00:01I'm always amazed when my colleagues on the other side of the aisle ignore the fact that these EVs require power.
00:08Somehow they get charged from the magic fairy dust of the magic energy tree.
00:15I mean, what are we talking about here?
00:16How do you power up an electric vehicle?
00:20Burning coal, burning gas, the nuclear plants that we're not actually permitting or building in the United States,
00:27while China builds two coal-fired plants virtually every week?
00:31We're building none. Well, good for us.
00:34But the vast majority of the world is producing power with coal, natural gas, and it is growing exponentially.
00:42Meanwhile, we are crushing our grid, the reliability of American power, making it more expensive for the average American,
00:47and doing really nothing about worldwide CO2 production.
00:52That's the truth. China and India are pumping it out.
00:56And meanwhile, my colleagues love to ignore the slave labor in China to produce the batteries that they drive around in their EVs
01:08while they pat themselves on the back and go to cocktail parties,
01:12talking about how fantastic it is that they drive their EVs and how enlightened they are.
01:18I'd introduce three articles into the record.
01:23Like slave and master, DRC miners toil for pennies an hour to fuel electric cars.
01:31In The Guardian, EV makers' use of Chinese suppliers raise concerns about forced labor.
01:36The U.S. says Chinese lithium-ion batteries are made with child labor as trade war spills into EVs.
01:43The fact of the matter is, my colleagues on the other side of the aisle want to parade around EV mandates
01:48like they're somehow going to magically create power out of thin air,
01:54ignoring the fact we're empowering China, ignore the fact we're empowering Chinese child laborers,
02:00while we destroy the cost of living for the average American family,
02:04take away choice, take away the ability of an American citizen to be able to go out into the market
02:09and buy a hybrid vehicle or another vehicle that they can use to travel long distances,
02:13do their job, whether they're a plumber, whether they're an electrician,
02:16whether they're carrying goods and services in a truck,
02:18and then they wonder why the cost of goods and services go up.
02:22And then they want to blame tariffs when we're 90 days in
02:25and we had massive and rampant inflation under the Biden administration
02:29as a direct consequence of the regulatory policies
02:32and the failed policies of the previous administration.
02:36I reserve.
