00:00I'll say this, teams that do go up 2-1 after the series is tied 1-1 go on to win 70-plus
00:05percent of the time that series.
00:06So, mathematically, massive win for the Golden State Warriors in that regard, but I think
00:11more so what they did to the mentals of the Rockets, like, the Warriors were without their
00:15second-best player.
00:16Yeah, I haven't even considered that, quite frankly.
00:18Like, the psychological part.
00:20Yeah, I'd be, like, coming out of that game, I'd be so disheartened from the Rockets.
00:24Like, man, they didn't have Jimmy Buller, and we lost.
00:26Coming off after that emotional win that they had, and you knew heading into Game 3, and
00:33this is going to be the first road playoff experience for, like, a lot of these guys, outside of,
00:37obviously, Dylan Brooks, outside of Fred Van Vliet, and outside of Steven Adams, all those
00:41other guys, that was their first road playoff experience.
00:44And I thought Chase Center showed out on Saturday.
00:47Huge Warrior chants with four minutes to go.
00:50All the Warriors chants I was hearing in that game was massive.
00:52So, shout-out Chase Center.
00:53Huge for them showing up, because I thought Houston Rockets, in comparison to Toyota Center,
00:58that was very stale, the first couple games.
01:00Let's go, Rockets!
01:01Maybe I'm just a hater, I don't know, but it sounded pretty stale in comparison to what
01:05I heard from Chase Center.
01:06But you know what?
01:06They've been there.
01:07They're used to it.
01:08They've had championship moments.
01:10They've had finals games there.
01:11And I feel like Chase Center, a lot of people like to compare, oh, Oracle.
01:15Yeah, Oracle's its own thing.
01:16It's going to be special.
01:17That's what it is.
01:18Candlestick is its own thing.
01:19That's going to be special.
01:20But you know what?
01:21Eventually, Levi's built a soul.
01:24And it does.
01:24I know a lot of people like to say it's a soulless thing.
01:26No.
01:26When there's playoff games, big playoff games there, they show up.
01:29You've been there.
01:30Joe, I love going to playoff games with Levi's.
01:32It's not Candlestick.
01:33It's not.
01:34I'm just letting you know.
01:35No, no, no.
01:35It's not even close.
01:36I'm not saying it is.
01:37That's why I'm saying Chase will never beat Oracle.
01:39Yes.
01:40That's okay.
01:41Sure.
01:42It could be Chase Center.
01:43And Chase Center showed out on Saturday in a big, big way.
01:46And I think it got to the Rockets' young players.
01:48I did.
01:48Ahmed Thompson, 5-16.
01:51Jalen Green, 4-11 after having that huge game in Game 2.
01:54Tari Eason, not his best game.
01:57Eight points, 3-9 shooting for him.
01:59It was not great.
01:59Outside of Jabari Smith and Dylan Brooks, the efficiency just was not there for the Houston Rockets.
02:04Great at the Warriors' defense.
02:05So you asked, heading into the game, what was my feeling?
02:09I had zero expectation because I watched his team without Jimmy Butler, and they had Wiggins at the time.
02:15But, you know, for the months before he even showed up, I didn't know what to make of this team.
02:20They can look like a bottom five team.
02:23They can look good enough to beat anybody.
02:26So I just, I didn't know what to expect.
02:28And I kept thinking, like, okay, offensively, who's going to show up?
02:31Like, are they going to be hounding Steph to where he's an inefficient version of himself?
02:36And, you know, is Draymond going to have to step up the scoring?
02:39I don't even know.
02:39What did Draymond finish with?
02:40I don't even think he scored in the fourth quarter.
02:42He finished with seven points, and he had four assists, eight boards, three blocks.
02:48It's just a typical Draymond game.
02:50A triple single.
02:51Like, without Jimmy Butler, I was like, all right, maybe he has to score 15.
02:54And, you know, can JK score enough to, you know, offset some of Butler's, you know, loss?
03:00And can Pajemski hit buckets?
03:01And none of that ended up mattering.
03:03Really, it felt like, to me, it was Steph, GP2, and Buddy healed in the second half.
03:08Well, in that first quarter alone, it was just a grind.
03:11Steph was one of four, right?
03:13You had Pods, two of five.
03:15You had Draymond, oh, a three.
03:17He had a couple three-point attempts that clanked.
03:19They scored 18 points in that first quarter.
03:22Like, early on in this game, like, the defense, and I'll continue to give Houston credit for this,
03:27because their defense shows up.
03:28Like, the Warriors did score over 100, so there you go.
03:32One of four for them.
03:32That is my 100.
03:34I've been saying in every game.
03:35Yeah.
03:35First to 100.
03:36Is that not ringing true?
03:38No, it absolutely is.
03:39In this series, this is a very, we're not going to be able to put the ball in the hoop team,
03:43especially in tight, condensed spaces down the stretch.
03:48And I knew if you get to 100, you're winning this game.
03:51Lawler's Law, right?
03:52There you go.
03:52First team to 100.
03:54Usually wins the game.
03:56Shout out Ralph Lawler, the Clippers, who took an L, and their series is now tied 2-2.
04:00But we're talking about the Warriors, 8-8, 9-5-7, 9-5-7-0.
04:03So, something happened early on in this game, Joe, and you mentioned Draymond Green, I thought was huge.
04:08That tech early on, I thought was well-calculated from Draymond Green.
04:12Well-calculated?
04:13I did.
04:13I thought he was going to go after the referee.
04:15You know what?
04:15The way he was stomping at him, I was like, oh boy, here we go.
04:19You know why I thought it was well-calculated?
04:21Because it was early on in the game.
04:22I knew he was going to let it go.
04:23He was livid.
04:24He was.
04:25He was pissed.
04:26Buddy Heald spoke to it after the game on NBC Sports Bay Area, and he said that was when the team got going.
04:34We didn't make as much shots as he went to in the first half, but we were able to let the storm in that second quarter.
04:38You know, after Draymond Tech got us going, and we were able to let the storm.
04:44So, again, like, well-calculated tech.
04:47Because there are some times where it's like, that wasn't the moment, that wasn't the time to do it.
04:51And you see this a lot in baseball, whether it's a manager getting thrown out.
04:53You see it a lot from the coaches.
04:55It's sometimes incumbent on the players to do it.
04:57Because Steve Curry, I don't think, wants to get a tech.
04:59And I think he's already got a tech in this series.
05:01Yes.
05:01He won.
05:01And, again, complaining about the fouls and the lack of foul calls.
05:05But I thought that was well-timed for him early on in the game to set the tone.
05:09And you know what's funny?
05:10You thought it was a well-timed tech.
05:12I did.
05:13Because, you know, also, you know what the refs don't want to do.
05:15They don't want to give him another one.
05:16So, they're going to let him tote the line.
05:18He's not lucky to get thrown out.
05:19You can say lucky, but the refs, especially in this time, you mentioned the James Harden.
05:25They don't want to throw anyone out.
05:26I understand that, but it's Drayvon Green.
05:28I know.
05:28And I just thought the way that he was demonstratively walking over to the referee and got in his face that way, it crossed my mind that he's going to get tossed in this game.
05:41Well, he talked about it after the game as well.
05:43How important it was to be the enforcer on this team.
05:46Well, it's important, for sure.
05:49You know, you better have one on your team or you just get bullied.
05:53So, I take pride in being that for our guys, being that for this franchise for many years.
05:59But, yeah, I thought, you know, I thought it was time to take one right there.
06:05So, I did and made sure I got one.
06:07And then I kept it pushing, got back in the game.
06:10But, you know, sometimes stuff like that is needed, and I felt like it was needed there.
06:16Why are you laughing?
06:17I call Cap on that.
06:18What?
06:18He acts like he's in full control of his emotions.
06:22He was?
06:23And there's just no way that anyone who's watching that sequence is like, Drayvon knows exactly where he's going with this and where to walk up to the line.
06:33Like, I'm sorry.
06:35I think he was unhinged.
06:38And it was like, he could say afterwards, hey, I knew exactly what I was doing.
06:42In real time, I was like, oh, boy, he's pushing it.
06:45And quite frankly, credit to the referee for not throwing him out.
06:48I think a lot of other people would have been tossed.
06:51James Williams, Kevin Scott, Curtis Boyd.
06:53You really think he was in full control?
06:54Yes.
06:54I mean, we can disagree on this.
06:56Yes.
06:56I'm tired.
07:00Hey, Drayvon, what did Jalen Green?
07:01I love him, but God, I was like, please don't get thrown out of this game.
07:05What did Jalen Green have to say to you at the end of the game?
07:08Yeah, the game was over.
07:10Don't matter.
07:11There you go.
07:12It don't matter.
07:12I thought he said something about painting his nails.
07:15That's what I saw on the internet.
07:16The game was over.
07:17No, don't matter.
07:19Keep that on my board.
07:20I just want that.
07:22Doesn't matter.
07:23Can be Niners related.
07:23Can be Giants.
07:24Doesn't matter.
07:25The game was over.
07:27Don't matter.
07:28That's what Luke Jackson said yesterday after the Rangers.
07:31Down the stretch.
07:33Down the stretch.
07:34He had a play where he went straight up vertical against Amon Thompson.
07:39And it was incredible.
07:41Then he had two other ones where he went straight up against Shingun.
07:44Shingun was so afraid that even on a wide open shot, he hit net.
07:50No rim.
07:51No backboard.
07:52Net.
07:53Amon Thompson, I think, again, rising star.
07:56Guy's a rookie.
07:57He has a very good career ahead of him if he's on this trajectory.
08:01I think people are anointing him a little bit too soon early on in the series.
08:04The efficiency, the shooting, the wildness, everything.
08:10He looks uncontrolled at times.
08:12This is his first playoff experience.
08:14So I'm not, I'm not, I'm trying not to be too hard on the guy.
08:16But, you know, the whole Curry stopper.
08:18Oh, Amon Thompson.
08:19He's different.
08:19He's different.
08:20I got body envy.
08:21I get it.
08:22Five of 16.
08:24I'll live with that.
08:25Alperen Shingun, 7 of 18 overall.
08:281 of 6 from the free throw line.
08:30Yikes.
08:30Hey, Rockets, you know, you can make your free throw.
08:33They're called free throws for a reason.
08:34They're free.
08:35You can get them.
08:3714 to 24?
08:38You kidding me?
08:39That's horrible.
08:40What did Shingun end up with?
08:421 of 6.
08:43What is he?
08:431 of 6 from the free throw line.
08:45Well, they did a hack of Adams, too, in this game.
08:47He was their best free throw shooter outside of Fred Van Vliet.
08:49And then he missed one, or made one, missed the next one.
08:53And then they got the offensive rebound and scored again.
08:55I know.
08:56And it was like, ah, we got to stop doing that.
08:58But I will credit Steve Kerr in this one,
09:01because I did think the lineups and the combinations, everything worked.
09:04He was on it.
09:04And when it works, we give you credit.
09:06Absolutely.
09:07Again, and I don't know where Dubnation is on this.
09:10When the guy loses, you like to call in and crush him.
09:13Well, how about when he does things well?
09:14You're going to call in and give him, hey, all you Kaminga haters,
09:17Steve Kerr hates Kaminga.
09:18He's iced him out.
09:19Put him in the starting rotation.
09:21He started him.
09:22And then even after a clunky first half went back to him in the third quarter.
09:25Yes, he did.
09:26To start the second quarter, they went actually very big.
09:29And then they went to a 1-3-1 zone.
09:32Steph, GP2, Buddy, Looney, QP.
09:35Now, Looney, I thought, had a mixed bag in this one as well.
09:39He had some moments, and then he comes way too far out on Jalen Green.
09:44And just a little head fake, and boom, layup.
09:46He's got to get backwards.
09:48I actually think QP, defensively, has outplayed Looney in the last couple games.
09:54That was a big revelation for me coming out of this game.
09:58The Rockets, if you look at just the rebounds in total, they only are a rebound of the Warriors by six.
10:03Obviously, five on the offensive glass.
10:04But six in total, 51 to the Warriors, 45.
10:07And a big reason why it was damn near even was Quinton Post.
10:10He had 12 boards, three offensive.
10:12If he could do that, like, yeah, the shooting would be great.
10:16And that's why we always talk about the shooting with Quinton Post, is because you don't really get a lot defensively.
10:20Well, in this case, I'm not saying he's this world-beater defensive.
10:23I'm not saying he's Steven Adams.
10:24I'm not saying that.
10:25No, he was battling.
10:26But he was battling.
10:27And he had four assists as well.
10:28Yeah.
10:28So if his shot wasn't going down, he was 1-7, 0-3 overall, pressing a little bit.
10:33And that's come to expect from a rookie, right?
10:35But you can control that if you're seven feet tall.
10:38Those rebounds, Quinton Post.
10:39If you can rebound against this Rockets team, you can rebound against any other team left in this Western Conference.
10:45That was a huge takeaway for me.
10:47He pushed Adams in a way I haven't seen Adams pushed.
10:52You all right over there?
10:53You all right?
10:54I don't know what's happening.
10:55It's okay.
10:56You're getting excited.
10:57You're getting choked up.
10:57He literally two-hand shoved him.
10:59The Warriors, the young Warriors are, you know, they're developing before your eyes.
11:04The Quinton Post, the Brandon Pajemski's, right?
11:06Hell, Moses Moody, you had a couple baskets.
11:08It wasn't as great a shooting game.
11:10And again, there's going to be a Moses Moody game here going forward.
11:13Pods hit a shot late in the game.
11:15It was very bold, to say the least, off the front of the rim.
11:20And it was a huge bucket.
11:21Huge bucket for the team.
