AccuWeather's Geoff Cornish tracked ongoing tornado warnings in Minnesota on the evening of April 28 as storm chaser Aaron Jayjack provided a live look on the ground.
Transcript
00:00Another cell is being tracked by storm chaser Aaron Jajak.
00:03He's live in Brycelain, Minnesota, the southern part of the state here,
00:07with another cell that is on the move, and that's bringing a tornado risk too.
00:10So, Aaron, have you seen any funnel clouds out of this one at this point?
00:17No, I haven't seen any tornadoes, no funnel clouds.
00:20You know, this storm is moving rapidly off to the northeast.
00:22This is it back here, back behind me.
00:24You can see it racing up to here.
00:26We've got a gust front here extending down to the south.
00:29It's pushing cold outflow down out this direction where I'm at right now.
00:33You can see the turbulent skies up above me here.
00:36It looks like if you're a storm chaser and you see this scene,
00:39you can tell that this is a cold sky right now.
00:41But this storm is racing off to the northeast.
00:44It is tornado-worn.
00:45You can see flashes of lightning in there occasionally.
00:48I'm not able to keep up with it.
00:49I actually raced way out ahead of it to the east
00:51and then shot up to the north to try and get ahead of it.
00:54And it's moving so fast off to the northeast.
00:56Even doing that, I was unable to keep up with the storm right now.
00:59So it is moving off to the northeast.
01:01Further back to the southwest, I just went through the town of Wells, Minnesota.
01:06And they've been running the sirens there because they are just outside of that tornado warning area.
01:11But further down the line, we have more storms working their way here into southern Minnesota
01:15as all these storms move off to the east towards the I-35 corridor.
01:19Now, they will be reaching that I-35 corridor that goes up into Minneapolis here within the next hour or so.
01:24So I'll be tracking these storms off to the east, trying to get out ahead of these storms.
01:28I'll probably drop down to a storm further down the line to the south now.
01:31This thing is racing so fast off to the northeast.
01:33Back to you guys.
01:34All right, Aaron.
01:35We appreciate that report.
01:36I see the latest update here for this tornado warning is now down to a radar indicated.
01:43It was confirmed because of a funnel cloud report earlier near Winnebago.
01:47But this is racing, and as we continue to track this cell here up through parts of southeastern sections of the area of Blue Earth County
01:55and southwestern Waseca County, again, we're down to a radar indicated.
02:00I know this says confirmed.
02:01That's because the initial issuance of the warning kind of overrides what's going on right now
02:06because that's a higher-tiered thing.
02:08But, again, we have the red outbound, the green inbound.
02:12Again, still some rotation here.
02:14We've got to keep an eye on this cell as it's cruising northeast at around 60 miles per hour.
02:19Waseca and Otseco, we're dealing with, again, a couple of different cells here.
02:24But the greater risk here when I compare apples to apples really I think is going to be with this northern cell
02:29that's creeping up and racing up into southern parts of Rice County as the strong outbound and inbound.
02:34This is a more clear-cut area of rotation moving through an area approaching Warsaw.
02:39And, again, there's the most recent radar data continuing to indicate rotation here.
02:45Very close to Warsaw.
02:46If you're in Warsaw or Deerfield in southern Rice or northern Steele County of Minnesota,
02:50extreme northeastern Waseca County, take shelter as you have a tornado risk in your area.
02:54And this is embedded within an area here with a squall line that's going to bring some straight-line winds as well.
03:00And that's also bringing a tornado risk to some areas as well as a hail risk.
03:05So it's kind of the triple play there between the tornado hail and also the tornado hail and straight-line wind threat.
03:12And there is the view, again, from Aaron's camera lens showing us that cloud base there and some heavy rain coming down.
03:18And it is kind of a colder-looking sky here as that rain-cooled air races on in.
