19Oh, that's very...
22:20Hey, well, if you want...
22:21You've cried at everybody else.
22:22You showed her why you couldn't go to Phoenix.
22:24I thought we were going to take our normal break about this time,
22:27and we're going to keep wrestling.
22:28So we're still on the air?
22:29Yes, we're still on the air.
22:31Mommy, I'll call you back, okay?
22:34I'm still on the air, that's why.
22:36Come on.
22:37Reversal of the Irish whip by Ricky Morton.
22:40Great Japanese arm drag taking over Arn Anderson.
22:43Anderson with a bewildered look on his face
22:45as Morton and Rich certainly came to wrestle.
22:47I mean, really compete here in this contest.
22:49Well, of course he's bewildered.
22:50I mean, where would a guy from Memphis, Tennessee,
22:53learn how to do a Japanese arm drag?
22:55Graceland.
22:55And I don't know.
22:58Here, Ricky, just do that Japanese maneuver.
23:03Pretty good, huh?
23:05Who was that?
23:05Sonny or somebody?
23:07I don't know.
23:08Dr. Nick.
23:08Was that Priscilla?
23:12Choking on her placidils.
23:14Oh, please.
23:16Overhand wrist lock by Arn Anderson.
23:17Randy Anderson asking Morton if he wants to give it up.
23:24I do want to point out that Arn Anderson and Peewee Anderson,
23:27the referee, are not related.
23:30No nepotism in this match.
23:34None at all.
23:34As a matter of fact, only favoritism on the part of Peewee Anderson
23:38in the favor of Ricky Morton and Tommy Rich.
23:41Well, I haven't seen him spin the rules for these guys.
23:47Match is young.
23:47Give them time.
23:50Barry Windham comes in.
23:52Great crowd looking on at this contest.
23:54As we said, the horsemen met Morton and Rich a few weeks ago.
23:59And the horsemen won it.
24:02Now I know we're getting close to our commercial break.
24:05No, we're not going.
24:06We're going to stay with this.
24:07We're going to stay with this.
24:18Wyndham hammering away.
24:20Not Wyndham getting hammered by Tommy Wildfire Rich.
24:25Rich reversed it very quickly on Wyndham.
24:28Got Wyndham on the defensive.
24:30And it was Tommy Wildfire Rich with those right hands.
24:33Jim Ross and Paul E. Danielsley back with you here this morning on TBS.
24:36And this is really an intense tag team event.
24:40Oh, it most certainly is.
24:42And I'll tell you what, I finally have...
24:43Wait a minute.
24:44There's a lateral press.
24:45He brought him in and went for the pin there.
24:48Tommy Rich really full of fire in this contest.
24:52He and Morton remember how they lost it to Wyndham and Anderson just a few weeks ago.
24:56You know, I finally have proved positive that Tommy Rich is an absolute liar and a jerk.
25:03What is that?
25:04He did an interview earlier and he said that Big Josh is going to make his wrestling debut tonight.
25:10He is going to be on our broadcast tonight.
25:13How could that be?
25:14I mean, a week ago the guy comes out of the stands.
25:17He's a fan.
25:17He's arrested.
25:18And tonight they're going to let him wrestle?
25:20I think he's a scuffler.
25:21They're going to give him a shot.
25:22So the guy makes his debut on national TV tonight?
25:27It was very similar to you starting to do color commentary on some of our broadcasts.
25:32You hadn't done it before.
25:33You didn't know anything about it.
25:34You've been a manager.
25:35That doesn't give you reason to be a color man, but somebody somewhere apparently saw some talent.
25:41That guy's been committed, but in any event you're still on the board.
25:45So what are you worried about?
25:49What do you care anyway?
25:50You're going to be a little bit of a guy anyway.
25:52Bob Cottle's going to...
25:53I feel sorry for Bob tonight.
25:56Why?
25:58Because he's stuck here in Atlanta while you get to go out first class to Phoenix?
26:03Arn Bart and I suck.
26:04Moved there by Rich and Morton.
26:05They made the exchange, but they did not make the tag.
26:09And Arn Anderson, much to his credit, has a legitimate gripe to his non-relative Randy Anderson about the tag.
26:17But, like I said, favoritism on the part of Pee-wee Anderson.
26:26Tommy Rich has that arm barred very tightly.
26:30And he's really wrenching that shoulder, isn't he?
26:35Paul will be talking to the horsemen tonight at 6.05.
26:38They will be involved in a tremendous eight-man tag team event.
26:41And we're going to be watching it out in Phoenix tonight.
26:43Again, fans, very unique broadcast tonight here on TBS.
26:47Part of our broadcast crew will be in here in Atlanta.
26:51And part of us will be in Phoenix.
26:53And I'm sure you'll hear Paul whine about that for a couple of hours tonight.
26:57About why he didn't get to go.
26:59Oh, that makes it really...
27:00I think it had something to do with the arm wrestling contest, but I'm not real sure.
27:03It has nothing to do with the arm wrestling contest.
27:05Listen, you telling them that I'm going to whine for two hours must really make them want to tune in tonight.
27:12Well, we hope they tune in.
27:14They should.
27:16Disregarding your whining.
27:17Fireman Carey takeover, but a tag was made.
27:19And now the enforcer of the horsemen and world television champion, Arne Anderson.
27:26Measuring more.
27:27Stomps him right in the head there.
27:30A man this animalistic does not have the word submit or surrender in his vocabulary.
27:36Which one of the four in the war games do you think could make Arne Anderson submit or surrender?
27:42I tell you, I don't know.
27:43Looking at all eight of the men that will be in the war games tomorrow night, I can't see any of them submitting or surrendering.
27:51But that is the stipulation, the only stipulation.
27:54Anderson held on.
27:55Ten minutes of an absolute match.
27:57Ten minutes.
27:57But Morton comes up, firing those right hands.
28:01Ricky Morton going for the figure four.
28:03The move made famous by nature boy Rick Blair.
28:07Arne Anderson is in a very dangerous position.
28:10But Wyndham comes.
28:12Oh, man.
28:14Barry Wyndham with the referee being detained.
28:17Now, that was a mistake on Tommy Rich's part.
28:19Yeah, but he was suckered into it because Wyndham started to come in.
28:22Tommy Rich then comes in the counter.
28:25When the referee goes to Tommy Rich, that's when Wyndham came in and did the damage.
28:30Now, Morton going back to work on the leg.
28:32Very sound strategy.
28:33Tagging in Tommy Wildfire Rich.
28:35It's Rich dropping the elbow on the inside of the leg.
28:38Inside of the knee more specifically.
28:40Of Arne Anderson.
28:44And it looks like Rich is going to go for a figure four.
28:48First, he stretches that quadricep muscle.
28:52Trying to tighten up the hamstring.
28:54Anderson has had some problems with his groin muscle in the past few weeks.
28:58And he has been well scouted here, quite obviously.
29:05Oh, no doubt about it.
29:06I mean, you don't get to be the world six-man tag team champions without looking at...
29:10Oh!
29:10I'm going to be having my annual predictions on our pay-per-view events today and tonight on the Ross Report and the Wrestling Hotline.
29:22And I hope you'll call it.
29:23I think you're going to be very surprised I'm going to be more candid, Paul, than I have in the past.
29:29I'm tired of being a wallflower around here.
29:32So are you saying people are going to be upset about what you're going to say?
29:35Perhaps some will.
29:36And they may end up with egg on my face Monday morning.
29:41But I've had egg on my face before.
29:43Or tequila on your breath tonight.
29:45No, no, no.
29:48Well, that's on the Wrestling Hotline today.
29:50Of course, you can't see.
29:51Wait a minute.
29:52He's going to go for the pin.
29:53That's the power slam.
29:54They've got two.
29:55Gordon Soley and Lance Rosa will be broadcasting tomorrow night live from Phoenix.
30:01Starts at 4 o'clock Pacific time, 5 o'clock Phoenix time.
30:046 o'clock Central, 7 o'clock Eastern.
30:08This big event.
30:10What time on the West Coast?
30:12I said 4 o'clock.
30:17Ricky Martin tossed over the top rope.
30:19Randy Anderson having his trouble here in this contest.
30:23He's missed a couple of automatic disqualifications.
30:26He's missed a tag.
30:28And again, it goes to prove that we need two referees in these tag team events.
30:32Yeah, but tomorrow night in the war games, the referee only has one duty.
30:37And that's to signal the timekeeper to ring the bell when somebody submits or surrenders.
30:42And I'll ask you again.
30:44Is there a man on the face of the planet that's tough enough or mean enough to make Barry Windham
30:48or Arne Anderson submit or surrender?
30:52Well, I have to think if there is, he is in the war games tomorrow night.
30:58The referee tomorrow night in the war games, inside two rings, all enclosed by a steel cage with a top on it.
31:04The referees will not even be in the ring.
31:08The men have the both rings to do whatever they want to each other.
31:12Lateral press again, but Morton kicks out.
31:14And, of course, fans, you can only see this event on pay-per-view.
31:20You still have time to call your local cable company and order the event
31:24as Anderson gives Windham the unfair advantage here.
31:29Again, Tommy Rich allowing his emotions to overcome him,
31:34and that takes the referee away from the action.
31:37Well, that's a perfect trap that Windham and Anderson are setting.
31:42I mean, that's why they're one of the most proficient tag teams in the world today.
31:50Man, Windham and Ron Simmons had a heck of a battle this past Sunday night in the Omni.
31:56And WCW will return to the Omni on Sunday night, March the 10th.
32:01I'm going to go see the Hawks and the Bulls play that day.
32:04And then that night, 8 o'clock, will be WCW action.
32:07So big sports day in Atlanta.
32:09The Hawks and the Bulls, Sunday, March 10th.
32:12And then that night, WCW action.
32:14Sunset flip by Ricky Morton.
32:17And the tag was made.
32:19Morton not aware of it.
32:21Notice how methodical Double A. Arn Anderson is.
32:24That's why they call him the Enforcer.
32:27He does one thing at a time, and he does it very, very well.
32:31Why don't they call him the Methodical?
32:33It doesn't sound as good.
32:36Right hand.
32:37Ricky Morton fighting out of the corner, man.
32:38He is tenacious.
32:40I really believe that he is the inspirational leader of the world's six-man tag team champions.
32:45That he, Tommy Rich, and the Junkyard Dog are now crown holders of.
32:50And that is an inverted atomic drop.
32:52I don't care how tough you are.
32:53That will certainly change your outlook on life.
32:56Not a pleasant morning for Ricky Morton.
32:59Randy Anderson down, and Morton somehow, someway, kicks out.
33:03Again, got the left shoulder up.
33:07Anderson cannot believe.
33:09Fifteen minutes have a lapse in the match.
33:11Fifteen minutes.
33:12Fifteen minutes gone in this one.
33:14Oh, man.
33:15He pulls the knees up.
33:17Turnabout is fair play.
33:18Anderson, though, is close to his corners.
33:22And he gets a tag.
33:23Very easily.
33:24And Morton does tag in Tommy Rich.
33:28Tommy Rich now opening up with a right-handed barrage on Wendell and Anderson.
33:34He's elevated the big man from Sweetwater.
33:38He nails a TV champion.
33:42And now Tommy Rich really has to capitalize on his advantage because if he makes one, but still it is.
33:48Wendell held on to the rope, anticipating that Rich might go for a drop kick.
33:57Tommy Rich landed very sternly on the back of his head.
34:00And now it's Big Barry Wendell.
34:026'6", 275 pounds, taking over, Arne Anderson with that left hand.
34:09And he must, he should have a pat for a stiff left hand.
34:13And it's like when a shark smells blood.
34:15Tommy Rich is hurt, and now the enforcer moves in for the kill.
34:21Rich's eyes right across the top ring cable.
34:24And Anderson with a blatant choke hold.
34:28The referee's going to count to five.
34:30If he gets there, it's a disqualification.
34:33But Anderson and Wendell know it full well.
34:35Again, Wendell with a cheap shot.
34:37Look at the position of the referee.
34:39That's why I think we need two referees for these tag team events.
34:43Yeah, but even then, Wendell and Anderson would figure out a way to distract both referees.
34:48You're looking at the most proficient.
34:50There's a counter move.
34:51He countered the neck breaker.
34:54And the tag was made.
34:56Great tag work.
34:57Wendell and Anderson are operating as one here.
35:01Notice once again, every time Wendell or Anderson is in trouble, he's right by his own corner so that the tag can be made.
35:10They're always within an arm's reach of their partner.
35:13Wait a minute.
35:13There's Teddy Long out here.
35:16Teddy Long making a very surprised visit.
35:19He's nuts.
35:20To our program.
35:21And we haven't seen him.
35:23Well, we've seen him sporadically the last few weeks.
35:25What's he out here popping off to Arne Anderson for?
35:28He's going to get his butt kicked.
35:30There's Ron Simmons.
35:32Simmons from behind there.
35:35Simmons attacking Arne Anderson.
35:38This was a trap.
35:39Why Ron Simmons continues to take his orders from Teddy Long is beyond me.
35:48The match is going on back in the ring.
35:50There's Barry Wendell out there to nail Simmons now.
35:54Now, referee's back in the ring.
35:56Wendell may be counted out.
35:58Simmons just got it in the face of that bell.
36:00Oh, man.
36:04This is an all-out war.
36:06This was a trap.
36:09This is a brawl here.
36:11From Sunday Night's Omni, it hasn't ended.
36:14I think the horsemen have been counted out.
36:17The winners of the match we have count out holds out from Rich and Ricky Morton.
36:23Well, Ron Simmons with Theodore Long has cost the horsemen a victory here.
36:29Come on, John.
36:30Oh, man.
36:31The trap worked.
36:32The horsemen fell right into Teddy Long's trap once again.
36:38Wendell and Simmons going at each other.
36:40And where's Butch Reed?
36:42And really, this is a very mysterious situation with Teddy Long and his alleged hold over Ron Simmons.
36:52Fans will have more.
36:54Lex Lutner coming up next on the Power Hour.
36:56On the road with Rolling Thunder Tour 91.
37:13Wednesday, March 6th, Greenville Memorial Auditorium, 730.
37:17Lex Luger, Tommy Ridge, and Eligante.
37:19Tuesday, the 5th, Barrietta.
37:20The Cobb County Civic Center, 7 o'clock.
37:22Ric Flair, Barry Windham, and Arne Anderson.
37:24On Sunday, the 3rd, Atlantic City Convention Center, 730.
37:27Ricky Morton, Scott Steiner, Dustin Rhodes.
37:29Saturday, the 2nd, in the Waldorf, Maryland, Thomas Stone High School, 8 o'clock.
37:35Dangerous Dance by the Doom and Big Sid Vicious.
37:38Friday, the 1st, the arena in Baltimore, 8 o'clock.
37:40Ric Steiner, Sting, and Z-Man.
37:42Thursday, February 28th, Chattanooga, UTC Arena, 730.
37:47Ric Flair, the Freebirds, and Terry Taylor.
37:49Wednesday, the 27th, Municipal Auditorium, Columbus, 730.
37:53Sting, Lex Luger, Eligante.
37:55Tomorrow, Phoenix, the big one.
37:57Arizona Vest Memorial Coliseum, 430.
38:00Stan Hansen, the Royal Family, Big Sid Vicious.
38:03Today, Milwaukee, Mecca Arena, 1 o'clock.
38:06Brian Bryan, Ric Steiner, Ricky Morton.
38:13Ladies and gentlemen, the final contest is set for one fall.
38:16Introducing first, the United States heavyweight champion from Chicago, Illinois.
38:21He is deep for the package, Colin Luger.
38:27Lex Luger, tomorrow night in Phoenix, will defend the United States heavyweight championship
38:34against dangerous Dan Spivey.
38:37And I want to tell you something.
38:38I really believe that's going to be, that has the potential to be a big shocker.
38:42More on that on the wrestling hotline today as I've analyzed that matchup.
38:47Take a real good look at that belt, Luger, because it might be the last time you see it up close.
38:53Luger powering John Peterson back into the corner.
38:56Rookie referee Lee Scott officiating this contest.
39:00Don't forget, fans, this Tuesday night, we'll be back in Atlanta at center stage
39:03with a national television taping.
39:05It begins at 7 o'clock on West Peachtree Street.
39:07I think it's Wednesday night, 7 o'clock in Columbus, Georgia, at the Municipal Auditorium.
39:14Great wrestling action has taken place over the years.
39:17For many years, promoter Fred Ward was a fixture in professional wrestling in Columbus.
39:22And great fans down there.
39:24We look forward to being there Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
39:27I mean, I'm not taking anything away from Luger.
39:29He's a great United States heavyweight champion.
39:32But Spivey is 6'8", he's 312 pounds.
39:35And he is something that Luger has never faced before.
39:39He's a lefty.
39:40He's a southpaw.
39:41And Luger has a problem with southpaws.
39:43You know, Hanson and Stan Hanson and Dan Spivey are partners sometimes in the Orient.
39:49And I'm sure that Hanson has been able to give Spivey a very accurate scouting report of Lex Luger.
39:57Peterson with a cheap shot there.
39:59It was cheap, but it's effective.
40:01And it's the best way to go against Luger if you're John Peterson.
40:05Those Kmart special right hands not going to have a lot of effect on the total package.
40:10Lex Luger, who viciously front face locks Peterson, has him up in a vertical suplex.
40:18Good move there by the total package Lex Luger.
40:22Irish whipping Peterson to the center of the rope, has him up.
40:26And now he tells us it's time for the human torture rack.
40:31Of course it is.
40:32He's already weak in the back with the power slam.
40:35And here he goes.
40:36Lex Luger.
40:41And that's torture rack.
40:43Here is your winner of the total package.
40:45Alex Luger.
40:48Luger and Spivey tomorrow night for all the marbles.
40:53Smart wrestling by the United States Heavyweight Champion.
40:56He shoots John Peterson into the rope.
40:58Comes off.
40:58Weakens the lower back with a beautiful power slam.
41:02Lift him up into the air for the Human Torture Act.
41:05But the question remains.
41:06Can he get a man, 6'8", 312 pounds, on his shoulders and make him tomorrow night, as in the war game, submit or surrender?
41:17I've analyzed it very thoroughly.
41:19We'll talk about it today on the Wrestling Hotline.
41:21And you can see Lex Luger take on Dangerous Dan Spivey tomorrow night, 7 o'clock Eastern Time, the third annual Wrestle War 91.
41:33And, Paul, this one features, of course, the much-anticipated War Games.
41:37War Games because it features Sid Vicious.
41:40He said, if there's ever been a man that has been created specifically for the War Games, it's Sid Vicious.
41:45He's not a man, he's a monster.
41:46He's 6'9", he's 3'33", and as you'll see right now, anybody that gets in the ring with him gets carried out on a stretcher.
41:53The monster is in action.
41:55Weighing at 321 pounds, the number of the four horsemen.
41:59He says he's from anywhere he darn well pleases.
42:03Big Sid Vicious!
42:04Well, you may have a very good point there, Paul, regarding if anybody was ever made for the War Games.
42:14It has to be Big Sid Vicious.
42:19And Vicious already taking over on Johnny Boyd here.
42:23I hope the Boyd family are taping this one because Johnny may not be in for a long wrestling career.
42:30Would you like to borrow my phone and dial 911 now, or in a minute from now?
42:35Sid Vicious, so dominant, 6'9", 3'33".
42:39Remember, in War Games, and you can be a part of it, fans.
42:43If you can't be with us in Phoenix, you can watch it on pay-per-view by calling your local cable company.
42:50You've got to do that.
42:51You've got to order it.
42:52And then sit back in the comfort of your own home, invite some friends over, and see this tremendous event.
42:57Two rings sitting side by side, enclosed by the biggest steel cage in the history of WCW Wrestling.
43:04With a top on it, no referee in the ring, no time limit, no disqualification.
43:10The match continues until a member of either team submits or surrenders.
43:16Paul, there's not even going to be a referee in the ring on this thing.
43:19This is the most volatile situation I've seen in a real long time, because all four horsemen hate all four members of Sting's team, and vice versa.
43:28But this right here is going to be the factor.
43:32Sid Vicious, the man that was tailor-made for the War Games.
43:37Tonight, when you talk to them, I hope you'll be thinking about Dusty Rhodes and Missy and I out there in Phoenix.
43:43You'll probably have a little swimsuit on, probably do something at the pool today.
43:46And I'll probably have Sid hop on a plane and stretch you guys out.
43:53Well, there's the power, Bob.
43:56Sid Vicious, so dominant.
43:58Nobody gets up from that move.
43:59The winner of the match is Vic Sid Vicious.
44:02He's calling for his own personal EMTs.
44:04There they are.
44:06And Johnny Boyd is really hurt.
44:09Really unfortunate for Boyd.
44:10Well, if you miss the War Games tomorrow night, you have to be a fool.
44:15The slam, power slam, by Sid Vicious.
44:18There's not a man on the face of the planet that can make him submit or surrender.
44:23And he's not three with Boyd.
44:24Turns him right over on the floor.
44:27This is really going to be something.
44:29Submission or surrender.
44:30It will be, as I've said on many occasions, not for the weak at heart.
44:34As Vicious continues to stomp away.
44:38Tomorrow night, the most violent man in the history of World Championship Wrestling,
44:43Sid Vicious, heads to War Games.
44:50He's really a monster.
44:51Fans, don't forget, the big one is tomorrow night in Phoenix.
45:07As a matter of fact, I'm going to catch that plane in just a few moments.
45:10Why don't you tell them about the program that you and Bob Cottle will have tonight at 6.05.
45:13Well, while you and Dusty Rhodes and all the big stars hop on your Learjet and fly out to Phoenix, Arizona,
45:21I'm going to be here tonight.
45:22And guess who's going to be here with me just because I asked him to stay behind all four horsemen in a danger zone
45:28in an eight-man tag team match.
45:29And Bob Cottle tonight, you and me, my man.
45:32Fans, we'll talk to you again tonight from Phoenix.
