In what is the deadliest attack in Jammu and Kashmir since the Pulwama strike in 2019, unspecified number of terrorists targetted tourists by opening fire at them near Pahalgam town on Tuesday (April 22) afternoon. At least 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed in the terror attack which sent shockwaves in the country. Among the dead were tourists from several states including Karnataka, Maharashtra, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. The deceased included Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, a 26-year-old Indian Navy officer from Haryana's Karnal, and Manish Ranjan, an Intelligence Bureau officer from Bihar. In the wake of the attack, PM Modi cut short his 2-day visit to Saudi Arabia and returned to New Delhi on Tuesday night.
