00:00That's a 3-1 lead for the Golden State Warriors.
00:04Did they win?
00:05You were in the building!
00:06It was more than nerve-wracking.
00:08It was bananas.
00:09I mean, they opened up with a 13-2, and Grandy had it 16-4.
00:14And it's like, the crowd, the roars, the warrior chants.
00:17I thought that I was in Oakland.
00:19And it was amazing.
00:20The crowd was great.
00:21The t-shirts were on.
00:23And, you know, Houston chipped away, and they chipped away, they chipped away.
00:26And the crowd got a little bit quieter.
00:28But I give the crowd a ton of credit because they were in it.
00:32There was a blank-you-Dillon chants in the fourth quarter.
00:36There was a lot of ref-you-suck going on, which, you know, doesn't really hit me the same way it does most people.
00:42But the crowd was into it.
00:44The thunder sticks that I know trigger you from the Angels back in the day.
00:492002.
00:50How you doing?
00:51I probably should get over it by now.
00:53You probably should 23 years ago.
00:55The crowd was into it.
00:56They were animated.
00:57They were awesome.
00:58And I was just so happy to be in the building.
01:00I can't wait to, for everybody, by the way, all of you two.
01:05This is one of those games where it's kind of like, give us a call and share your perspective.
01:09How did you watch this one and sort of like, what stood out?
01:14Dibs and Grandy were in the building.
01:15I was at Splash next door.
01:17The chicken nachos didn't disappoint again.
01:19Okay, good, good.
01:20Incredible.
01:20And how was the crowd at Splash?
01:22I'm sure he was like beyond full.
01:24Oh my God.
01:24Out of control.
01:25Okay.
01:25Out of control.
01:26Yeah.
01:27Like, there's nothing.
01:27Like, I love being at a great sports bar restaurant.
01:30In every screen on the game?
01:32Every screen.
01:33There wasn't like one golf channel in the corner or like tennis channel.
01:37Yeah, we got Lumberjacks in the high right corner.
01:40The quarterfinals at Monte Carlo.
01:41All Warriors.
01:42Okay.
01:43Music during the commercials.
01:45Oh, nice.
01:45In the second half.
01:46Okay.
01:47This is getting late.
01:47First half, they went in and played the commercials.
01:49Like, it's a little hot for a commercial.
01:51It's a little much.
01:52You know what I mean?
01:53But then music during the commercials in the second half.
01:56And then all sound right between the eyes.
01:59Kevin Harlan.
02:00Okay.
02:00Is giving it to us there.
02:01Every TV, every table, every person making friends, buying shots.
02:07Oh, so good.
02:08Do shots on a Monday night.
02:09And shout out to our new friends, Jacob and Shane, who listen to the show religiously.
02:14I see you guys.
02:16And I didn't have so much that I didn't remember your names either.
02:18Jacob and Shane.
02:19Thank you for saying hi.
02:21Jacob and Shane.
02:21It's the first shot I've done on a Monday night in about, oh, ever.
02:25Great.
02:25Let's drink.
02:26I'm proud of you.
02:28How about some shots?
02:29Dude, bring it.
02:30It was a big game.
02:31It was before the game even started.
02:32Oh, my God.
02:33I'm like, sure.
02:34We're not going anywhere for three and a half hours.
02:36Yeah, yeah.
02:36And little did I know, it was more like four.
02:38That felt like the longest game in history.
02:41But yeah, like we want to really hear how everybody soaked this thing in because, dibs,
02:47that was my takeaway.
02:49New found, if this can even happen, new level of appreciation for Jimmy Butler because it's,
02:58and I don't want to make it sound like it's all about him, but he's the one who re-elevated
03:03it.
03:03A re-elevation sensation.
03:05That's a couple of bucks, I think.
03:07This is never not going to be Steph's house, but the last couple of years have been frustrating
03:13in that it feels like, okay, dynasty dying.
03:16Let's just enjoy Steph.
03:18Oh, we'll make the playoffs if we can.
03:20I get blown out in the play-in tournament.
03:23And that's kind of the, like, that was our sphere for a couple of years.
03:27And when I saw that rebound and what Chase both looked like and sounded like, rewind four
03:36years, that's what it felt like all over again.
03:40Jimmy Butler has brought the warrior basketball that we know for the last 12 years, he brought
03:47it back.
03:47Yeah.
03:48He brought it back.
03:48And I knew he was a great player.
03:50I didn't know he was this great of a team player.
03:54Dude, that rundown of Dylan Brooks that you guys just brought up, he looked like somebody
04:00who's running the bathroom who had to go.
04:02Because he can't move.
04:04He can't move.
04:05That was so gutsy last night from Jimmy Butler.
04:10And to end up as the leading scorer and make the big plays in the final minute on both
04:14sides of the ball, I don't know, man.
04:16I don't know.
04:17I don't know what's, I cannot be more impressed and inspired by what this guy has done for
04:22warrior basketball in the last two and a half months.
04:24It's really, for me, that entire fourth quarter.
04:28And the Warriors had 27 points and he had 14 of them.
04:31And that means that the greatest player in franchise history had three points.
04:35Steph Curry hit all three in the fourth quarter.
04:38And, you know, he played eight minutes and he was largely being harassed and guarded and
04:43hounded and the rest of it.
04:44But Jimmy Butler, when you got down to the final three minutes, every possession was,
04:48all right, Jimmy, we're going to give it to you.
04:50And, you know, there was one possession where Steph and he ran a little screen roll on the
04:54left side or the right side.
04:55It was my left and their right.
04:57And, you know, Steph got it back and then back to Jimmy and let Jimmy cook and let Jimmy
05:01get to the foul line.
05:02And he had a couple of layup attempts that were painstaking.
05:05He missed one and GP2 had to put back.
05:08And he missed.
05:09And it's like, oh, maybe it's not going to happen tonight.
05:12And then you go down the other end and, you know, Draymond's in there and you get a big
05:15stop and a big rebound.
05:17And it was so much nail biting where the Warriors had chances and then the Rockets had chances.
05:22And it came down to, you're right, Jimmy Butler.
05:25And the whole thing about playoff Jimmy and Himmy Butler and all the other nicknames that
05:31we've heard about, we're now seeing it up close and personal exactly what that is.
05:35I just, man, you just said it.
05:39This game, I don't know if y'all felt the same.
05:41I don't know if you felt the same way.
05:43You and I watch a little bit differently sometimes, too.
05:45That was stressful.
05:46I found that to be, and not not enjoyable.
05:50It was very enjoyable, but it was stressful and it was drawn out because it was so damn
05:55long.
05:56I think halftime happened at nine o'clock.
05:59Nine o'clock.
06:00It's about right.
06:01And I got, I got Dubs fans on the East Coast.
06:04I'm like, y'all okay?
06:06Dude, you got to work in the morning.
06:07And they're like, it's halftime and it's midnight out here.
06:11That thing was so drawn out.
06:13And what you just said, where it's like, oh, certain possessions, maybe it's not their
06:18night.
06:19My mind kept oscillating back and forth between three, one and two, two, three, one and two,
06:27two, three, one and two, two.
06:29And you're just like, dude, that's so different.
06:32That's so, so different.
06:34And so constantly from the way both halves started to where you're like, yeah, kick the
06:40feet up.
06:40This could be an easy one.
06:42Oh yeah.
06:42And then nope, here they come and it would get erased and you're like, we're going to
06:46lose.
06:47It's going to be two, two and Jimmy can barely run.
06:50And this just isn't looking very good.
06:52And then Buddy would hit a contested three.
06:54Oh buddy.
06:55And you're like, we're going to win the championship.
06:57Like the whole thing is such, it's such a, it's an oscillation sensation.
07:04It is.
07:04It's just so back and forth.
07:06And pay the over on Buddy references because I said Buddy's name probably 20, 23 times.
07:12We said the over on how many times will you say the word Buddy watching the game and you,
07:17you put it at four and a half and I said five and a half.
07:19And for me, it was probably 23 and at least three or four of them were an MF and Buddy.
07:24And I know there's no cheering in the press box and I'm not really in a press box.
07:30You're not in the box.
07:30I'm in a press section, but it was so loud that there were a couple of times you could
07:35hear like, and it's like, oh, that's a press member.
07:38And I was one row behind and one row over from Grandy and Evan.
07:43Who was it?
07:43I don't know who it was.
07:44You didn't cheer?
07:45Uh, there was one moment where I went, oh, there was a growl and it was probably the Buddy
07:51Heald step back three where that might've been the white.
07:55No, buddy.
07:56No.
07:56Yes, buddy.
07:57Yes.
07:58Cause there was a few of those.
07:59Nobody know.
08:01Yes, buddy.
08:01Yes.
08:02There was a few of those.
08:03If he did like, if he does anything other than shoot in a wide open space, it's no, no,
08:09no, no, no, no, no.
08:10Yes.
08:11Love you, buddy.
08:12I want to do some stuff with Buddy Heald later on the show.
08:15He gotta, he gotta have his own 45 minutes today.
08:18We're going to clear.
08:18We're going to do a Buddy Heald clear out.
08:20We're going to give him his whole half of the court.
08:22I love it.
08:23I want to talk about him, but granted, did you cheer at all?
08:26Did you?
08:27No, no cheering allowed.
08:28No, no cheering allowed.
08:29I mean, it's not like I'm cheering.
08:31Like I'm up in my, out of my seat, fist pumping, but there were a couple of times where I made
08:36audible noises that were not like, oh, I'm going to go ahead and write that in my sturdy
08:41little notebook.
08:42And one of them was when Buddy hit that step back three to give him the lead.
08:46Cause they were down four and it's like, oh God, that's okay.
08:50They're down four.
08:51And you know, Van Vliet hit the three to put them up for it.
08:54It's like, okay, if this guy's going to do that, well then tip your cap.
08:58Exactly.
08:59But I wasn't ready to like white flag it, but I was like, okay, if this is what we're doing,
09:03if Fred Van Vliet is going to go for 30, then what are we doing?
09:07I know.
09:08I mean, I had somebody tweeted at us actually during the game, I thought you guys said this
09:12guy stunk.
09:13I'm like, he does.
09:14I know Mike.
09:15Like don't, don't, don't do that.
09:17That's you're being like my dad.
09:19I always joke about this.
09:20My dad, this would be a great example.
09:22If my dad were to, and he now lives in LA and he's, he's to be not coming up here to
09:27go to a Giants game.
09:28But if he were to go to a Giants game this year and let's say Jung Hoo Lee took an 0 for
09:334, he'd be like, I don't know what you're all talking about.
09:36This guy sucks.
09:37He would take the one game and he would be like, well, I saw him.
09:42I went and watched him.
09:43He sucks.
09:44Don't do that.
09:45The opposite with Fred Van Vliet.
09:47Don't decide now that Fred Van Vliet, and I loved it, Reggie Miller, he's a champion and
09:51he's got experience.
09:52Yeah.
09:52These are all true.
09:53They're facts.
09:54He sucks.
09:55Well, he didn't last night.
09:56Then he found the zone.
09:58Welcome to the zone.
10:01I'm going to bet on the under for Fred Van Vliet's points the rest of the series.
10:05And you're probably safe to do that, but when Fred Van Vliet was on Toronto and they beat
10:08the Warriors, I know the Warriors, he was awesome in that series.
10:12And they suffered, the Warriors did a couple of calamities, but Fred Van Vliet was better.
10:18And so I'm watching that and I'm thinking, okay, is this guy going to really do this?
10:22If he does, then okay, I don't know what to say.
10:25Right.
10:25What do you do?
10:26It's like Jalen Green in game two.
10:27It's like, what do you do?
10:28Right.
10:28That guy's absolutely out of his mind right now.
10:30Jimmy scores to cut it to two, and then Buddy with the step back, and it was a classic
10:35no, no, no, yes, yes, yes moment.
10:37And it was like, Buddy!
10:39And then...
10:40In Shen Goon's face.
10:41Like, what are you even doing?
10:43Yeah.
10:44What are you even trying to do?
10:45And then it goes in.
10:46Yeah.
10:47It goes in, because that's Buddy.
10:48I mean, and we can talk about pods, and we will, and everything that pods brought to
10:53the table, and, you know, Steph Curry, if you have Steph Curry play like that, which he
10:59wasn't bad, but he wasn't Steph Curry.
11:01He was off.
11:02Yeah.
11:03He had, what, three air balls?
11:04A couple air balls, yeah.
11:05The Warriors had three straight air balls.
11:07Well, Draymond's was the funniest.
11:09Oh, God.
11:09Because he had nothing but space, and he, dude, he wound up, he's like, all right, I
11:13got this, and then he let it fly, and then he posed.
11:16Yeah, I know what you're going to say, Randy.
11:17He did the white man can't jump pose, and he held his hand there, and he hit nothing.
11:23Well, he hit the net.
11:24He hit, yeah, nothing but net.
11:25And our perspective, Gibbs and I perspective, and all the fans on this side of the, on that
11:30side of the court, everyone thought it was in, and there was this particular group of
11:35fans, a particular couple to my left, that for like 30 seconds after, still thought
11:41it was in, and they were the only two up in the section celebrating.
11:44They looked around, eventually figured out it was an air ball, and as quick as possible,
11:48sat down.
11:49Oh, my God.
11:49There was a good, like.
11:50That was the funniest shot that I've seen this past season.
11:52There was a good 300 fans to their left who were, rah.
11:56So, I see, I kind of see out of the corner of my eye that it's an air ball, but I hear
12:01the, rah.
12:02And so, I look at them, and then I look back at the court, and my friend, who's an
12:05ESPN producer, and I'll get her name by the end of the show, she's like, oh, no, that
12:09was an air ball.
12:10That was an air ball.
12:10I didn't go in.
12:11And I was like, it's these damn cataracts.
12:13I don't know what to tell you, Jessica.
12:15Oh, my God.
12:17But the crowd would want you.
12:18It was easily, like, no, again, one of those things where, when you look back on it,
12:23because they won, it's funny.
12:25Oh, hilarious.
12:26Right?
12:26It's kind of like the officiating.
12:29Didn't everybody, you're all ticked off.
12:31Like, you are, you're ready for a firmly worded email, and then they win, and you're
12:36like, ah, they got a tough job, those refs.
12:38We can get into that.
12:39We can get into it.
12:41We'll get into it.
12:41You know.
12:42They lost control of the game.
12:44They did.
12:45But then they got control back.
12:47And that's what they did.
12:48Nobody wants to ever, like.
12:49I didn't have a huge issue with the refs.
12:51I did in the moment, though, just because I didn't, I didn't understand a lot of what
12:56they came out from their reviews to say.
12:58I'm like, I don't, I don't understand what you're even talking about.
13:01Right.
13:02Right.
13:02Right.
