00:00The Oilers finished off the L.A. Kings for a fourth straight year.
00:06And they put six on them last night at Rogers.
00:09And now it's Vegas up next for the Oilers, who finished off the Wild.
00:16I'm watching that game again right now as we speak.
00:19They got it done as well.
00:20And they did it in St. Paul.
00:23What did you think of the Kings' failure again to handle Edmonton?
00:28And then what are your feelings about the conference semi?
00:33I think the Kings deserved better, but it's a cold world.
00:38And, you know, you can't just blame puck luck if you lose, you know, you lose a series in six games.
00:43It can't just be, well, we had a lot of bad luck.
00:46But for the love of God, the L.A. Kings had a lot of bad luck.
00:49I don't know if I've ever seen a team hit as many goalposts and crossbars, Scott, as the L.A. Kings did in this series.
00:55And in key moments, right, a couple of games ago when they blew the lead, the net was empty, hit the side of the post, barely.
01:04You know, if that goes in, the series is over right now.
01:07Last night, for the love of God, you know, the puck was in the crease like six times last night.
01:14It would not cross the line.
01:15It just, it was like an invisible wall.
01:18The puck would not cross the line for the L.A. Kings.
01:21Minnesota just aren't as good as Vegas.
01:23Like, I think, like, Minnesota, we're just sort of in it, in it, in it until we're not, right?
01:28Vegas are good at scoring late in periods.
01:31And, you know, I don't think Minnesota, I think L.A. sort of would have more regret right now.
01:36But I can't believe we lost again to this team.
01:38But it's pretty clear they can't beat, they can't beat the Edmonton Oilers.
01:43And, unfortunately for them, Gary Bettman has no interest in changing the ridiculously stupid playoff format that has the same teams playing every year for the most part.
01:52So, they're kind of stuck right now.
01:54There's nothing they can do.
01:56As far as the Oilers, though, Scott, look, two years ago, the Panthers lost in the Stanley Cup Finals.
02:03Made it back to the Finals and won.
02:05Maybe this is the path for the Oilers right now.
02:07Because the Oilers are a team, guys.
02:09They literally can't beat anybody.
02:11Like, they can beat anybody in the National Hockey League.
02:13They fell short against the Panthers last year.
02:15But now it's a reset, Scott.
02:19And if I'm the rest of the teams, if I'm in the Western Conference right now, I'm like, son of a bitch.
02:24I really wish, like, the Kings would have knocked the Oilers out.
02:27And Connor McDavid didn't even do anything.
02:30Didn't even do anything.
02:32You know what I mean?
02:32He was kind of another guy in the series.
02:35Like, you know what I mean?
02:36And trust me, he doesn't remain that way long.
02:40Like, you know what I mean?
02:40Like, he's going to wake up.
02:43And he's going to go on his little hot streak.
02:45And he's going to be like, oh, damn, now McDavid's hot, huh?
02:47And how about Pickard last night, Scott?
02:49I've said this for years, man.
02:51For years and years and years, Scott.
02:53Literally.
02:54Forever.
02:55People always talk about goaltending going into the playoffs.
02:57You need, you know, you need good goaltending.
02:59You need, you do.
03:00But you don't need a star goalie, bro.
03:03You don't need a star goalie.
03:04You need a hot goalie.
03:06You need a hot goalie.
03:08Exactly.
03:09Just hot.
03:10Don't have to be a star.
03:11Look at the Vegas Golden Knights when they won.
03:13Dude, they won with three different guys.
03:15Aiden Hill, Logan Thompson, Brassois came in.
03:17Like, you know what I mean?
03:19They all played well.
03:20Right now with Pickard, the guy's 33, 34 years old.
03:23He's been in the league forever.
03:25He's been a career backup.
03:26He's never been, you know, never been in this spot before.
03:29And I'll tell you right now, expect to see Skinner back in the future
03:33because this will sort of go in waves.
03:34He's hot right now.
03:36They'll take him out.
03:37Skinner will come in.
03:38The Oilers are dangerous, Scott.
03:40I think they're going to beat Vegas.
03:41Even though I was on the LA Kings, I'll take the Oilers to beat Vegas.
03:44Yeah, listen.
03:45I've been on them for three months.
03:47I said that they'd win the Stanley Cup this year because of that attack of theirs.
03:52Like, they come in waves.
03:54And they have so many guys that can score that have talent, I think, offensively.
03:59And then physically, I think they're fine defensively.
04:02And it's always been the same problem with them.
04:04But they crawled back from 3-0 down to 3-3 in the Stanley Cup final and lost.
04:09Bottom line is, it's like you said, they can beat anybody.
04:12So, the question begs, Dallas and the Avs go to Game 7 in Dallas.
04:18DeBoer's never lost to Game 7.
04:20So, let's say, assuming they finish it off, and Winnipeg and the Blues play tonight in St. Louis.
04:26I actually like the Blues.
04:27I think Game 7 in Varela Pegg is going to be the key.
04:32Let's say, you guess, who do you think wins that game?
04:37And then, I actually think Dallas will go to the Western Semi.
04:41And I think they'll beat whoever wins that Winnipeg Blues Game 7.
04:46Dallas or another team that is starting to dial things up a bit, right?
04:51I mean, listen, Scott, I was big.
04:53I picked the Dallas Stars to play the Carolina Hurricanes in the Stanley Cup like two months ago.
04:58I said it'll be an all-self NASCAR type of Stanley Cup final.
05:01It could still happen.
05:03It still could.
05:04But, unfortunately, I let the outside noise get to me, which can happen to you sometimes.
05:10But, oh, the Stars have all these injuries.
05:12And I bought into it.
05:14I was like, you know what?
05:14They really are shorthanded right now.
05:16Going into Colorado, it's going to be a problem for them.
05:19Colorado weren't that good.
05:20Colorado, like you said about Edmonton, Scott.
05:22Dude, there's like 10 guys that can score.
05:25It's like, oh, yeah, I forgot about him.
05:26It's like, oh, really?
05:27Nugent Hopkins, huh?
05:28Oh, yeah, Hyman just scored.
05:29Not to mention their defense, bro.
05:31Nurse is a killer.
05:32You know what I mean?
05:33The dude's a psycho back there.
05:35Bouchard's got one of the hardest shots in the league.
05:37Like, those guys, like, they tee it up.
05:39But Dallas are a damn good hockey team.
05:41They're a great team.
05:43Like, they're just good, good.
05:44So, I could see, I'm going to say Dallas.
05:46I would say Dallas, Scott, the way that they're playing right now.
05:49I think Dallas is going to beat Colorado.
05:51And then I think Edmonton will beat Dallas.
05:53And then we'll see you next time.
05:53Thanks, Scott.
