00:00Uh, what about these players that can be traded? I've heard about, uh, every trade, uh, literally
00:06every guy in this business is saying there's going to be trades out the wazoo. And then,
00:11uh, you know, none of them are right about when they happen or who they happen with,
00:15but what do you have? All right, Scott. So yeah, let me explain what you just said. I didn't know
00:19you were going in that direction, but I could explain also before we get to the other stuff.
00:23So what happens is you check around the league, you see which players are available. It's not
00:27like the NBA. Usually you don't see a lot of players trade. Yes. You and I were together
00:31three years ago in Las Vegas when AJ Brown was traded. Those kinds of player trades rarely
00:36happen. They happen, but not, it's not like the NBA, uh, by contract structure and injury
00:41history. These, you just don't see a lot of big player trades during the draft. Now, when
00:45it comes to this draft, Scott, it is an X really, I would call it in my time. This is my 27th
00:51year covering the national football league in terms of, and we talked about this last week,
00:55true first round grades guys are what we call blue chip prospects. It's not good. That would
01:01be a reason why some veterans could be traded. And if you're the Steelers and you don't get that
01:06quarterback in the first two rounds, I don't think it'll happen to one. We'll talk more about this
01:09in our coverage tomorrow on sports grid, but if you don't get the Jackson dart, let's say,
01:13or shooter Sanders in round two, you need help because Mason Rudolph, Scott is not the answer.
01:19He might be the answer. We're talking to the Steelers. They know four or five,
01:23six games. Yes. But for a full season, it's not happening. That brings us to Kirk Cousins,
01:28Scott. The Kirk Cousins story was one of the most fascinating last year. As you know,
01:32the Michael Penick story, uh, they, they, they, they took him in the first round that shocked us
01:37on our set at sports grid, considering six weeks before that they signed Kirk Cousins to a four year
01:44deal worth 180 million, 100 million fully guaranteed at signing Scott, which, which it tells you that
01:52barring injury, Michael Penick's wouldn't play for two years. And obviously if Kirk Cousins played
01:59well, and this is what we said last year on our set, just think about it. It's not like they
02:03signed Kirk Cousins to play poorly. If he played well, didn't get hurt. Your hope is that he continues
02:08to play well. Michael Penick doesn't play for three years. So the thinking was kind of crazy for Terry
02:12Fontenot, the general manager. And I know he keeps saying, oh, we're going to hold on to him. We're happy
02:16to hold on to him. Nobody's happy to hold on to a quarterback. It's going to cost you $35 million.
02:22Okay. That's the full guarantee left in the cash that they own. Uh, he's, he's going to be hard to
02:27trade. They're going to have to eat some of the money. And there'll be another team Scott by training
02:32camp. If it doesn't happen over the weekend or by the start of the season, especially when you need
02:36to back up or you need competition or your starting quarterbacks gets hurt, just like Sam Bradford
02:42in, in 2016, when the Eagles got a first round pick for Sam Bradford, something will happen
02:47eventually where a quarterback gets hurt. But right now they own 35 million, no matter what,
02:53if he, if he, if Kirk Cousins got hurt tomorrow, they own 35 million, right? He is a name to watch
02:58out during this draft Scott, because as I've been telling you since January, this is not a good year
03:04to need a quarterback. It's just, it's not a good group. And there's a real, I can't wait to talk
03:08about the odds later, Scott, and in our segments here, because the odds have changed on the
03:12quarterback position. There's no question about it.
