04 May - National weather forecast presented by Ellie Glaisyer.
Transcript
00:01Good afternoon.
00:02Welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04High pressure very much in charge of our weather throughout much of this week, but it will
00:08be feeling a little bit cooler than it has done recently, all thanks to northeasterly
00:12winds, particularly throughout Sunday and Monday.
00:14Then that air of high pressure slips southwards across much of the UK, so potentially a bit
00:18of a warming trend throughout much of this week, but there will be plenty of dry and
00:22sunny weather around for most of us as we go throughout this week.
00:26Back to the rest of Sunday, and plenty of showers still feeding in across eastern coasts of
00:30England.
00:31These generally light and scattered, one or two heavier downpours in places, but for
00:34the most part, there will be plenty of dry weather around, plenty of sunshine and blue
00:38skies on offer, and feeling really warm where you do catch that sunshine too, a little cooler
00:42than it was at the end of last week, but we will still see highs in the south-west around
00:4616, 17, potentially 18 degrees.
00:48However, it will be feeling a little bit cooler thanks to that onshore breeze, so the feels
00:52like temperature across eastern parts of England, only around 6 or 7 degrees, so definitely
00:56feeling quite chilly if you're at eastern coasts throughout Sunday afternoon.
01:01As we then go through Sunday evening, those showers continue across eastern parts of England,
01:05perhaps one or two feeding into the south-east as well, but for the most part, dry weather
01:09around, plenty of clear skies on offer across much of the UK throughout Sunday night and
01:14into the start of Monday.
01:16And those clear skies could lead to a touch of frost, particularly across the north and the
01:19north-west, maybe down to minus 1 or minus 2 in places, although towns and cities generally
01:23holding up above zero, we'll be at those temperatures, still dropping down into the
01:27mid-single figures, so that does mean quite a chilly start for many of us on bank holiday
01:31Monday morning, but quite a bright start for many of us as well.
01:34Plenty of sunshine on offer, we will still see some showers continuing across the south-east
01:39of England, again one or two heavy downpours possible, although most of those showers
01:42generally light and scattered, but for the majority of the country, plenty of blue skies,
01:47plenty of sunshine on offer, and again, feeling warm where we see that sunshine as well.
01:51Highs in the south, 16 or 17 degrees in the north, around 13 or 14, but again, just feeling
01:56that little bit cooler along eastern coast of England throughout Monday afternoon.
02:01As we then go into Monday evening, any showers that we see across the very far south will gradually
02:05start to ease, so turning drier again for much of the country throughout Monday night
02:09and into the start of Tuesday.
02:11And with those clear skies, that does mean quite a bit of frost around as well to start on Tuesday
02:16spring, so a bit of a chilly start again.
02:18But high pressure remains very much in charge throughout much of next week, so plenty of
02:22sunshine for many of us, so do make sure you hit subscribe to our YouTube channel so you
02:25never miss a weather update.
02:27Bye for now.
