00:00So I'm watching this press conference and and I didn't notice at the time, at the moment, like all I all I heard was this guy.
00:11I'm being honest. All I heard was this guy arguing with a reporter.
00:15So I come into work to do the show the next day.
00:20And then Carver, I was like, that was Denny.
00:22And so then because I sent the clip to the show, I said, I want this clip on the air because I just heard him.
00:29Arguing with reporters. And I was like, air that. I want to air this guy losing it with reporters.
00:35But Carver, I was like, that was Elvis. And I was like, but then he ran the clip and I was like, then I heard your voice because I originally never heard your voice.
00:45All I heard was Hiller. Is that his name? I heard him. Yeah, I heard him arguing with people.
00:51And that's that's what I was like interested in was this guy arguing with people.
00:56But when then I got really interested when I knew it was you.
01:00And then I was like, I said on the show yesterday, I said, that was a completely, utterly awesome job by you.
01:08Totally, you know, legit question. Oh, yes.
01:12And then he he added that all you ever do is ask him that question.
01:18Meanwhile, that's the question I would ask him every time as they continue to melt down and lose games.
01:23That's exactly what I would want a journalist if I were teaching J school and journalism and broadcast sports of how to interview people that are, you know, like difficult, like Bob Knight or whatever.
01:37You have to ask tough questions and you ask the tough questions.
01:41He didn't like him because he has no answers for how bad they keep melting down.
01:46So kudos to you. And I was off my because he went to the next reporter who works for the Kings asked a question and he went back at me after that.
01:55And I said to him, it happened three times. And that's the problem.
01:59You look at games one, three and four. The Oilers scored 10 goals in the third period of three games.
02:06So how are you going to change your approach? And I will tell you this, not only you, I couldn't tell you how many people in the media reached out to me and saying that was like, how could you not ask that question?
02:16How could not be a fair question? And you're right. They don't have answers.
02:20Well, here's the answer. Play the last period like you play the first two periods. Very simple answer.
02:25Don't back off. Don't go in a shell. Don't let the ice tilt in the other team's favor because it's going to wind up biting you in the butt.
02:32It's three times in a row. So let's get down to the brass tacks of this.
02:38What are the Kings? Because you're legit. You're big time. What do they think of you now?
02:45Are they mad at you because you ask tough questions? They don't like you now? Obviously, Hiller doesn't like you.
02:51No. Well, no. Behind the scenes, I'm well-liked. And nobody had a problem with it in the organization.
02:56And I'll tell you this, Scotty. Today at Morning Skate, Jim Hiller came in and was contrite.
03:00And he never said he was sorry, but he wanted a reset. So that tells me that, look, he had a bad 72 hours in Edmonton.
03:09Both those games, it's been a very emotional for this organization. They haven't beat this team in four years.
03:13They were on the way to dominating the series. You know, in a position where you always have to win four out of five.
03:20But he'll ask for a reset. And, Scotty, you would have loved it as a guy who's been around the block a million times.
03:24I sat there stone-faced for, like, 30 seconds. I just looked at him. I go, okay, we can have a reset.
03:30So I played my best poker face, but it's in the past. We've moved on.
03:34So you don't have a problem with the guy? You don't have a problem with the guy.
03:38You're just being a journalist and a reporter asking tough questions.
03:43You don't have a question.
