00:00Good morning and welcome along to the first bank holiday weekend of the month.
00:05You know what? The weather's going to be okay for this bank holiday weekend too.
00:09A lot of dry weather, many places seeing some sunshine, just
00:12quite a bit colder than it has been. And it is starting a little grey over
00:16southern Scotland, Northern Ireland, some drizzly rain here but that should
00:20scoot away to the south. There's a few showers coming in across northern
00:23Scotland. The far south of England there is the
00:25threat of these showers in the channel just drifting north at times. So
00:29the possibility of a shower or two here certainly over the channel hours but
00:33the vast majority I think will stay dry. We'll see the cloud increasing over the
00:37Midlands and Wales but then some sunnier skies following to
00:40Northern Ireland and southern Scotland. The showers in the far north,
00:44well they should tend to fade away through the day but
00:46look at where the wind is coming from and that'll tell you
00:49why things are cooling off. Still reasonably warm in the south but
00:55even here quite a bit cooler than it has been over recent days but we might even
00:58squeak up to 23 degrees celsius. Further north we're looking at
01:02temperatures in the mid teens so safe through the central belt of
01:04Scotland 15-16 as it could be in Glasgow. That's still above average for the
01:08time of year but it will feel pretty fresh in Northern Scotland and along some
01:13of these North Sea coasts with that brisk wind bringing the chill from the
01:17north. That'll continue to push away any
01:20showers from the south coast during the evening.
01:22In fact most places having a dry night. Still some more showers coming in over the
01:26Northern Isles and the northeast of mainland Scotland and it's pretty cold with that wind
01:32especially over the mountain top so be aware of that heading out into the hills
01:35across Scotland through this weekend. Elsewhere though most places having a dry night
01:40again some lengthy clear spells with the colder air in place
01:44a noticeable chillier start to Sunday across the south
01:48compared to this morning temperatures could be well down into single figures and
01:51pockets of frost possible across Northern Britain so gardeners take note of that. You
01:56don't want to be planting any delicate plants this weekend. Still the potential for frost as
02:01things turn colder through the weekend. Yeah then Sunday's weather is quite cloudy in the east
02:06cloud bubbling up pretty quickly here. There will be a few showers across eastern England,
02:09eastern Scotland but they should be fairly light and they should be tending to move through again
02:13a lot of dry weather. Certainly in the west quite a bit of sunny weather I suspect on
02:18Sunday as well. The wind will make a big difference so a real chill on these North Sea Coast again where
02:24we may struggle to get out of single figures but for the west temperatures in the mid-teens might
02:29even squeak a little bit higher in places so these kind of values are still around or even a touch above
02:34average for the time of year but because it's been so warm you will notice that drop off and it will
02:41feel fresh again in eastern areas on Monday particularly eastern England. The winds may ease off completely across
02:47Scotland and so here with sunshine and Northern Ireland a pretty good looking day for the bank
02:52holiday. A bit more cloud for England and Wales on Monday. Small chance of some early showers but
02:57again a lot of dry weather, a lot of fine weather to be had. Again a chill on those North Sea Coast with
03:02the wind coming in from the sea but elsewhere temperatures getting into the mid-teens a little
03:06bit higher in parts of Scotland so again around or maybe a touch above average but below average on
03:13those easternmost coasts. And quite a big shock to the system just because we're seeing a drop in
03:17temperatures. This map is showing the change in temperatures on Monday when compared to Friday.
03:22You can see a big drop particularly across the southeast. So yes it is turning cooler but still
03:28a lot of fine weather to be enjoyed this bank holiday weekend and of course you can stay up to date by
03:34following us on social media and if you're after something to do you can watch our live video available on
