00:00Have you ever seen anything worse than seeing that kid showing a briefcase full of money at his party after he was drafted in the fifth round?
00:07Let me tell you something.
00:08He's going to be in for a rude awakening when they see that first offer they make him in Cleveland that isn't worth Jack compared to what those first and second rounders make.
00:16I know.
00:16So you talk about your doorstanders, obviously, Scott.
00:18So obviously that was a big story for us on SportsGrid.
00:21I mean, on Thursday and Friday night on our coverage, which was, listen, it set the table up for everything.
00:26It really did because, Scott, you and I have talked about for a number of weeks and months how this quarterback draft is not very good.
00:34It kind of played out that way.
00:36You and I talked during the week.
00:37I said, Shooter's probably not going to go to Pittsburgh.
00:39Doesn't sound like they want him.
00:40But I never saw him go into the fifth round.
00:42That was a stunner.
00:43We'll get into the reasons for a second.
00:44But I will tell you that him going to Cleveland, the two teams I thought of on Friday and it would play out, is Cleveland and Miami were the two best places for him for the future.
00:55Why?
00:55Miami, because of Tua's injury history, Zach Wolf was the backup.
01:00So that was an obvious good landing spot, potentially.
01:02And then Cleveland, Scott, Flacco, one-year deal.
01:06Kenny Pickett, last year was rookie deal.
01:09Watson probably will not be available this season.
01:11And then they drafted Dylan Gabriel, which was kind of a surprise earlier in the third round.
01:16Dylan Gabriel's a small quarterback, big-time numbers at Oregon.
01:19I saw him at the senior bowl.
01:20He's a pretty short guy, small in stature.
01:23And they got Sanders.
01:24So if you just play the situation out, Scott, late in the season, right, you were talking about weeks 14, 15, or 16, when they're likely to be eliminated, the Browns for the playoffs.
01:35Right.
01:35That's the time to play this quarterback.
01:37That is absolutely the time to take a look at him and see what he's got.
01:40He's more talented than Dylan Gabriel.
01:43Dylan Gabriel is a better athlete in terms of movement and running.
01:47That's fine.
01:48But Shredor Sanders is a pure pocket passer, and he fits what Kevin Stefanski wants.
01:53And Stefanski, I know the way that he deals with quarterbacks.
01:58It's from the pocket.
01:59And Shredor, long-term, fits it pretty well.
02:02So, this kid, Dylan Gabriel, put up staggering numbers at Oregon.
02:08So, I want to know, is that because of the players around him, like Tez Johnson, or is that because he's good?
02:14Because they drafted him first.
02:16But you're telling me that the future is Sanders one and Gabriel two, because I agree with you that the other three guys are going to be toast after this year.
02:25I think the future is Sanders and Gabriel.
02:28Well, no question.
02:30Right now it is.
02:30Now, yes, you're correct.
02:32Gabriel was drafted earlier, and they had a higher grade on him.
02:35But the bottom line is they did trade up for Shredor Sanders.
02:37They saw the great value.
02:39I guess it's just a story from NFL Network.
02:41Eagles had interest in him, so the Browns traded up to make sure they secured him.
02:46But what I'm telling you is the best chance for Shredor to start would be with the Browns here, particularly past this season.
02:53This very well could be Watson's last year with the club.
02:57You've got Gabriel.
02:58Now, Dylan Gabriel is shorter than six feet, Scott.
03:00I saw him at the senior ball.
03:01He's slight in stature, and he doesn't have a great arm.
03:05He's pretty accurate, okay?
03:07He's a good athlete.
03:07He's a little bit of a better athlete than Shredor Sanders.
03:10Why didn't they draft him?
03:12What's that?
03:13So, why'd they draft him?
03:15They liked him.
03:16They had a good enough grade on him.
03:17But, listen, the Browns liked him probably more than other teams I spoke with.
03:21Other teams I spoke with had a fifth or sixth-round grade on him.
03:24It only matters what kind of grade they had on him.
03:26They took him where they thought he was of value.
03:28But Shredor Sanders, Scott, again, you look at the body of work.
03:33Now, what I could tell you is why did he drop?
03:35Let's get to that.
03:36That's very important.
03:38And 75% of a player's grade is coaching tape, right?
03:41The all-22.
03:43The tape is very average, okay?
03:45Or above average.
03:46It's not great tape.
03:47But he's very accurate.
03:48He processes fairly well.
03:51But when you break down his tape, you go, what?
03:53You're not really wowed by his game tape.
03:55That's part of why he dropped.
03:56You could definitely make the argument that he should have dropped to the third.
04:00But then you have everything else.
04:03You've got the issue.
04:04And this is something that one team told me I thought was fascinating.
04:07What happens when we get to weeks 14, 50, or 16 when the Browns are likely eliminated
04:12and they haven't made a decision who's starting?
04:14And what if they go to Dylan Gabriel, which could happen over Shador?
04:18What happens with his father, Deion, when the local media in Colorado keep asking him about it?
04:23You saw what Deion had to say on Twitter well before his son was back.
04:27And does that become a problem locally or nationally?
04:30And this is what teams don't like, Scott.
04:32They don't want this off-the-field stuff.
04:33They don't want to be asked about it.
04:34Now, Kevin Stefanski's dealt with Deshaun Watson's stuff since he was acquired in 2022.
04:42He's a guy who's been around the league a long time.
04:44He'll be able to handle it.
04:46But, again, being asked about the situation, having to deal with a sideshow is not what clubs like.
04:51That was part of why he dropped.
04:53But the biggest reason is clubs were not really enamored with his tape.
04:57That's the main reason why he dropped, but that's not the only reason.
