00:00Hello there and a very good morning to you on this Thursday morning. Yesterday most of the country saw their highest temperatures so far this year.
00:07Today that heat will be reserved for more central and southern areas as cooler air moves in from the northwest with some showery bursts.
00:14Now into Friday high pressure builds from the west this time but notice the air mass is cooler across the northern half of the UK.
00:21We hang on to some higher temperatures further south and into the weekend yes fairly settled weather but there will always be the chance of some showers particularly on Saturday.
00:32More about that in a moment. For the time being if you're stepping out across England and Wales after a muggy night it's a very warm start to the day with strong sunshine.
00:40Here's that weather front delivering clouds and some showery bursts for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
00:44Towards the north though there is a back edge to it so fresher air here, brighter skies, a few showers and a bit of a keen breeze coming in from the west.
00:54So we watch as this weather front very slowly moves down towards southern counties of Scotland as well as Northern Ireland.
01:00One or two moderate bursts can't be rolled out through the morning however this weather front will weaken as we head through the morning into the afternoon.
01:07So a drier scenario, the cloud will break at times and you'll see some fine conditions although it will feel cooler than yesterday.
01:15Notice a few showers developing across England and Wales.
01:19Now there's a risk these could turn thundery through the day with the risk also of some lightning associated with them.
01:25Here are your temperatures then through the afternoon.
01:28For Scotland 14 or 15 Celsius but 18 still for the central belt.
01:32Northern Ireland 15 or 16, 23 for Cumbria as well as Northumberland but further south those temperatures much higher.
01:39So we're talking really 28 for the Midlands, East Wales down towards the southeast at 29 degrees Celsius.
01:46And it's worth noting that UV levels will be moderate to high and there'll be some very high levels of tree pollen out there as well.
01:54So that's the picture this afternoon regards temperatures and they've pretty much been the talk of the town over the last few days.
01:59But temperatures will wane through the next few days into the weekend.
02:04And that weather front doing the same thing, really a little bit of clouds as we head through this evening and overnight.
02:09We hang on to some higher temperatures and some muggy air towards the south but much fresher across northern England as well as Northern Ireland.
02:16And that wind picks up some strength across the north as well as the west of Scotland into Friday again with a scattering of showers.
02:22Despite clouds across Scotland and Northern Ireland it should break at times allowing for some brighter weather.
02:28Further south you can see we're still hanging on to some warmth here.
02:31So 21 for the Midlands, 26 for the southeast of England, 22 for southern parts of Wales.
02:37But for Scotland 13 or 14 degrees Celsius, 14 or 15 for Northern Ireland.
02:42But notice some breaks allowing for some brighter skies but still a few showers filtering in across the far north and northwest with that brisk breeze.
02:51Brighter skies to end the day further south.
02:53Now on Saturday, chance of some showers across more southern areas.
02:58That wind then turns towards the northerly across more northern parts.
03:02Again delivering some showers particularly towards the east.
03:05A cold wind here but there will be some sunshine in between.
03:08So some fine conditions coming through.
03:10And temperatures 16, 17 across the central belt of Scotland.
03:1319 to 22 wherever you are further south.
