Transcript
00:00Oh my god, I'm so sorry. Are you okay?
00:05All right.
00:09Ted, Ted.
00:10Welcome to Ms. Mojo.
00:14And today we're counting down our picks for the funniest moments where Jason Segel messed up his lines,
00:20fooled around on set, or went way over the top in his acting,
00:24and it cracked up his co-stars on the sitcom How I Met Your Mother.
00:27Did you lose a sock here, little dude?
00:31Number 10. Fighting.
00:35Dude, fighting is for losers. We're civilized guys. Civilized guys don't fight.
00:40Unless it's with lightsabers, but that's like three to five years away, so.
00:43Jason Segel is hilarious in his role as Marshall Erickson,
00:46but some of his funniest moments on the show didn't make the final cut.
00:50In one scene, Marshall is talking about how he used to get into intense fights with his brothers.
00:54In the flashback of the fight, we see Marshall punching someone off camera,
00:58and in an improvised moment, Jason Segel acts as if he's fought a little too hard.
01:07He pretends that his victim isn't moving and looks panicked before running away.
01:12And while it clearly wouldn't have worked in the context of the scene,
01:15it was effective in cracking everyone up.
01:18Number 9. Barney, Lily, and Marshall get intimate.
01:29It's a tricycle.
01:30No way, no way, no way.
01:32It's a tricycle.
01:33During the episode in which Ted almost rides the tricycle, so to speak,
01:38there is also almost a bizarre menage a trois situation happening in his bedroom.
01:43Marshall, Barney, and Lily hide out there,
01:46and in an impromptu moment courtesy of Segel, things take a turn for the weird.
01:51First, he kisses Allison Hannigan,
01:53but things quickly escalate into all of them kissing one another,
01:56including Segel passionately kissing Neil Patrick Harris.
02:05Next thing you know, they're all messing around on the bed,
02:08and Segel even rips off his shirt.
02:10We don't know if Ted rode the tricycle or not that night,
02:13but it looks like Barney and Marshall could have claimed the belt in this scene.
02:16You actually bought a belt.
02:18That's right, it's resplendent.
02:20It was just a thing we said.
02:22We were kidding around.
02:23I never kid.
02:25Remember you said if I ever slept with that girl from Days of Our Lives,
02:27I'd be the king?
02:28Well.
02:32Number eight, turn your phones off.
02:35How hard can it be to name a baby?
02:37Right?
02:37Yeah.
02:37Just look at her.
02:38She's clearly a Lisa.
02:42Lisa?
02:42There have been a few bloopers throughout the series
02:47in which we see the actor's real-life phones going off during scenes.
02:51Just because someone has their phone on.
02:57In this episode in season six,
02:59not only does Jason Segel's phone go off,
03:01but he deals with it in one of the funniest ways imaginable.
03:05In this scene,
03:06Marshall and Lily are supposed to be looking at Stuart and Claudia's baby
03:09and thinking about what a good name would be for her.
03:12But the scene is thrown by Segel's phone going off,
03:15and then he goes off on the cast and crew,
03:17claiming that they've been doing the show for so long
03:20that everyone should know better right now.
03:22We love a self-aware king.
03:25Can we?
03:25Seriously, it's been six years.
03:27Turn your phones off.
03:29Number seven, ducks are good, rabbits are bad.
03:33Look at this picture.
03:34It's a rabbit.
03:36You can look at it for hours and be absolutely sure it's a rabbit.
03:40But then one day you look at it and you realize,
03:43wait a second, it's a duck.
03:45One of the most intense arguments the gang ever gets into
03:49is when they debate whether rabbits or ducks are better animals.
03:52But it turns out the scene could have been even more heated
03:55than the one that made it to air.
03:56Lily, Ted, and Robin are team duck,
03:59while Marshall is advocating endlessly for rabbits.
04:02And in some of the takes,
04:04Jason Segel gets incredibly fiery.
04:06Okay, okay, okay, okay, fine.
04:11This happens so intensely and so frequently
04:15that the cast struggles to keep it together.
04:18And we're right there with them.
04:19We're not sure which of the two animals reigns supreme,
04:22but we want to side with Marshall
04:24based solely on his passion about the subject.
04:26Okay, okay, fine.
04:32Number six, death by hiccup.
04:34It's clear that Marshall and Lily
04:45have a passionate, loving, and enviable relationship.
04:49Apparently, it's so strong
04:50that Marshall even struggles to fantasize
04:52about any other women.
04:53And in order to do so,
04:55he first needs to think of Lily dying
04:57from an incurable case of the hiccups.
04:59Makes sense, right?
05:00So in his fantasy world,
05:01when Lily finally succumbs to her hiccup syndrome,
05:04Marshall is a mess.
05:06I will never love again.
05:08No, Marshall, you must.
05:11And after an appropriate number of years,
05:14you should find someone else.
05:15But in one take,
05:17he takes his emotions a little too far.
05:19He screams in anguish while feeling Lily's face,
05:22and Allison Hannigan struggles to continue playing dead.
05:26But hey, we can't say we blame her.
05:28Oh God!
05:30Oh, not like this!
05:35Come on!
05:38Number five, can you do it without taking a bow?
05:41Hello, don't get up.
05:43Didn't we meet on a yacht?
05:45Hello.
05:45Pamela Fryman was the director
05:47of almost 200 episodes of the series.
05:49So she has certainly seen a lot of crazy stuff happen
05:52from behind the camera.
05:54Sometimes though,
05:54she's unable to keep her thoughts to herself.
05:57And we're so here for it.
05:58During one scene,
06:00Marshall expresses his disdain
06:01about being left out of Barney and Ted's tuxedo night.
06:05At the end of his line,
06:06he makes a gesture that prompts Fryman
06:08to ask him to try it again
06:09without taking a bow at the end.
06:11Just once,
06:12I wish you guys would call me on tuxedo night.
06:17Would you do it without taking a bow at the end?
06:19The cast, particularly Neil Patrick Harris,
06:24fall apart with laughter.
06:26And it's a moment that really shows
06:27how fun it must have been to work on this set.
06:29That's a great evening.
06:30Here we go.
06:31Ready, Chase?
06:33I'm not taking a bow.
06:36Number four, caramel apple cider.
06:39If anyone over there has their headphones on,
06:40I'd love a caramel apple cider from the coffee truck.
06:43Do you want not so much caramel?
06:45Not so much caramel.
06:46During the scene in which Lily, Ted, and Marshall
06:49are staking out to watch Robin and Barney's date
06:52and orchestrate their breakup,
06:54it's clear the cast has some downtime.
06:56Jason Segel takes advantage of this opportunity
06:58and makes a humorous request.
07:00He asks if anyone can get him a caramel apple cider
07:03and makes jokes about how hard he works for the show
07:06and that it's the least they can do for him.
07:09I mean, I work pretty hard for you guys.
07:11It would be really nice if someone got me an apple cider.
07:14You know what?
07:14You know, God forbid Jason Segel
07:16will get a break.
07:16As he continues to crack jokes about it,
07:19one of the crew members informs him
07:20that someone is fetching him the cider.
07:22And if everyone wasn't already rolling in the aisles,
07:25they certainly were after that.
07:27So if anyone could maybe
07:30just take a minute out of their day.
07:32Segel?
07:33Yeah.
07:34They're getting you.
07:38Number three, Joey Buttafuoco pants.
07:41Huh?
07:43Huh?
07:44Nice, right?
07:47I'm gonna have to say no.
07:48In this blooper,
07:49Jason Segel wasn't intentionally trying to make people laugh,
07:53but he ended up making everyone break in this scene,
07:55including himself.
07:56This moment shows Marshall trying to make a case to his friends
07:59as to why he should be allowed to keep his Joey Buttafuoco pants
08:03when Lily wants him to get rid of them.
08:05He hilariously dances through the living room
08:16in front of everyone,
08:17and he can't keep a straight face
08:19as he asks them about how great the pants are.
08:22They do several takes
08:23where no one is able to keep it together.
08:25And after watching their attempts,
08:27we're surprised they were able to get a usable take
08:29for the show at all.
08:39Number two, Child-Bearing Crackers.
08:41Wow.
08:43Really?
08:44So, I guess that Gouda
08:46just walked itself right through the door.
08:50Try and watch this blooper without laughing.
08:52We dare you.
08:53After Lily and Marshall crash and burn
08:55on their double date with Robin and Barney,
08:57they discuss what went wrong.
08:59Jason Siegel, as Marshall,
09:00intends to say that he prepared cheese
09:02to be put on cheese-bearing crackers,
09:05but he flubs the line and instead says,
09:07Child-Bearing Crackers.
09:09Sliced itself up
09:10and then arranged itself in a perfect semicircle
09:14around five different kinds
09:18of sturdy, child-bearing crackers.
09:21Child-bearing?
09:23It's a hilarious moment that breaks
09:25both Siegel and Hannigan immediately.
09:27And while we understand
09:28how he could confuse the line,
09:30the thought of child-bearing crackers
09:32totally breaks us up
09:33every time we watch this blooper.

09:54Number one, douche zombies.
09:57I want to eat you.
09:59F*** me.
10:09Siegel has made his cast members
10:11and even himself laugh
10:12with both his planned
10:13and unplanned moments on the show.
10:15And this one left both him
10:17and us in tears.
10:18When Ted gets back together with Karen,
10:20the gang has some strong opinions.
10:22Marshall perhaps has the most disdain
10:24for Ted's paramour
10:25and does a hilarious impersonation
10:27of Karen as a douche zombie.
10:30I want to eat your brain,
10:32but only if it's organic and grass-fed.
10:36His impression makes him laugh so hard
10:38that he struggles to get through
10:39a successful take.
10:41And he starts laughing so hard
10:42that he cries and even sweats,
10:45much to the amusement of his co-stars
10:46and his fans.
10:47It's the perfect funny Jason Siegel moment
10:50and it encompasses how fun of a person
10:52he really is.
10:54You're sweating.
10:55I know.
10:58Okay.
10:59I look normal, right?
