The evening begins gloomy but dry for much of the UK, but there will be patches of rain in Scotland. However, as the night goes on a band of rain will approach from the west which will bring wet weather to Northern Ireland and north and west Scotland. Elsewhere though the cloud will give way to clear skies in many places. - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the evening of 26/04/2025. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Jonathan Vautrey.

00:00Hello there, good evening. It has been a reasonably cloudy start to the weekend, but Sunday does promise a little bit more sunshine, at least for some of us.
00:08High pressure is waiting in the wings across Scandinavia, ready to build in across the UK.
00:13In the meantime, though, we do have this area of low pressure just steadily moving into the northwest.
00:17So certainly later on this evening and into the overnight period, there will be some heavier and more persistent pulses of rain arriving west and Scotland, just fringing parts of Northern Ireland as well.
00:27Quite windy in association with this as well, near-gale strength gusts along some of our coastal districts.
00:33Dryer though for England and Wales, and underneath some of the clearest spells, temperatures will be dropping down towards mids, perhaps low single figures,
00:41so a very patchy grass frost is possible in some sheltered rural spots to kick off Sunday morning.
00:46There will also be some mist and fog patches around for England and Wales, so quite a murky start for some locations,
00:52but as we head throughout the morning, they'll be clearing off fairly readily, so certainly as we head into the afternoon,
00:57a decent amount of sunshine beginning to develop across these two nations and staying dry for the Manchester and London marathons.
01:04Always cloudier up towards the north and the west, with further outbreaks of rain pushing in across parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland.
01:10Some showers around here as well, and generally quite breezy for these northern nations as well.
01:15Whilst we'll see temperatures of 12, 13 degrees Celsius across the far north of Scotland,
01:19and 18 for Aberdeen, Glasgow and Belfast is still above average for this time of the year.
01:25Where the sunshine really gets going across England and Wales will be hitting highs of 20 to 23 degrees Celsius,
01:31so it is going to be feeling rather warm out there if you are in those sunnier spots.
01:36As we head into the start of the new working week, high pressure is still building its way in from the south and east,
01:41and this area of low pressure towards the north is slowly going to push its way even further northward,
01:47so there will still be this lingering frontal system across the far north of Scotland,
01:51particularly the Highlands, part of the Outer Hebrides, still seeing some outbreaks of rain on Monday morning.
01:56But relatively fine conditions developing elsewhere, particularly more sunshine on the cars for parts of Northern Ireland,
02:02so in central Scotland and parts of the far north of England as well.
02:06Really a generally pleasant day to come for many areas.
02:10In that sunshine, temperatures still climbing their way more widely now into that 20 degrees Celsius mark.
02:16To put it into some perspective, typical values for the end of April would be more around 12 degrees Celsius in the north
02:24and 16 degrees Celsius in the south.
02:26So if we look at this chart that shows colours compared to the average of time of year,
02:32we can see that many of us are starting to see temperatures rise 6, 7 degrees above what we'd normally expect,
02:38some localities even closer towards 8 or 9 degrees Celsius higher than our late April average.
02:44Do enjoy it.
02:45There's going to be plenty more of this as we head into the rest of next week as well,
02:49particularly towards Wednesday.
02:50Temperatures could be peaking towards the high 20s for some locations as well.
02:54We'll have plenty more updates on that, of course, on our YouTube channel, so do subscribe.
02:58And we'll see you again here later on.
03:00Bye-bye.
03:00Bye-bye.
