00:00What did you think of that Edmonton comeback?
00:02Absolutely epic.
00:04And it was almost, it was like a throwback, Scott, to 1982
00:09and the miracle on Manchester,
00:12except, of course, the L.A. Kings came back.
00:16You know, the Edmonton Oilers stormed back.
00:18They scored two late empty net goals
00:20only to have the L.A. Kings score with 41 seconds left.
00:26Absolutely electric night last night.
00:28And I really should be richer than I am, Scott,
00:31because I'm going to predict in the future.
00:33I tweeted, I posted on Saturday night or Sunday morning or whatever.
00:38I said, ah, the playoffs will really start on Monday.
00:40I said, this all sucks.
00:42I said, it'll really start with the Capitals and the Canadians
00:45and the Oilers and the Kings.
00:47And this Clipper Nugget series is just lit as well.
00:49That's great basketball.
00:51The Knick game was good last night.
00:54But listen, I think this is a different L.A. King team, right?
00:58In the past, the L.A. Kings, what were they known for, kind of?
01:01You know what?
01:01Yeah, they're good defensively, but they lack firepower.
01:05They're a good regular season team, but they have a –
01:08their ceiling is kind of low, right?
01:11They don't have that next level.
01:13Yet we see this year, and we see with this Kings team,
01:16if the Kings are going to win six, five hockey games,
01:19the rest of the league is in trouble.
01:20This is a dangerous team.
01:22They've only lost six times all year in regulation at home, right?
01:26So they really are a dominant home team.
01:29They defend home ice.
01:30They're going to have to do it again.
01:32I really think, and it sort of leads us into tonight a bit, Scott,
01:35that the L.A. Kings did not hide it.
01:38I mean, you can't fake it.
01:40You can't say, oh, no, it's just another series.
01:42They've lost to the Edmonton Oilers three years in a row, bro.
01:45Right.
01:45You know what I mean?
01:46They didn't hide it.
01:47Like Drew Doughty basically said, yeah, it sucks,
01:49and we don't want to lose to this team again.
01:53He said he feels more confident about this team than they have in the past,
01:56and I would agree with him.
01:58I think the Kings are poised for a deep run, Scott.
02:00I think they're going to win the series.
02:02I predicted the Kings in seven.
02:04I still think it's going to be a long series,
02:06but I think the Kings win in this series,
02:08and they're a very good hockey team, Scott.
02:11They're very, very tough, and they're a good road team too.
02:13So the combination of the both, the Western Conference is just lit,
02:18but I think Edmonton is just going to be a day late and a dollar short
02:21in this series, and same thing with Tampa.
02:24They've been eliminated three years in a row in the first round of the playoffs.
02:27So wait, Edmonton, hold on.
02:29Hold that thought because we'll get into that game in a minute,
02:32but take me back to Edmonton for a second.
02:34So last year they were down 3-0 in the final,
02:37and they came back and lost in seven.
02:39So they'll never live that down, basically.
02:44They were down 3, came all the way back, and lost.
02:48A lot of people, including myself,
02:49thought that they would come back this year and make it to the final
02:52because they're that good, that fast, that deep.
02:56And now they're looking like they're in trouble already,
02:59even though I thought it was a hell of a comeback,
03:02and they're not to be written off yet.
03:04I mean, the way they scored was impressive.
03:06But what do you think of how they lost last year and who they are now?
03:11You don't think they're capable, obviously, of doing it.
03:13You think they're gone in this series?
03:15I don't think they're the same team.
03:16I think both Stanley Cup participants are going to get bounced in the first round
03:20this year.
03:22I got Tampa beating Florida as well, but Edmonton are beat up.
03:26And, you know, it's tough.
03:28Edmonton are a lot like the Buffalo Bills.
03:29It's hard to get knocked down the mountain every year and climb back up
03:35and just say, all right, we're going to do it again.
03:36We're going to do it again.
03:37We're going to do it again.
03:38You know, psychologically it's tough.
03:40But then just physically, are you healthy?
03:43This isn't the same Oiler team going into the playoffs as last year right now.
03:47Their confidence is shaking.
03:49Dude, they went like 17 minutes without a shot on goal last night.
03:53Like, you know, they literally went 16 minutes, 16.52, without a shot on goal.
03:57Like, the Oilers are a strange team, Scott, in that, bro, like, they just come at you
04:03in waves where you saw the last five minutes of the game.
04:06It was like, oh, my God.
04:07Like, you can't stop this.
04:09And now, but they're also a team capable of digging themselves a hole as well.
04:14So, listen, you can never write this Oiler team off.
04:16We saw it last year.
04:17We saw it last night.
04:19They have no quit in them.
04:20They're never going to quit.
04:22They're a dangerous team.
04:23They're a very, very good hockey team, Scott.
04:25But I just think the L.A. Kings are going to get the better of them.
04:28And I don't like to overemphasize home ice, home court, home field.
04:31It doesn't mean as much in the modern era anymore.
04:34But home ice advantage does matter to the L.A. Kings.
04:37Like I said, these guys are 32-6 on their home ice.
